  1. Well fancy that. At least we know CVS hasn't gone completely mad just yet
  2. Tell you what. Don't be pedantic. Do as you like. I don't think the UKVI will be quite so nice next time. It's not me you have to have on side, my opinion counts for little (but hey, maybe if my views on this subject had been listened to a few tears back and one EL promoter had not called me "know all fan who knew nothing" [which is ironic]) its what the UKVI think and having given the sport one chance I'd not be risking them wanting to take another. So by all means, Ty Proctor can do what the hell he likes. It'll be funny to hear him moan when he's being kicked out the country. BTW, his did his legal action against Somerset go?
  3. Surely Kings Lynn can sue Poole/Ward for loss of income now? Finished top so should have been first pick for the playoffs so would have probably made the final.
  4. Todd Kurtz the rider with the British parentage? The likes of Joey Ringwood, Harley Horwood, Jayden O'Malley and Kurt Shields are not allowed to ride in the NL. And apart form one season (which it's entirely possible the UKBA/UKVI were not aware of) never have been.
  5. No blood. Fake testers. And still got a 10 month bad. Fair play to Darcy, he had all the high up people in speedway fooled!
  6. You said it was rare for an Aussie to go straight into the PL. I think 1 season in nearly 20 of the NL running is the very definition of rare.
  7. Poole fielding an illegal rider. Kicked out of the EL. Coventry promoted to Champions.
  8. Does this also mean that Kings Lynn finished top of the regular EL table? Ward scored 5 points at Leicester in a 45-45 draw. Now a 45-40 win to Leicester. Poole lose a league point so they finish a point behind Kings Lynn.
  9. We're legislating to make sure stupid promoters don't force EU workers out of a job for 12 months by signing crud from outside the EU - which is the idea of work permits.
  10. Surely before he get the permanent wildcard he has to earn it? The Aussie one, whatever, not bother but a whole series and the chance to be World Champion means he should have to earn it IMO. He'll still be suspended anyway, so doesn't matter.
  11. I'm not sure what that article adds. Lewis says he asked the club for a loan, he says the club were "unable to do so". Nothing about they agreed and changed their mind, if that was the case don't you think he'd have said so? He asked for a loan and didn't get it. Most speedway clubs probably make the quite fair assumption that a speedway rider agreeing to a deal with the club actually has bikes or the means to buy some bikes for the start of the season. Mr Horton has NOT stated anything in his response about loans. Mick Horton can screw up without anyone twisting things to make him look bad. He puts his foot in his mouth all the time and is a pretty terrible promoter but I don't see how he's in the wrong on this one.
  12. Coventry Speedway haven't denied what? That they won't give him a loan. Nobody, Coventry Speedway or Lewis Bridger have even suggested that a loan was agreed to. What Lewis has said is that he asked for one and was told no. Seems fair to me. "Quick update on my career status I will not be racing in 2015. I needed a small loan from Coventry to buy me some second hand engines." - nothing in that says Coventry agreed to a loan and then changed their mind.
  13. Thats just not true. Apart from one season when each teams was allowed to sign one work permit rider so Dyer, Sedgemen, Mark Jones, Ward and a few others were allowed to ride NL, Aussies have not been allowed to ride NL. Until about 2010ish they had to come in on a 7 in the PL and until 2001 a 9. So you only had the decent ones. They made it 5 and Glasgow signed anyone with an Aussie accent up in the hope of striking it lucky. They must have signed about 8 or 9 Aussies since the rules let them in on a 5 and only Grajzonek has got the 5 - they struck it lucky with Mason Campton in that Workington bought him off them for some odd reasons. Between the rest of them I don't think they got a 4 pointer average!
  14. TBF, reading that article it doesn't paint a great picture of Argentinian speedway, the management, their tracks and the support given to the riders!
  15. If an Aussie does a ride and slide day I don't think he'll be taking back what he's learnt for his day job. But a speedway rider riding a speedway track in practice could be training for his work and learning new skills. When Wayne Rooney turns up at the Man united training ground, is he in work? Or is he relaxing in his spare time?
  16. Odd one Matty Wether as he come in on a 3 and rode NL. So I dont get why he now suddenly needs a work permit. Or did Edinburgh and Wolves break the rules all them years ago? But no, I don't think he's ever averaged 7. 6.XX a few times while scoring lots of bonus points though - he's got 8+ with bonus points a few times. And he did get 4 in the EL once.
  17. Joey Ringwood Victor Palovaara Harley Horwood Jayden O'Malley Marek Mroz Rafal Konopka Kurt Shields All those names disprove your point. Promoters will still sign them. edit > How could I forget Mitchell Davey. And there was Damien Koppe. I bet half of them didn't actually qualify for a permit as I seriously doubt they made top 4 in a state final!
  18. But you're in effect giving rubbish rider a free season. The whole idea of the state final thing is to make sure they're at least in with a chance of making the 7. It's flawed as the top 4 from the WA State final have no chance of making 7 but the top 4 from the NSW state final stand a good chance anyway. I'd prefer it just said top 7 or 8 in the Aussie titles.
  19. So you think it would be ok for a club to sign Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs? It should be all about a rider level NOW not at some point in the past.
  20. I thought the took drugs and raced away from the police on pit bikes?!
  21. Not true at all. Or anyone could get a work permit in the first instance. You have to have finished in the top 4 of a state final to get a work permit and he hasn't
  22. I know most of the stuff on yourtube will have been cherry picked but I think just about every bit of coverage of him on youtube, plus the stories and what I've seen on VHS at home the guy was NEVER dull. If it wasn't a great ride, it was upsetting someone or being upset by someone. There was always something. You either loved him or hated him and I can't believe there was anyone who went, "Kenny Carter, he's alright".
  23. There was no 3rd league in '95 and '96. As leagues 1 and 2 were merged. The 2nd league that season though was the equivalent of the 3rd league in other seasons though. I dont know the politics behind the merging of the then British League 1 and British League 2 - I'm sure someone else could help though. The leagues split again in '97 though. Sounds about right to me
