  1. Brett Woodifield once score 19 from 7 at Newport beating Watson and Smart who both averaged over 9 that season. What did he ever do otherwise? Ok he was at reserve but he still beat the Newport top 2. Weirdly his dropped point was in heat 8 to what much have been Lee Dicken or Barrie Evans that season. Once saw Steen Jensen score 13 from 5 at Newport. Steen Jensen? Who? I've seen Billy Legg score a paid maximum and his average that season for 1.57 Didn't Lee Smart once score about 18 at Lynn?
  2. But I imagine most expect Heeps, Ellis and Tungate to be better than Heeps, Ellis and Tungate though. Very good team IMO but then we've all said that for the last 2 seasons and the Witches have won nothing yet (and the 4s doesn't count, it's a 1 off)
  3. I could list numerous 5 point men I've seen score 15-21 point scores and they amounted to very little over the years. Katajisto is a 6 point rider in reality.
  4. But they've announced the riders/line up. They can't change it now.....
  5. Yet people want squads so different names. Or moan the GP is the same old riders while complaining that in league speedway the names change too often. And imagine Rooney had to buy his own football. And his own kit. And imagine if he rode a bike instead of kicked a ball. It's a different sport so it's irrelevant.
  6. Double damn. But all I have proved even better than I thought I could is that tennis scoring is damn confusing if you want it to be. But in reality, it's not if you have half a brain.
  7. Damn, the guy who wins the most sets can lose the match.
  8. My mate explained Tennis to me the other day. the guy who wins the most points can lose the set and the guy who wins the most sets can lose the game and the guy who wins the most games can lose the match. Madness I tell you, madness! I saw a football match the other day but a goal was disallowed because the player had the nouse the stay ahead of all of theres. Madness. All sports have their weird quirks. The trick is NOT to go into them with a newbie. I swear speedway fans love telling their mates about TRs, guests and rider riding in more than one country.
  9. Agreed. You can get 100,000 new people turn up but if you give them rubbish they wont be back next week. The core product has to be right for the marketing to work. As for Glasgow still not getting enough in, maybe the marketing brought in 200 but 300 stopped going as what they were given every week was rubbish?
  10. So Gollob has quit the GPs now too. No Emil, no Tomasz.... Who next?
  11. So you heard about a speedway team in your home town/city/village/hamlet. What the first thing you do to find out more? You can ask your mates, you can visit the local library, you can drive around for days until you find a hidden track or you can get googling and find out more information. These days, when people want to find out more they google. If you have no internet presence, if your internet presence doesn't give the right info and if your internet presence is 6 months out of date what will people do? Also, the whole idea of social media is you take the marketing to them and make it easier5 for them to find you. So you search for "xxx speedway" and you find the official twitter. You send of a tweet asking where/when/cost/colour of the walls in the bogs and you get a response. Do some research on Tesco Mobile twitter and how well thats worked. TBH, I think the basics of this could be done for very littkle to nothing, not £300 a week or even a year! Jsut a fgew hours of googling and reading up on twitter, vine, instagram, snapchat etc etc
  12. And look at the rubbishe most track produce as a programme and listen to what most give as "presentation" and you realise that if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Do all them people have an issue with the riders getting a wage too? TBH, this is the problem with speedway, rather than paying professional they get fans to give it a go, which make it amateur they then charge the fans top whack for a load of amateur productions.
  13. If someone just wanted to do EL/BL would that be wrong? Why is it not including Sweden and Poland? There has to be some point it starts and ends. I'm sure if you supply the info the authors would happily publish it.
  14. As further proof people couldn't give a rubbish about NL racing outside of a few hardcore fans was that when i set up speedway-stats I said anyone interested in helping out could do so and anyone wanting to add NL results was welcome to do that too. Not one offer of help to add NL results but a handful for other leagues. As it is we all got bored anyway and Pl and EL stats have not been added for months any way. It someones interest, a hobby, they can include what the hell they like.
  15. Sports Personality is the wrong names. It's clearly sporting achievement of the year. The minute Murray won Wimbledon he was going to be the only winner. If Tai even makes the top 10 it's a victory for himself and the sport. And frankly, his story qualified him if you read what is taken into account by the judges. Sporting achievement, triumping adversity, going beyond what is expected and charity work.
  16. What better way of getting the sport noticed than turning up en masse in bobble hats, wulfsport jackets and waving programme boards and letting off airhorns.
  17. They'll be loaded then. They'll ride NL on a Sunday and score a 15 point max netting them £150. They'll then turn up at an EL meeting, beat the same riders for 7 points and get paid £280. Result. Not sure what they have to bitch about. Newport were always a PL club. Though I think calling some of the Newport CL/NL teams "good" is stretching it. One year Newport had 6.5 rider Karl Mason, Tom Brown and Karlis Ezergailis as heatleaders and then Legg, Hurst, Minall and Mallett all failing to get 7 between them. Impressive when you think between heats 2,8 and 14 they were guaranteed 3 points!
  18. So what if it's not in the Speedway Star. We all know about Woffy who he is, what he's done. It's non-speedway people who need to know about him and it seems they're doing a good job of letting people know who he is in that respect. It's no fecking good preaching to the converted. I never understand why speedway promoters advertise in the Speedway Star!
  19. How about if you want to market having the best around you go EL?!
  20. Not a bad team IMO. Any other club I'd expect Lambert out once Kennett gets an average but Silver won't drop anyway. I expect to see many worse teams.
  21. If that were true then there would be rioting in the streets over the Premier League!!!
  22. Good job as you'd look foolish, JL is 100% correct.
  23. Because of course, promoters spend £x on the rider and THEN paid the airfares. No, they had £x to spend including the airfares. If the rider didn't need airfares he would have got a great signing on bonus/points money.
