  1. My job used to be sending out surveys to various people/businesses for some of the World biggest automotive companies, we deemed 100 people to be a valid number. Next time you see an advert for Shampoo that tell you "80% of women prefer our shampoo" look at the writing at the bottom, it'll say taken fomr a survey or 80-120 people. 74 is a reasonable enough number to get quite a valid response. John Leslie, You assume the 1,480 turned up every week for Pl racing. Maybe 300 were weekly regulars and of the other 1,100 they turned up anything from once a month to once a season.
  2. I'm guessing it's to do with the final being in Russia and the farce that surrounded the GP qualifiers in Russia last season.
  3. The same. It was always stated Birmingham charged so much because they had 3 seasons to pay back the cost of building he track. That cost has now been repayed so all money can go a team, as they have money to spare, they can spend that on an EL team, I assume.
  4. Surely as Gollob struggles to speak any English we can't possibly vote him as personality of the year. Sod it, it may help speedway get noticed!
  5. Surely it would have been more credible to have a meeting at Newport this week and have a proper 2 legged afair than have only 1 leg at Buxton but stick to the cut-off date. Would anyone anywhere have any issue with a 1 off meeting in November? Other than any Aussie going home, I guess :/
  6. Yes, in the NL. You have to be British or 1 of the 10 Commonwealth riders allowed.
  7. Well Done to Buxton. Also to Newport and Dudley for each taking the fight to them. I'd have been happy to have seen any of the 3 winning things this season, Newport as it's home, Dudley because what a come back that would have been from a 14(?) year exile and Buxton for having been what, for me, the NL is all about. Over the years Buxton have played some part in the careers of numerous future PL and EL riders (from Armstrong to Smethills, Wright and more recently Cook and Morris), probably more than pretty much any other NL club and looking at their 2010 NL team, I think it's a safe bet that in the next few years we'll be seeing a few more in the PL and a couple more in the EL. It's a shame that over the last 15 or so years more team have not take the Buxton approach to things, had they done, I feel that British Speedway would be in a far greater state with many more Brits tearing up the PL and the EL. Well Done to the Moss family and everyone else who has been involved at Buxton over the years, this victory is one for the good guys and so bloody well deserved after years of fair play and hard work.
  8. Last years meeting was brilliant, so I won't be missing this one without a good reason.
  9. I checked the figures and in the last 4 GP's Bomber is only second to Tomasz, in the last 5 he is 3rd behind Tomasz and Greg.
  10. There was a point last season that I feared Woffy at Brandon, he was scoring points for fun and if truth be told, I loved watching him do it. This season he's looked ordinary at best. For whatever reason he's gone backwards and he has more than his fair share of good, justifiable excuses. Let him have 2 or 3 years out of the GP series, it's not liek he'll be old if he has 3 years out! Let him ride for Wolves next season without the pressure of a GP each week, let him get back to his best in his own time without the TV cameras watching him struggle every 2 weeks. It's not I don't think he's good enough, he will be one day but he needs to re-group and have another go when he's got his confidence back.
  11. Over the last 3 and 4 GP's only 1 rider has outscore Bomber, Tomasz Gollob (says a lot about Tomasz too, he did that with a broken ankle in 1 round!) and he was 3rd if you take into account the last 5 GP's. I genuinly believe he can fight for a top 3 place next season, hopefully this last 2 months has made him realise what he can (and should) be doing. Nice one Bomber and PLEASE continue in the same way next season.
  12. I'm hearing stories from Poland that Tomasz has broken his ankle and won't be riding.
  13. Tom guested at Eastbourne once, he had a bigger queue of people wanting his autograph than any other rider, including the then World Champion Nicki Pedersen
  14. Purleeeze! Ole did all he could to try and win Tomasz a title between 99 and about 03 before realising he was wasting his time. I remember being in Prague in 2007 and seeing Gollob roll around in practice completly disinterested. The next day in the GP he scored 00010. I think he hit rock bottom that day as after than he seemed to find himself again and come good the rest of the season. For years I disliked Gollob but at the same time, had to watch him, you knew he was going to do something stupid, either ride into someone stupid or make a pass that defied every law of physics stupid. In recent years he has grown on me. A deserved World Title. Also, Congrats to Leigh Adams on now becoming the greatest rider never to be World Champion.
  15. A slow starting GP that got there in the end. Really pleased for Tomasz, a fully deserved title. Pleased to see Bomber doing well, made a speedway virgin watch the GP last night and he thinks I'm a liar as I told him Bomber never makes a start but he made a few last night If he can gain some consitency next season then I think Chris has proved a few times now that he has it in him to be able to make a real attack on the top 3, sadly I think World Champion is beyind him (certainly in the short term) but I think he can really challenge for 3rd place next season. Also, congrats to Crumpy, 10 seasons on the podium, while I'm sure he's not happy to not be World Champion, thats 1 hell of a record and one he should be proud of.
  16. If they were over this weekend they now know what not to do!
  17. Good to see the Poles acknowledge the superior racing in the UK over Poland
  18. Were you listening to the conversation that I was having with Matt, Nikki, Sandie and Vog at Brandon last week? I kept asking if Shawn was in the tema and she kept saying no but trying to list the riders, I kept annoying her by naming Shawn and she kept on telling me no. In the end Vog, Matt and Nikki got involved. Sandie, told you so
  19. This (and most other) forum thrives on speculation.
  20. So it's a minority sport then, as very few people would know what tournament you're on about. So why would they want to watch it?
  21. So you got to watch the speedway, on the package you pay for and you're considering cancelling because of that? Amazing.
  22. Subscribe to Sky then It's a better service with more channels before you even consider the fact speedway is occasionally on the Red button.
  23. Kennett and Woffinden have done the same in the past. Possibly others. Really don't see the problem, he was a 3.2(?) rider in March, he's had a good season but we should not be taking his chances away from him, this is after all only his first full season of PL racing.
