  1. You'll be lucky now! Start looking in Bristol and find someone to drive you back after the meeting.
  2. Things are looking better. Lots more cheaper flights, apartment can be paid for in Euros with a small surcharge which works out a lor cheaper and as a pint only cot 80p last year, even with the poor exchange rate we're not too worried any more!
  3. Does anyone out there understand the tax they charge? It always seems like a random amount to me! Outbound the tax is more than he flight, but coming back, the tax is about 66% the cost of the flight which is already cheaper than the outbound flight Amazing how a £20 and a £15 flight comes to £70 Thank God Tescos don't work this way Now need to find somewhere good to stay, any tips?
  4. BMI Baby from Birmingham have not gone up since the day they were released if you're flying Thursday to Monday and they're already as high as BMI generally go, so theres nothing to be lost by waiting.
  5. Have you see the price of flights?! Thats putting me off!
  6. Loads. And there always a bar near by if you need a cheap drink Even things like going up to the castle are interesting (just don't be talked into walking, get the tram ) Can also suggest the Petrin Tower, give a great view of Prague. I also get excited going on the Metro (underground) too You could spend days (and 1000's of Koruna) in the shops too! My plan this year is to take the clothes I'm wearing and an empty suitcase and buy clothes over there There's enough there to keep you entertained/amused for 5+ days.
  7. Wouldn't matter in this country, as many people support the swedes, Danes, Aussies and Poles as they do the Brits
  8. Which is less than what a child pays to watch speedway in the UK at smoe tracks. In the UK, we now pay about 18 Euros. Children pay between 5 and 7 Euros. The last two years it has been cheaper for me to watch the Czech GP and buy a programme than it costs to go to second division speedway at Newport!!!
  9. Compared to Poland though, speedway here is expensive, even relatively. The biggest thing between now and the 70's is surely the fact theres about 100 more TV channels and generally speaking more to do? Go to speedway or stick on a DVD? etc
  10. I think the biggest reason is the cost. How much does it cost to go to a meeting in Sweden, Poland, Russia and Latvia? Lets do it in terms of loaves of bread and/or pints of beer. To go to an Elite League it costs about £13, or about 5 pints of beer. Or about 3 trips to the cinema.
  11. Prague is easy to get to, cheap, and great fun.
  12. To be fair, for a £5 a week ticket, you may as well get the tram! So much more fun.
  13. Make it £160 for my trip to Prague as a GP ticket is not included in the price anyway Bit poor that, go on a speedway trip and have to pay extra for the speedway!
  14. Like what? For a start, in Prague, TPT don't stay in the centre, so if you want to go for a drink/do the touristy stuff you have to get to the centre anyway. Then there's the fact I can in theory fly from any airport i the UK that suits me, TPT generally only fly from 2 or 3 airports, they might not be viable for everyone. As I said, TPT is good for some, not others. No one way of doing things is right or wrong. Nobody will convince me to travel with TPT and at the same time I'm sure there some loyal TPT users who would not consider doing things on their own. One advantage of TPT is you can travel on your own to avoid the situation Sue mentions above, again, not for me though, if I went to a meeting abroad I'd want to be with friends.
  15. Last year I went to Prague from the Thursday to the Tuesday for under £200. Accommodation was £100, flights £55, tram tickets less than £5, GP ticket and a programme for about £15. That's only £275. With the remaining £25 I got very merry in the stadium for about 80p a pint. It's looking a little more expensive this year but still only about £50 more unless the flights drop in price which is not likely. Personally, travel plus tours is not for me but I can see why they charge what they do, it's simple supply and demand, all companies will charge as much (or as little) as possible to get the biggest profit and if TPT have worked out that prices are the ideal and people are happy, who are those of us who don't want to use their service to complain?
  16. I guess they can charge what they like if people are going to pay it. Personally, having gone to Prague twice now, half the fun is working out all the details youself
  17. I assume 7. Unless anyone has heard anything different about the averages for Australians.
  18. Get back to Newport! Would be enough for me to go over there every week then
  19. That's the end of all the big pay days and the "beginning of the end" for British speedway!!
  20. Nothing that I've seen, but I will continue to keep an eye open for people.
