  1. I think you'll find the quote was specifically about BV speedway!
  2. LOLing at all the "Newman is only worth X amount" he achieved his average the same way as everyone else. Why should Newman and Ellis get any kind of reduction? You either need to weight all averages (check out my averages thread) or you have to give all riders their achieved averages. You can't just make up averages for riders or use PL averages!
  3. Every team to have two former draft riders. Or it makes the draft pointsless. Other than each team having to have two former draft riders they get no special treatment. They get averages the same etc. Guests or replacements have to be another former draft riders though (or r/r). Also every team have to have a Brit aged 23 or less at number 7 who stays at reserve all seasons. This rider can be a former draft rider if their average fits. Some sort of weighting applied to averages so riders who spent a season in reserve are not forced out because they have an inflated average.
  4. I wouldn't argue with that. I'll be honest my "weighted averages" are more a relative value of a riders worth rather than an exact value of their worth. For a start I actually took heat leaders as the starting point and made everyone relative to them. Really what I should have done is took second strings as the start point and worked out heat leaders weighted averages. But yes, looking at it, adding 10% does make things more evenly spread and work better with a 42 break even figure.
  5. As a neutral, that looks very much to me like the rider in blue is ridden into by the rider in yellow tbf. Doubt there any intent but I can understand why he's being blamed for the injury.
  6. Maybe they should have a word with Nigel Pearson. Seems he knows all about it....
  7. Great all those people who bought a house in 1980s Britain have made money. Brilliant. Now ask those who bought a house in 2000's Ireland, Spain or the USA how that worked for them! Or even Italy. 80% of homes in the UK these days are bought by investors and 85% are bought with interest only mortgages. Now the tax breaks have been removed for BTL investors and they start to lose money and have to sell up who do you think is going to buy from them? Owner occupiers cannot afford to buy. House prices are going to tumble in the next 18 months, regardless of brexit. When that happens I'll be a cash buyer and will be laughing. Or alternatively I've massively mis-judged things in terms of house prices and they'll continue to go up but unless they go up 30% in the next 18 months I'm still better off having not bought a house because I've invested that money elsewhere and done better for it.
  8. Hearing some pretty awful rumours right now. Belle Vue really need to put out a statement saying they're running next season and the club and it's promoters have no financial problems.
  9. How is losing a mentalist team manager who makes threats to fans and loves all things Poole (apart from Kyle Newman) even slightly bad? It's some of the best news Bees fans have had for a long time! A manager who also asks fans to meet him after a meeting then disappears out of the stadium as soon as the meeting is over and then slags off said fans on twitter for not meeting him. He was the one who run off after the meeting.
  10. Wouldn't he just! As a Harris fan I'm a little disappointed I won't get to see him every GP but being replace by Emil will make up for it! Just a damn shame we've missed him for a few years.
  11. So Freddie is happy, he has agreed to NEVER get his tuned. But another GP rider does, he start gating like never before and winning GPs from nowhere so the other 13 regular GP riders get a Gerhard and get it tuned, they're all now on a par with that first guy but Freddie is left scoring 1 or 2 a GP. What does he do? Stick to his promise or suck it up so he can compete with the GP boys? But now 15 GP riders have these super fast bikes, that means the top 20-odd non-GP riders will need the same too so that they can compete in the league and stand a chance of making the GP series. What Gerhard has done is commendable but once someone gets one tuned and it goes faster everyone will have to do the same to keep up, thus eliminating the cost saving. I hope I'm wrong but unless the powers that be legislate against this engine being opened up or being changed from standard it'll happen
  12. Not this season. He used it last season.
  13. Because if Freddies engine "out of the box" is this fast, imagine how good it would be if a tuner got hold of it and made further changes to it! It's possible Gerhard has made the engine so good it cannot be improved but do you honestly think if a rider sends the engine to "Joe Bloggs Tuning" and he wins a GP on it the week after (down to luck) that everyone else won't send their to "Joe Bloggs tuning" too?
  14. Does paying mortgage interest ever make sense? Is it not dead money? Maybe 30 years ago. But why would you pay more for something that you can get for less if you wait a few years? The last private rental I had the landlord paid about £170,000 for the flat, 10 years later that flat is now worth about £140,000. That's 30,000 loss plus his mortgage interest makes my rent payments look like peanuts. Plus I've not had to worry about boilers breaking, washing machines stopping working or roofs leaking. All issues I've had at some point in he last 20 years that the landlord had to pay to sort out.
  15. No. Ive never said such thing. Happy for either of you to prove me wrong. In fact I have £5000 here that says neither or you can find a post where I have said that. I've said I won't buy a house while they're over valued and while renting makes more financial sense. I stand by that now. But at some point buying makes more sense than renting and Brexit may just be the thing that fixes the housing market. That and the fact BTLers are about to lose their tax breaks so they'll stop making a profit soon and will need to sell.
  16. When does this start? Because right now I'm doing well out of it, benefits of investing money outside the UK/pound. OK My wages are not worth as much this month but the house I want to buy in the next few years has lost far more than my wages so I'm winning big right now. Frankly if the average Brit who is up to their eyeballs in debt gets idioted then you'll not catch me crying for them.
  17. Lindback wouldn't count in my figures as he rode 0 EL meetings so I have nothing to base his average on. If you give me the time (and I had the inclination but frankly I don't) I'd take every riders Polish, Swedish, British, German and Danish league averages and work out conversions between each of the leagues. Bjerre you would have to go back to last season when I did the same and he come out at 6.43 I think the issue is that you're so used to seeing draft riders scoring 7 or 8 that it seems odd to see them with averages of 4 but in reality, they only beat each other for 5 or 6 of them points. I can post the averages of riders who raced as reserve and either second string or heat leader and you'll see the differences. The oddity was Lewis Rose who actually did better as a second string but it's possible (because I haven't looked) he had a home bias towards his meetings riding as second string.
  18. So 2 seasons ago we had the new, "2 seasons of doubling up" rule. So thats going to effect about a dozen riders. So do we think they'll drop the 2 years of doubling up rules or do you think they're going to force Cook, King, Kennett, Lawson, Grajczonek and Masters (off the top of my head, there must be more) to make a choice?
  19. And you have the give the Polish league priority. We need to get together with every other league and agree not to sign any rider signed to a Polish club.
  20. Thats exactly the opposite of a problem and why averages are a good thing
  21. Rory Schlein also rode in the SEC qualifiers a couple of seasons ago, as a Brit.
  22. Price of fuel up 5p a litre. Price of food up about 5% but house prices down on average £1000 so the loss on fuel and food is wiped out by the gain on buying a house. Great news for most people under 35 who don't yet own a home.
  23. Sorry, missed him! Forgot to add Lynns team changes in August. Weighted hes 6.31 rather than 8.57 traditional.
  24. There would need to be some further tweeting, Id need to do the same (again) for last year I think so the likes of Schlein could get rolling averages over 20 meetings. But you could equally argue that since the points limit come along there have most seasons been a rider or two every year who end up low and thus a bargain. If I thought it was actually going to be used I'd happily spend some time finessing. Same with my fixture compiling software, happily sit down and get it working properly if it would be used.
  25. I calculated the weightings by taking any riders who rode as any two of heat leader, second string and reserve to calculate the ratios. I've kept it simple and weighted it by riding position 1/3/5 vs 2/4 vs 6/7 when in reality riders appear to have averaged a little less at 5 than at 1 and 3 and at 4 compared to 2 and at 7 compared to 6 but I think it's insignificant enough to not matter. I've also used all meeting for this season. I don't care if a rider has done 1 meeting of 30, thats what is counted. It explains why in some ways Rory Schlein is far too low really. Stevebrum will also see that weighted, KK is over half a point better thna Freddie, fancy that (we'll gloss over Freddie leading his team to play-off glory in sterling fashion for now)
