  1. I don't like Tai he has a tattoo, I dont like Tai he has piercings, I don't like Tai he raced the car around the track, I don't like Tai he swore. Christ people, get over it! They are, IMO, the things going for Tai. He's a bad boy, a rebel and pretty "cool" to young people. So a load of 50+ speedway fans think he's naughty and should be punished etc. Thats why speedway is dying on it's arse. Speedway needs to get over this "lovely" imagine it try to portray. Get with the dirty, loud and BAD. It's a high adrenaline, dangerous sport FFS. Anyway, bets Cardiff every in terms of racing. Many good heats. I love the whole day, meeting up with so many friends, a few drinks and then a good speedway meeting. Can't wait for next year.
  2. Totally, 100% spot on. To win you need a good top 2, a good reserve. Then you fill the gaps. IMO we have the good top 2 but we lack the good reserve so we're struggling. Getting a good top 2 and a good reserve means they take 15 rides between them, possibly 17.
  3. Surely the guest has to be for Willkinson? The sport just stumbled from farce to joke daily. Lynn have taken the piss all year with Huckenbeck riding in the 1-5 despite having a lower average than Wilkinson/Rose so I'm not at all shocked Kings Lynn continue to get away with fiddling things.
  4. Smolinski averaged 7 with 12 meetings in reserve and in the old format. He would not get 7 these days. He'd do well to get much over 6. So sing him and you're losing over a point straight away. And to fit him in you'd need two changes. I guess you could replace Woryna and Garrity with Smoli and a 3.00 rider but the you're stuck with one of Sarj or Bates in the 1-5 again and don't really gain much.
  5. Sometimes just the belief there will be a pass is enough. I thought it was an above average meeting, I enjoyed it.
  6. Rather we didn't. Plus he doesn't actually fit.
  7. Seems they promoted the speedway heavily. Some may say well but talking to a couple of people there it got annoying as they were focusing on the speedway and the atmosphere was a bit flat as a result. Damned if they do, damned if they don't really. As for the Wales team, theres a parade from the castle at 4pm on Monday around the centre, up past the stadium and then on towards the Cardiff City Stadium. But 5pm it'll be out of the way but will mean it get a bit busy but that should be a good thing. Should means a few people around enjoying themselves. Doubt it's going to cause any real disruption, it's a Friday afternoon for a start, it's often busier then anyway!
  8. Get on the phone to Mads Korneliussen now! Like King not really an out and out 3rd heat leader but the pair of them at 3 and 4 swapping around will do a job. Rides Brandon well and is liked at every clubs he's ever ridden for (except Leicester but hey, thats a selling point right?)
  9. Agree with that. Only been to Cardiff to see the devils but the crowd interaction after a game makes speedway laughable. We wondered why everyone was waiting after the game, soon found out!
  10. Many faults Waggy but also many great ideas. If I was one of the top guys at the BSPA I'd have him involved in some way to get some ideas out of him. Give him a club with a solid financial footing and he'd have done amazing things IMO.
  11. Bit of a risk maybe but what are Ulamek, Bech and Walasek up to now? They're all better than Woryna and they all mean Sarj and Bates stay in reserve.
  12. I agree, it was a poor meeting from him. But in his defence, you could be as specialist as you liked, if you missed the start you didn't score. As top of the averages man Jason Doyle. He looked fast enough, he was trying and in a couple of his races was all over the guy in front of him but if a rider pinned it in the kerb you were not passing them. We all know when you sign KK you'll get a few crap meetings thrown in. But IMO, it's worth if for the rest where he's good. I'm not going to critisize him for 2 and a bit bad meetings (@ Swindon, @Wolves and vs Wolves) but I will say he was pants at Swindon. But rubbish happens. Would have been more annoying if he'd been bad and we'd have scored 40.
  13. Hopefully if he doesn't make it he'll try and ride in practice and fail, meaning one of the Brits has to replace him.
  14. If he didn't complete heat 13 he didn't " try for 4 laps in every race" did he?
  15. TBH I'm not sure you stand to gain much trying that. Probably not worth the effort. And I can't see anything anywhere that suggests it's closed. Ticket line is between the train station and the stadium. Outside the 4th bend. Westgate Street (basically keep walking down the main road that the stadium it on and it'll be on your left)
  16. Why would they sign him if he's upset them? I'm also not sure how we're allowed a facility when our doubling up rider is sat at home.
  17. How is it too late? Drop Woryna, bring in a 6.5 rider who scores 6 at #3, means a couple more points for King at 4 and means Sarj drops to reserve where he can score 4 or 5 rather than than 0s he's been scoring. We gain 5 or 6 points a meeting, the oppotiions lose 5 or 6 points a meeting thats a 10-12 point swing. Even last night with KK not beating anyone it would have meant us getting a point. Had KK turned up aswell then suddenly we're talking about turning a drubbing into a win. Thats how much of a difference one change can make.
  18. Queen street station is open, but why would you use it? And the ticket office tends to be open from very early until the queues have gone (possibly after start time) but only tend to have the more expensive tickets. What you want it ticket line, ok it means a 5 minute walk but the queues are tiny in comparison and they tend to have cheaper tickets.
  19. Fair enough. No idea where I got midday from! But my maths is fine, my lack of knowledge isn't! It's not going down well that because theres a speedway track on the pitch that only 20,000 people can get in and sit down and all tickets have already gone (I'm one of them thats pissed off as Ive queued all morning). I hope this is being done!
  20. Last night was better than Berwick, there was passing. But it was still dull and it wasn't quite as bad as the Glasgow meeting. Passing last night in heats 2, 4, 8 and 15. Glasgow had 2 passes and Berwick 1. Swindon riders were a lot closer than at Berwick too, Berwick was strung out and no hope of a pass, Swindon had a few heats with riders trying. (passes after the back straight only counted) I'd not try and argue last night was anything other than dull but people seem to be trying to argue the PL meetings were something other than dull.
  21. He was rubbish, I'm not going to defend him despite being a fan. But he was trying, he just wasn't good enough. Mind you, he could have at least had the decent to try for 4 laps in every race. I hate riders not trying all 4 laps, we're not asking a lot, 4 minutes of effort is all!
  22. Maybe so. But I was at Billy Hamills farewell and the Cradley fans were doing it then. It just seemed weird. I've been at plenty of big sporting events (cricket, football and rugby) and never heard a war cry. It just so unimaginative. The best ones have been the songs sung by various fans. I love being at the 20/20 cricket when there were a group of quite rowdy lads in front of us who had loads of songs, a personal favourite was signing to Sussex "you're French and you know you are". The older cricket fans complained about them but the younger (under 40s) just sung back at them and gave them what some would call abuse, others banter. When the stewards tried to take them away most people booed at them. Not a single "give us a..." that day. I'm all for fun, 100% with that one. There should be more fan interaction, fans should make more noise and get more involved. Speedway fans are generally an odd bunch who prefer a polite ripple of appaulse. It's why a Coventry/Poole play-off meeting is so damn great. Everything is cheered and booed. Even EFs and falls, I know it's not the "done thing" but it adds to the atmosphere. Or the Newport vs Glasgow KOC meeting in 2001(?) where Newport fans were signing and cheering anything at all they could. It makes even a rubbish meeting seem so much better. I actively encourage anyone to do anything to try and add to an atmosphere, I just think the war cry has had it's day. Part of speedway problem is the fans who attend still want it to be 1950/1960! Sure there was undoubtedly lots back then that was brilliant but times move on, speedway doesn't want to so it's dying. Anyway, to answer the question. The smell. Occasionally I'll walk into a stadium and catch that smell for a moment but it oh so rare these days.
  23. I own a set of Coventy kevlars, I'm cheaper than Woryna. I'll try hard. Give me a job? Got a foreign name too, makes me exotic.
  24. How so? Wednesday night at 11pm to midday Friday is 37 hours.
