Sayfutdinov On Sgp -" I'll Be Back"
SCB replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
What does it matter? Well it's a discussion point. Rather than just "my belief", if you don't like it maybe don't post on a "discussion forum" That really does seem to be a rather OTT response to some reasonable discussion/debate. My point was if you take Emil injury away you have to take Woffys and that means Emil would have probably only been able to drop about 3-4 points a GP in the last 3 GPs. Thats a lot, for anyone! -
For all Mick Hortons faults I think he means well, tries hard and tries to do the right thing. But his execution of ideas and plans is a little "off". Peterborough was a disaster that he shouldn't have got involved in, it required too much work and effort and he did that out of passion rather than any business brains. He ultimately kept the club going for a year and it cost him a fortune just as it did the last time he was promoter there. You can have both. You don't need housing on a speedway track, you can put houses elsewhere. Rather than looking for land for a speedway track and and building a new track/staidum and houses not just look for land for housing, leave the speedway alone and build the houses where ever it is they're looking at building a track. Much more efficient surely? Might not be so great for the developers because Binley Woods/Brandon is prime residential area but thats not the councils problems. Where as I think we should listen to them. The people who go and don't moan will go whatever. The people who go and moan will probably still go whatever. The people who moan and don't go, fix their moans and they might just attend!

Everyone seems to forget this. And that Tai had 7 from 3 at Cardiff when he was wiped out set to score another 7-10 points and it meant he had to ride in the next GP 2 weeks later with a broken collarbone. Emil was 8th in the heats so had Woffy made the semi then Emil wouldn't have done so 5 points less for Emil too. Thats a 12-15 point swing then. Im not including Tais injury in a later GP as he caused that himself, thats just tough luck. So when you consider Tai was 3 ahead when Emil got injured, take into account Cardiff too and actually, without injury Emil would have been 15 behind Tai. Woffy then scored 17, 7 and 10 (34 out of 63) meaning Emil would have had to have score 50-53 out of 63 in the last 3 rounds. He wasn't good enough to drop less than 3-4 points each meeting, even that season and Woffy may have scored more in the final GP had he needed to. I'm just not seeing how Emil would have been World Champion that season. Tai deserve it as by the time Emil was injured he was 3 up and had been injured for half a GP. As for Shovvys views he's right. mid-2013 I thought Emil would be World Champion and win many more. But he's no yesterdays man. While he's not in the GP his career is going nowhere. Such a shame really. I say that as a fan of Emil too. -

I love Billy J and can't wait t see him on Friday (assuming they make it) but he couldn't ride big tracks when he was a regular EL performer with a 7 point (with bonus points) average, he is going to be spat out the back. Just hope he makes a gate or two to get in the way for a while -
That's a good point actually. I love team building, tactics and then rules. And you're right, I think it something that could be sold more to "geeks", when I've explained the points limit to people I worked with (I work in IT so many geeks!) Theyve generally loved the idea of a points limit.
-
Surely better people moan than say nothing and just stop going like 1000s more have done?
-
I don't see why something similar to this weeks PL 4s and an individual meeting couldn't be run for the EL. Two groups of four in the Sunday with top two in each qualifying then in the Sunday you could either have an individual for all the riders left from the 4 eliminated teams or just every teams top 2 in an individual using the 16 rider format. Then have the 4TT final in the afternoon. There's almost half as many EL teams so you could pay the riders £350 each! I'm sure that could be worked on, start planning now and look for a sponsor and tbh I don't think £40-45 would be too much for that weekend. Throw in all those paying £10 to camp too. I seriously hope the powers that be looking into sow thing along these lines.

There no deny it, this forum is generally full of doom and gloom but ultimately we must love this sport to spent our time on here moaning about it. So why? What is it that makes you keep coming back? For me it's the rawness of it all. It's just simple. 4 riders, 4 laps, drop the clutch and boom. The smell The amateurism is weirdly also quite endearing at times, if damn annoying at others. Watching a rider inches from serious injury pulling off a pass scraping between fences and other riders. No other sport has just fine tollerances between genius and death. But mostly, the fans. The whole social aspect of the sport. Through speedway I have made some damn good friends and worryingly a lot of them Poole fans! I spent more of Cardiff weekend in the company of Poole fans for the second year running and this weekend at the 4TT I was with Poole fans. It just wouldn't happen in any other sport would it where two clubs with such a strong rivalry would spend the weekend together. And there was the nice Leicester fan who lent me a phonebank to charge my phone on the camp site, a Leicester fan helping a Coventry fan? Madness in any other sport. So come on, why is the sport so great in your opinion?

So to confirm, the BSPA declared a few weeks back that Bewdley had to give Edinburgh (PL) priority over BV (NL) but have now decided that rules doesn't matter, it's now the rule about owning clubs/re-arranged meetings that matter? There statement falls at the first hurdle because they made that called a couple of weeks/months back about Edinburgh having priority!

Peterborough vs Coventry 2011, heat 15. 42-42. Peterborough gated on a 5-1 and all 4 riders spent the next 4 laps inches from 1st/4th. The two Bees scraping the fence and the two Panthers riding the kerb. Once the race was over nobody knew who had finished in what position. That Scunny one is a very, very close second though! This is a photo taken on the finish line! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150233933366539&set=a.10150233933346539.359387.700656538&type=3&theater edit> Technically, I'm wrong, as Fisher did pass Batch on the line so there was a pass.

Maybe it should have been announced earlier. To charge £10 to park the car when tickets are only £25 is a bit of a piss take! Whoever is at fault, leaving it until less than 2 weeks before the event to start charging people for extra is really taking the piss. -

Let everyone buy tickets for the meeting and THEN tell everyone you can't park outside and have to pay £5 to park. What a bloody joke Belle Vue Speedway is. -
Coventry V Poole. 15/07/2016 Elb
SCB replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It doesn't cost anything to make some noise! It'd usually pretty obvious if theres anyone there supporting an away team. I maintain that if you sit there making no noise and just watching the racing you're not really supporting your team are you? Anyway, stop making it about you! It was a general, "how can you tell how many away fans are there", if we're talking you alone the answer is, "not many at all" -

They make noise is often a bit of a clue Not really supporting your team if you turning up in neutral clothing and make no noise for them are you? -
18th July 2016 - Wolves V Swindon
SCB replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Olly Allen used to be called Olly Allen R/R by a lot of fans but Joonas Kylmakorpi makes Olly Allen look like one of the fittest and healthiest riders ever! The poor guy seems to pick up injuries all the time! -

Occasionally when they sense a win a few of them turn up but otherwise Wolves are quite poorly supported at Coventry. Not Lakeside levels of poor but still one of the worst. Poole certainly always bring loads, Swindon tend to bring a fair few too. And BV have always had quite a few regardless of how good/bad their team is. -

You mean you don't think Ellis is good enough to overtake the likes of Zmazlik, Dudek, Iversen, Emil and the Lagutas? Yikkes! TBF I can't see Bates or Ellis, even with a flyer that the referee misses holding off riders of SWC final standard just yet. I stand by what I said weeks ago, both should be there, i the pits, regardless of which one gets to wear a set of kevlars. -
Yet Eastbourne say not the case!
-
He's not doubling up. He's full time in both teams. He doesn't share a place in either team to be doubling up. My understanding is doubling up always meant two riders sharing a position, not a rider riding for two teams, because a rider who rides in 3 leagues is not refereed to as tripling up! NL has never had priority over PL. I do agree that the lack of definition of "doubling up" doesn't help here, its the only place it's mentioned in the rulebook. edit> Doubling up is refereed to, in EL team declarations. Nothing about it in PL or NL rules. My definition above is wrong though. A "doubling up rider" appears to be a rider riding in two leagues, but not an EDR, they're EDRs and not double uppers! How about this rule? Quite clear to me!
-
The rulebook says, 3.9 a ii is the relevant bit here. As long as Scunny protested within 4 hours of knowing about Davey (Edinburgh didnt declare him until the morning of the meeting) then the protest is legal. He wasn't legitimately riding for BV though. PL always gets priority over NL. The rulebook says, He's not an EDR to 16.1.1, 16.1.2, 16.1.3 and 16.1.4 are not relevant. PL trumps NL.
-
18.10(e) is relevant because PL ALWAYS takes priority over NL unless it's I believe NLRC or NL 4s. Any gentlemans agreement between BV and Edinburgh is just that. Also, rules state "has never achieved ", not "never at the end of a season achieved". I'm with Scunthorpe on this one. The only bit of sympathy I have with Edinburgh is the NL averages bit you mention. But thats a BSPA cock up and if Scunthorpe can do the research and find out this, why can't Edinburgh?
-
On paper this is a terrible team. It's actually over achieving as a collective, somehow!
