Whats wrong with plodding? I'd rather a rider plod along and score steadily than celebrate the odd win but score less. Sarj has averaged more than Woryna but started the season on a point less. Sarj has put over a point on his average, if every rider had put a point on their average we'd be top of the league. If Woryna was doing that well he'd still be in the 1-5 and Sarj still in reserve we he could plod along scoring 4-5 points- how many numbers 7s score more? Ellis and Starke yes but the rest? Wilkinson has been dropped by Lynn, Jacobs is averaging less than 3, Robert Mear is doing nothing special despite his greater experience, Stef Nielsen, Max Clegg and Ash Morris are all doing worse, as is Coventrys own Josh Bates. Compare his to all the other #7s/3 point men and Sarj is actually doing a very good job. The lad is averaging over 7 in the PL with bonus points, hes come good in recent weeks for Ipswich. Sadly as that happened for Coventry he's been thrust into the 1-5 and it's ruined any confidence he was starting to gain. As I said above, had our team been built properly (either 6 point and not Woryna, or Garrity in reserve) he's be in reserve now doing a decent job. He's not a second string, he should not be at second string but he's done so well he's become one!

Why do the BSPA and clubs insist on running meetings on weeks where so many riders will be missing due to GP qualifiers? Every year we get the same, 1 or two meetings ruined because riders are missing. Then later in the year promoters will be asking why crowds are down or threatening to close down if crowds don't pick up. Pooles tonight at Lakeside is a shambles and it's the fault of 3 lots of people, the BSPA for arranging it for tonight, Lakeside and Poole for agreeing tot he date. It's only luck for Lakeside that they don't have 4 or 5 riders missing too really. I remember once going to Eastbourne with the entire Coventry 1-5 missing for GP qualifiers and having to use Henning Bager, Chris Schramm and Johno. No wonder people stopped going to Eastbourne, they never knew which riders were going to turn up. And while we're on it, Krzysztof Kasprzak will missing Coventrys meetings at Leicester and Lakeside as it clashes with the SEC Championship. Why the hell did we agree to ride them meetings, on them dates knowing KK stood a bloody good chance of being in the SEC? Again, Leicester and Lakeside will be bleating about poor crowds later this year, forgetting it's because Coventry fans didn't bother with either due to having no number 1. And having been to a lot of Lakeside/Coventry meetings I can tell you now, thats a LOT of away fans they could potentially lose. You can change formats, you can have draft riders, various points for meetings results but if riders are missing because of piss poor fixture planning (rather than injury) then you're only killing your product yourself. Speedway needs to sort out it's fixture planning. Let clashes with SEC, GP Qualifiers and for PL double uppers. I don't get why it's so hard?! And the answer is NOT to postpone meetings when this happens. Meetings should NOT be postponed for anything that could have been predicted. Rain/extreme circumstances only. Fixtures need to stop being changed all the time too.

Whatever it is he's been doing, it's better than Bates and Woryna which is why he find himself at #4 despite only being #7 in our initial averages. The failing is not Sarj's, it's Worynas. If we had a 6 point man in Worynas place then Sarj would still be in reserve and would be plodding along nicely. Now if we'd had someone decent at 4 and Garrity had started in reserve then Sarj would be deemed to be having a pretty good season. It's unfair to have a go at the lad who is out of position because our management signed a rubbish team.

Until this week every Sky meeting has been ok to great. Then we have Berwick, a complete borefest and that was followed up by Glasgow that was made good by the fact Berwick was so bad that Glasgow looked OK but frankly, Glasgow wasn't up to much. It always amuses me that a meeting that is anything better than bad in the PL is seen as brilliant, any EL meeting thats less than good is the end of the EL. You get good bad and indifferent in both leagues.

Which is odd. Because Newman has missed more meetings due to injury/illness than Jason has in the last 3 seasons.

Leicester V Coventry Mon 27th June
SCB replied to stevethelion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I swear every club he's be involved in his been a disaster. Sacked by Lynn as he couldn't use a calculator and built a team over the points limit. Went a full season at Mildenhall without recording a single win, the less said about Newport the better (although maybe harsh to blame him for that) and Coventry, well, whats he done? For a club that seems to have a lot of managers and promoters we fail badly. -
Live On Sky: Berwick V Workington, Monday, June 27th
SCB replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Close? Close? I gave up after heat 6 because I had see 6 gate and go races with the riders all so spread it out that there wasn't a hope in hell of a pass. The first time I think I have ever turned on a speedway meeting once I had started watching. That was dull, utterly dull unless it got better after the first 6 heats but I would imagine a lot of people turned off before then to watch the football. Didn't help that the picture was abysmal. Flickering and jumping all over the place. Still, we've had about a dozen meetings on TV this year, league, GP and even a British Final that was ruined because of rain and it's taken this long to get a naff meeting, its still a vintage season for TV meetings. Hopefully it keeps some of the anti-snobs quiet for a while too. You get crap racing in all league/levels from time to time. -

So out of his depth in reserve he's averaging more than 2 others in the team? He's done just fine in reserve, remember he is a #7 and has been doing the job he was signed to do. The issue is Woryna hasn't really done much, has dropped to reserve and it's not cleaning up as he should be. 6 point man in for Woryna means some points in reserve for Sarj. Woryna should have replaced Wilkinson in his 3rd. He was allowed 7 rides -

As a 19 year old he's not done bad job compared to any other 19 year old you pick. He's clearly got something and will probably mature into a reasonable enough rider. I quite like him but I'm still utterly frustrated we have him when we could have fitted in a 6 point rider. As a team we're not doing too bad, had we had a rider at 4 who was scoring 6 or 7 rather than 3 or 4 we'd be doing a lot better. -

TBF if Garrity performed badly everywhere he'd had a big crash he's be terrible everywhere -
Exactly that. Already said if I was a rider Id roll up to the tapes, call over the start marshal ans if he didn't move the tapes I'd ride over them. But would that be delaying the start?

I just don't see this being a Woryna track. Sarj will struggle in the 1-5. Big pressure on out 1-3 but they can do it. Garrity isn't bad around Leicester either. As in the Cov/Leciester meeting earlier in the season at Brandon I see the Bees top end barely dropping points but the lower order barely scoring points. Needs 1 of the Bees bottom 4 to ride well to swing it, if two of them come to the party then easy Bees win. I'll take a 46-44 Bees win! -
Coventry Storm V Birmingham - Sunday 26th June - 4pm
SCB replied to NeilWatson's topic in National League Speedway
He used to do second halves at Coventry. I've seen him a few times and decided I liked him, had the most amazing style, was certainly unorthodox the first time I saw him and constantly looked half a second from crashing. -
He qualified, how can there be any doubt! Short of only having nominated riders you'll never stop some riders who we tink are not good enough from qualifying. But suggest no qualifiers and only wildcards (despite wildcards generally doing better than qualifiers) and a lot of people will go mad at you!

Sadly if he now has a British passport I don't think the BSPA could stop it officially. I'm still disappointed Coventry signed him though -

Frankly, only 1 of them has much hope of being a PL rider! The whole Storm singing policy has been pretty damn weird since day 1. -
TBF, you're out dated there. Thats just not how you buy games and software any more. As a developer I love this, keeps making me/us money but as a purchaser of software it drives me mad. It also tends to make it harder to get dodgy copies.

SCB replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Cost more and you have to wait in queue to get back to your card. A few years ago when I lived in Cardiff I managed to get home, have a shower and walk back into town and people were still queuing! Would have been about an hour after the meeting. Still say Pellett Street is the answer -
I'm curios as to why more don't. Especially someone like Harris who has nothing to lose. I seem to remember it being said they get you out the start but are not as good over the 4 laps but if you're not getting out the starts and not passing people you may as well give them a go! As for the GP it's self, I watched it last night when I got in from Cardiff celebrating a Wales win in the Euros. So to see Bomber riding reasonably well was a joy. His ride in the semi was as good a rider as you'll see from anyone. Chuffed with 3rd. Also pleased that Doyley got a win, I have a soft spot for him and have always rated him. I remember arguing on here years ago he was capable of top 5 in the World and being laughed at, I wish I could find it and see what those who told me I was wrong think now! He's been a genuine threat in the GPs for 12 months now. Finally, not had a bad GP in 2016, not had a bad Sky meeting in 2016. What the hell is going on? It's giving very little to moan about

Pellett Street CF10 4FD. Thats probably the cheapest car park, cost £7 for up to 24 hours. Most car parks once you get over 5 hours you're talking £10-20. You'd be a 10 minute walk away. The alternative is park in any of the other car parks and look at spending £15-20. The other option is to park at Cathays train station and jump on a train for about £3 per person - you could walk it in about 20 mins too. But you probably won't save much if anything on parking that way so I wouldn't bother. Pellett Street would be my suggestion -

So rubbish he's averaging more in the PL than his start average and he's moved from reserve into the 1-5 on the EL? If only Covrntry and Ipswich had 6 other rubbish riders. -

Huge pressure on Berwick. Not had a dull Sky meeting this season, Even Leicester was watchable! -
But the point is he'll put points on his average so is worth "big bucks". Pay peanuts, get monkeys!

Have we had a poor Sky meeting yet this season? Leicester got pass marks, the GB Final only really got pass marks too but wouldn't have started at most tracks and wouldn't have ended at any other so can be excused. All the GPs have been good too. It's been a great year for televised speedway (Prague in the GPs next and PL dross next week though ) -
Dont think in about 3 seasons he ever got 3 in the PL. 2.xx averages. Probably get about 6 in the NL.
