  1. I said "at that age"blue, screenie straight into the top league, remember when think it was leigh Adams was tearing up the national league(now championship)and a 17yr old screen came down to poole for three match races against him and leigh couldn't get near him,Cairns is going to have to go some to be better than screen in the early yrs
  2. Assume Cairns could have gone to any div2 team but poole would be fairly logical choice. If he's as talented as people think then those advising and controlling his progress will probably want him at Poole for 25 and 26 seasons after that need to move on,wouldn't think his Polish club will want him racing in british lower league to long, great for poole could start 26 as second string and finish as heat leader!! Only time will tell though, will he be as good as Joe screen at that age???
  3. I thought gavan made an interesting point a while back that maybe matt ford didn't want vinys baggage, like a lot on here I follow moto gp and if he behaved like that to the crowd whatever the provocation he would have been punished ,the racing incident would have been dealt with separately maybe " no further action " or 'long lap penalty etc 'Regarding his father it happens in moto gp that if a parent behaves badly(usually the father!)they are banned from the team garage and the paddock, there have even been cases where team sponsors (admittedly usually major companies) have made demands on riders behaviour and even asked for their removal.Maybe matt ford just didn't want the hassle???
  4. But probably in the weakest league for years, all relative
  5. Good to see you at non league match yesterday catalan, great afternoons entertainment, over a thousand there and most of them would prefer non league to prem league! But that outlook somehow doesn't apply in speedway ??
  6. forum crashes as members google "spectrum disorder"
  7. i know its a minority sport and hardly aybody has any interest in it ,but its to do with credibility we could have a team not in the premier league winning the premier league cup, could need 4 replacements a no1,a heat leader and 2 reserves perhaps which might have to change for every match,no offence gavan but i hope ipswich get knocked out then we could use doyle and sayfutdinov.Should just be called the invitation cup.why didnt they announce at the start of this sesaon that champioship winners would qualify?
  8. Who thinks up these micky mouse ideas ?? Tho does this open up the way for poole town fc to play in the champions league?
  9. yep that masters track would have been a test for anybodys shoulder!!
  10. arthur and lisa believe your over thinking this and certainly planning to far ahead, train schedules to a non existent stadium ha ha
  11. Good post Ian,I suppose the answer would have been for the speedway promotion to have taken the long lease on the stadium when the council made it available, my understanding is that the lease was 'free' on condition that certain works were carried out(main one being the new grandstand).Unfortunately the poole promotion like most other speedway promotions lacked foresight(hats off to the facennas)and opted for the 'easy'option of renting with no thought for the future .when I read people saying poole speedway and its main sponsors will now take on the stadium! I think why didn't they do it when they had the chance??Not a criticism decisions have to be made at the time.
  12. Certainly didn't stop very large crowds(3or 4 times speedway crowds)attending the cars and I believe motocross in the past, but seemingly a complete no go now for speedway
  13. Oxford don't own the stadium, different company names formed for ownership but still really owned by Galliards, playing the long game
  14. Pretty straight bloke Neil M,imagine he's been told to come out with something like that,Matt always thinking about the dollar haha
  15. So your saying "fromafar" was wrong saying they'd go bust that mustbe good news, you do understand there's no way you would ever be privy to Matt ford's financial details or many other details! But I still say if it was common knowledge the prem wasn't a viable option for the pirates riders would have to take that into consideration
  16. Agree better to run than go bust tho didn't realise the promotion are sailing so close to the wind, know the French gaff needs shifting but thought speedway was solid (even allowing for tenuous landlord situation)Of course if as you say they will go bust by moving up then it would be very difficult to attract riders for a Premiership team anyway now they know that
  17. Winning in the top league against the top teams would be an even greater achievement.
  18. Would a guest ask for a different guarantee depending on track, opposition etc ??
  19. Like your thinking but how far can poole plan ahead!!
  20. All BSB rounds are £47 admission covering all three days plus free parking, think that's good value.
  21. No rider has to take a guest booking, doesn't have to explain why he declined the booking
  22. Will he be signed by belle Vue and loaned out to the 2nd div or will poole sign him?either way brilliant work by the poole promotion.with the apparent tremendous talent he's got hell not be hanging around with poole for more than a couple of seasons but could be match winner, finish first season on 5 and second season on 8 !!!
  23. Oxford dog meeting for today cancelled, stadium flooded apparently not just the track.
