  1. The poo incident when they watered the track with a tanker full of slurry (liquidfied cow manure) was the final straw of several incidents like temporary flood light failure ones used on roadworks in the late 80's not being up to standard, poor maintained track, Glasgow track staff turned up late afternoon on a Friday for the evening meeting, also key track staff often turning up hard on meeting time, after being at work in Glasgow during the day. The bspa and Glasgow promotion pulled the plug with a few matches left to run, also was not supported well by local comets fans, despite name change to Workington tigers
  2. As for the wishfull thinking of Edinburgh coming to Brough Park for a season, I don't think in the present financial climate it would work, too high a cost for fans to travel down every week whether it by bus or car. A lot of local fans won't support any team other than an out and out Newcastle team, did not work for Glasgow at Workington in 1987 and that ended before the season finished due to the poo incident!!!
  3. Yea but has closed down, so bond and riders will revert to bspa, that's how it used to work to stop fly boys pocketing everything, but looks like this one has slipped through the net !!
  4. Think all assets, that if Newcastle have any that are worth anything !!!, revert back to bspa (or whatever they call themselves these days ) to potentially pay off any debt's this happens either mid season or in the closed season
  5. Had money on Dan each GP, apart from this one as I'm in Greece was 100/1 at 1st GP went down to 30/1 at the last one, got a stupid / lucky couple of £s each way to win over all at 125/1 at beginning of season
  6. No problem beat bartosz and lambert game on
  7. Should av took more notice THJ gave us a clue
  8. Dan Bewley has topped qualifying for gp tonight so got 1st choice of riding position, can see him making the final tonight For any Workington based fans I've heard station road club are gonna have the speedway on in the laal room shame I'm in Greece but will be watching updates and hopefully my app will work to catch up later
  9. Ty Procter? May day weekend versus berwick I was over from the west
  10. Be cheaper paying a guest than a guarantee that bomber maybe on,
  11. The track is actually quite sheltered, wot do you mean it never gets cold in West Cumbria
  12. See Mr shovler (of rubbishe ) has not been back to reply !! Maybe he reliezes what crap he was talking, but suppose watching Poole won't know what a good speedway track is like
  13. Wait till it's finished before you start being picky The guys are doing a great job and taking a great risk in the present speedway or financial climate
  14. No !!! Yes both local one is now going backwards the other has not gone forwards yet
  15. You Muppet even Stevie wonder can see the viewing area will be from on top of the earth mound which is still to be covered with road planeings, think back straight of Redcar, I have been down to the track and standing on top of the earth mould it feels like you are floating over the track looking down, it has potential to be even better than belle Vue. . good luck to all involved maybe someone could highjack some of the GB or rest of world riders on way up to Glasgow for a blast around??
  16. Yea even though team gb have new management still looks like your face has got to fit, like in rosco's era !!! Palin was going in right direction but seams to have lost a bit,Edwards seams to be doing well
  17. In Greece at the moment but just looked at hotel prices looks like I'm not staying over
  18. Not a very good line up imo so will not be travelling from Cumbria will keep my money for the gp challenge in August when hopefully I can get a cheap train ticket and stay overnite for a few drinks
  19. Unfortunately no speedway to talk about so got to talk about something
  20. Hopefully comets will be back next year and won't be a laughing matter as the track is looking to be awesome. Everyone will be flocking down to watch the racing
  21. Not me this time !!! I'm on holiday in Greece but still laughing at the result
  22. Heard at the end of last season that the diamonds just about broke even for the season, but this was due to crowd funding, 2 possible last ever meetings and a couple of attractive double headers, plus substantial burger sales, but this year a very poor team meaning very few people coming through the gates, and the current financial state everyone is coming under not unexpected news today
  23. Geoff from what THJ has said on here in the past and what he has told me a couple of times, I don't think he will comment any further sad day for Newcastle but as be said several times why has the bspa or whatever they are called these day let an under strength team get this far into the season
  24. Sad news but unfortunately not unexpected,p maybe the burger sales are losing money as well !! so the plug has been pulled, can't see anyone willing to put money in to save it especially in today's financial climate
