Berwick v Redcar Saturday 14/05/22 7pm
Gambo95 replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thanks for the info. Maybe having a trainee in charge and putting the red lights on when the riders are in the 3rd/4th bend with Lee Complin (after being taken out in a first bend incident) in the first bend fence isn't the best (was 2nd time I looked at the refs box). Wonder if any of the races will be posted on social media like the last few weeks? -
Berwick v Redcar Saturday 14/05/22 7pm

Berwick rode well considering they lost Jye in heat 1. Well done to Redcar. Wonder if Charles could have been excluded for causing the accident in heat 1? Lee seemed mad after getting pushed very wide by Adam on the first and second bend and had steamed passed when Adam fell. Who was the referee as the listed referee was standing in the back of the box and not in control of the buttons? When I go to the football I usually get a trained referee and not a trainee doing a professional game. -
The current state of the SGB CHAMPIONSHIP
Gambo95 replied to TTT's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Whilst I agree with you that it's not good for speedway, this thing seems to happen every season. Take last season, Peterborough won the league using guests and r/r for most of the season. Since it's easy to get riders why did Peterborough not bother having a full 1-7 (oh yes they were stronger without signing another rider). -
BERWICK v BELLE VUE (Saturday, May 7th, 7pm)

Is it after these matches that Ben and Keiron move to reserve? Thought I seen somewhere that they are now at reserve. -
BERWICK v NEWCASTLE (Championship) Sat 30th 7pm

I wouldn't be happy if a team manager came up to me and said we are putting you in heat 15 but you are not going out onto the track. You are going to be excluded under the 2 minute rule. If he said go out and try to anticipate the start. If you hit the tapes we will replace you then that wouldn't be as bad as there is the possibility you could get the race points. -
Newcastle vs Berwick SGB Championship 1 May 4pm
Gambo95 replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done to Newcastle on the win. Hope the injured riders are ok. Wouldn't say our riders though when the guest scored twice the points in 1 match than the rider he was replacing scored in three. Hopefully Newcastle can get that situation sorted out and have a good season. -
Newcastle vs Berwick SGB Championship 1 May 4pm

If Wright gets away with the rollers he was getting away with last night I would expect him to get lots of points. Hopefully Berwick can get something from the meeting. -
What's wrong with saying you should get £13 off a readmission ticket when you see 2 out of 15 heats? I think that is fair. All I know is that out of the last 4 meetings I have attended at Birmingham while on holiday I have only seen 1 meeting reach its conclusion (Coventry). I have seen Mildenhall, Edinburgh, and Leicester be abandoned. Think people remember the Redcar meeting at the start of last year also. Wish Josh a speedy recovery.
-
Totally shocking if you ask me. Would have thought you would get £13 or £14 off the next meeting at least (saying it's roughly a pound a heat). The meeting didn't continue due to something Birmingham could control (medical cover) and not something Birmingham couldn't control (weather).

Was going to go to the Poole meeting last week on the way home from a family holiday.

Glasgow v Berwick CL 22/4/22 @19-30
Gambo95 replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Glasgow have probably the best team on paper and have built right up to the points limit. Think very few teams will get 40 at Glasgow. Don't think Berwick will be one of them unless one of their riders has an off night. -
BANDITS v MONARCHS (Saturday, April 16th) 6.30

Was there not more passes in the first 2 or 3 races at Berwick than in the whole meeting at Redcar last week? -
BANDITS v MONARCHS (Saturday, April 16th) 6.30

I had to turn round and park down a side street a bit away from the stadium due to the shows being in the car park. Think that would be the main problem as lots of others were doing the same thing so it made me 20+ minutes later than I normally would be. People in front of me said the speedway are not consulted with regards to the shows being there. -
BERWICK v OXFORD (NDL) Saturday, April 9th (7pm)

I said to the person next to me about Jenkins having an extra ride and he said he doesn't think he can. Must have announced when I was at the toilet. -
BERWICK v OXFORD (NDL) Saturday, April 9th (7pm)
Gambo95 replied to crescent girl's topic in National League Speedway
Was some misfortune on both sides with Berwick losing points from Piper's fall and Douglas appearing to lose power and rerun with Buckley miles in front after passing in heat 6. Wouldn't class Jenkins coming down in heat 15 as lost points as he t-boned Kyle causing a major crash. Take it there is no tactical's in the national League? -
You can make the numbers look any way you want though. The number 3 and 5's combined points were 25 for Edinburgh (14 & 11) whereas the Berwick total was 12 (8 & 4). Need your seven riders to score more than the other teams seven (no matter who scored the points).
-
Totally agree. He is the same with every decision at Berwick going to the other team.
-
He has always been terrible at Berwick. Good to see others seeing how bad he is.
-
See Chris and Leon have been interviewed on the speedway network platform. Will possibly get the Berwick away matches when they are on.

I have just had a quick look through the fixtures on the website (SGB). Obviously Oxford are involved in some of these fixtures but there is only 3 times during the season when all 4 teams are racing a team meeting (championship) on a Friday night (8th July, 15th and 22nd April). On the 15th April Poole are also racing at home.
-
That's why Berwick ran a meeting with two six man teams last year (to give them practice this year). The rider takes the points left so being second in the averages means everyone will be eligible to take a ride. This method was shown to work last year by Peterborough so Berwick are trying the same this year.

Liam Carr?

Don't think I have seen him on a 500 but looks good on his 250. He had some good races with Luke and he is the 250cc champion. If he makes progress through the season then that's the main thing. If he has half as good a season as Sam McGurk has just had he will be doing his job in the team.

Just seen the draw. The first round ties are teams from different regional groups. The quarter final could have only one tie with teams meeting another team from the same regional group. I like to see local derbies as there in more chance of me attending the meetings (in the early stages of the competition). I'm more concerned you race as a 7 man team in the qualifiers for a competition and the final is raced as a 6 man team competition. Surely changing the format half way through a competition is more of a concern.
