I have just had a quick look through the fixtures on the website (SGB). Obviously Oxford are involved in some of these fixtures but there is only 3 times during the season when all 4 teams are racing a team meeting (championship) on a Friday night (8th July, 15th and 22nd April). On the 15th April Poole are also racing at home.

That's why Berwick ran a meeting with two six man teams last year (to give them practice this year). The rider takes the points left so being second in the averages means everyone will be eligible to take a ride. This method was shown to work last year by Peterborough so Berwick are trying the same this year.

Liam Carr?

Don't think I have seen him on a 500 but looks good on his 250. He had some good races with Luke and he is the 250cc champion. If he makes progress through the season then that's the main thing. If he has half as good a season as Sam McGurk has just had he will be doing his job in the team.

Just seen the draw. The first round ties are teams from different regional groups. The quarter final could have only one tie with teams meeting another team from the same regional group. I like to see local derbies as there in more chance of me attending the meetings (in the early stages of the competition). I'm more concerned you race as a 7 man team in the qualifiers for a competition and the final is raced as a 6 man team competition. Surely changing the format half way through a competition is more of a concern.

I prefer the 2 semi finals with 3 teams joining the hosts (or current champions). If the Laguta brothers and Emil were to race they would have 2 qualifiers to go through before any final. They didn't get any favours this year so they were seeded to the final despite being treble winners so I would be against four teams being seeded next year.

Tend to agree. What was Edinburgh's take on the situation when he was surplus to requirements in 2019? If he wasn't informed at the start that he wasn't in the plans then he maybe thought he wasn't going to get burnt twice? It's never good hearing from someone else that he is going somewhere else.

Will depend more on who other teams have racing for them. Could be wrong but is it only Berwick, Newcastle and Redcar who have named any riders. The 3 Berwick have named is a good start to the team so most Berwick fans will be happy (me included).

I think the U24 league could be good also. Why does the team at the top of the league not get to choose their opponents? The team that finished 6th could be the only team to take the bonus point of the team in first so that team could be the last team they would pick (eg Peterborough didn't pick Sheffield this year after Sheffield won at Peterborough but that would have been the seeding if UK took that method)? There is no real advantage to being top other than having the choice of having the 2nd leg at home. -
Would say it's a formality but I have been wrong the last 3 seasons so it will be interesting to see who gets the award. Should possibly be closer for the Bullets rider of the year. Shame I will miss the event as I am visiting family next weekend.

Berwick v Glasgow Saturday 11 September, 7pm
Gambo95 replied to George Dodds's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The referees report says Leon Flint not under power at time of the stoppage for a starting offence (from the speedwaygb website). Broc Nicol was warned for moving at the start. In the re run Aaron was warned after the race (after being pulled by funnily enough Broc Nicol). -

Seems when there was an unsatisfactory start at Peterborough (Scott Nicholls moved and Cook stopped) it was all 4 back. Why was Leon excluded when he looped at Berwick when there was an unsatisfactory start? -
Berwick doesn't always have the best of teams but for the last 6 or 7 seasons they seem to have a couple of paramedics and an ambulance as well as the track ambulance. Sure it was mentioned that they have a first aid room as well. Seen Redcar mention the cost earlier in the season also. Maybe the promoters should be told there has to be adequate cover for any semi final and all matches in the play offs?

I don't get your point about Raducanu? Emma played 3 qualifying rounds to qualify for the US Open (like the qualifiers for the GP). She didn't get a wildcard?

This is where having an outside body running the sport would be an advantage. Teams don't say I'm not playing in the FA cup this week because I want to catch up with a league match. Remember a few years ago when Ipswich waited for about 6 months (beginning of April to end of September) to race in the next round of the cup. Should be cut off points through the season and if the tie isn't raced questions are asked and teams are thrown out the competition if there isn't a decent reason. It's Edinburgh and Leicester who are holding the competition up by not having raced the quarter final meetings. As I said previously there should be cut off points set out for meetings. The cut off point should have remained as the 16th (think that's when it was) September. For places in the playoffs the seeding should have been done by giving the away team 4 points in all matches not raced (BSPA work out and not put on the league table) before the cut off point. The meetings would then be raced after the cut off point and the playoffs etc could be run. The league meetings could be run between rounds etc if there is spare dates and you would then not have league/ cups decided on the last couple of days of the season. COVID isn't the reason for the delay because the same thing happens every season (as various others have pointed out). Poland had their final last week and Sweden have their finals this week so it can be done. Denmark was the previous week also.

There would be 3 options if it was me in charge. Give Poole the title. Have a final between Poole and Glasgow. Have semi finals between Poole, Glasgow, Scunthorpe and Redcar (removing the teams who didn't race their home match). There should have been a cut off point of the weekend just passed for the quarter finals, next weekend for the semi finals to allow time for the final. It should be the same in the KOC. Race Poole v Glasgow in the final (Glasgow won't have raced in the KOC since July).
-
Should have left the cut off point where it was. For league positions in the playoffs the SCB could have awarded 4 points to the away team (still race the meetings after the cut off point to get the proper results) so the playoffs could have started. It's the same every year so covid isn't an excuse. Not really fair on Scunthorpe and Edinburgh who will go in not having raced a match for a while (although they are just as close to finishing bottom of the league as they are to the top) due to them getting their matches raced.

Has Kyle pulled out the meeting?

Seems to count at most tracks now unfortunately. Reading updates most passes listed are there or on back straight (Birmingham and Scunthorpe were the same last week when I last checked the updates site).

We thought the same with Leon's exclusion (Nichol warned for moving at the start so surely Leon wasn't the cause of the stoppage). In the re-run he moved again just about sending Aaron through the tapes but the race continued with Aaron being warned. Various dodgy starts including Cook being ready to race about a minute after the 2minutes had elapsed in heat 13 (completely ignoring the start Marshall). Hopefully Berwick don't get allocated this referee much next season as I can remember him being the referee for 3 home defeats this season (possibly more?). -

Berwick had a challenge meeting a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully Jason carries on from his heat 15 form from a few weeks ago (agree he hasn't signed). -
Missed the announcement as I was waiting for food etc but others said that it would be his last match for Berwick (so possibly doing guest bookings?). Think the four or five Edinburgh fans in front of me did more celebrating than the Berwick fans with the win (didn't think they would cheer on Berwick until I was told it helps them with Berwick winning).
-
Edinburgh didn't have their original team after replacing Lawson with Rowe? Was said somewhere that Edinburgh new team average would indicate a 2 star rising star due to the team change (someone who knows a lot more than me).
-
Sure Berwick had to use R/R for Leon at Newcastle. Possibly able to use a rising star? Cannot use average from what I remember.
