  1. I do miss the days where riders had their own personally designed kevlars, but also appreciate the matching team kevlars look smart. The flashiest has to be Joe Screen’s old ones, IMO. Arm tassels and a big Union Jack covering his entire back. Anders Thomsen is also worth a mention when we’re talking. His white and gold is like drug dealer sheikh.
  2. An excellent post. This great sport is down to its bare bones. We’re fast approaching a scenario where the Premiership and Championship resemble the old Champions League group format due to clubs dying of financial struggle. Speedway needs fresh blood on the terraces. It’s non-negotiable. It’s the only solution. If we move to an all-streaming coverage, then I fear it’ll be one of the final nails in the coffin for British speedway.
  3. Villads Nagel has a remarkable style. Probably the most all-action style I’ve seen at Ashfield. He’s looking under his handlebars with his right leg in the air coming off corners. It’s cost him a few times, but with experience, he’ll have more control.
  4. Interesting topic and a thought provoking subject, @Youhave2minutes. Lots of great suggestions, but given you’ve asked for only one, I’m going to go for Brian Andersen, former Coventry Bees’ captain and Danish international. A classy rider who I imagine looked as relaxed sitting in an armchair as he did on a speedway bike. He made it look easy. EDIT If I recall correctly, he won the British GP at Odsal in… 1997?
  5. Well done Redcar. Fantastic from Jody Scott. @CamiCreamCakes get him signed for next season.
  6. All on the line and that’s what we get. Gate and go. Gavin Parr should offer Middleditch the trophy in exchange for preparing a track for entertainment next season. Woeful speedway. A terrible advert for the sport again.
  7. That’s ridiculous from Lawson. Jesus Christ. There’s hard racing, then there’s out of control and dangerous.
  8. Really? That’s surprising. Wimborne Road usually serves up some fantastic speedway. 🎷
  9. The answer is obviously ”yes”. What a ride from Scott again. So unlucky. I actually thought Edwards held Scott up there. That was an easy 5-1 for Redcar. @BoringNeilMiddlo, GET THE TRACTOR OIT AND REMOVE THAT DIRT.
  10. Still buzzing from this, a few days later. What an advert for speedway. Howarth’s move on Cook was so tough, but fair, and Lawson tried the same on Howarth and Harris. Love it. Watched the meeting back this afternoon and Cook sounded a bit sheepish in his interview after Howarth’s move, but to say he responded is an understatement. He became Poole’s talisman. Harris’ move on him in heat 15 defies logic. Breathtaking. Gutted it’s over until April.
  11. Need to build a higher fence around the track if Allen’s going to Redcar.
  12. Hopefully not. With all due respect to the younger Pijper, I’ve saw him a couple of times this season and he hasn’t looked anywhere near ready for Championship speedway. I’d happily take Hodder and Perry back; give them an opportunity to build a tough season, but if forced to pick one, it’s a no brainer in Hodder. If we can steal Loftus from Edinburgh, then we’d be laughing. He’s got great potential and the Facenna’s could send his gran back in Australia a mobility motor to sweeten the deal. What do you think, @Mr Blobby? Deal?
  13. 😂😂😂 Hang on. So you’re telling me Poole don’t want to prepare a track for proper racing and entertainment because they’re worried it won’t generate enough publicity and sponsorship in comparison to not preparing a track for racing and entertainment!?😂 Get a grip, Steve. You can win the league and host entertaining racing; it isn’t either or.
  14. I think we need to apply logic here for the sake of speedway as a spectacle. If Poole attract crowds now, imagine what they’d attract if they prepared the track for racing. Additionally, they build incredibly strong sides, so imagine the levels of entertainment Lawson, Cook, Rowe, etc. could deliver if given the opportunity. There is not enough at stake (no promotion, no multi-million pound win bonus or no open top bus tour through the city to celebrate) to justify what happened on Wednesday night. Poole’s riders showed on Friday night that they can put on a show. It’s so said neither side was afforded the opportunity.
  15. 😂🥸 Sorry mate; went along on Friday night, then had a busy weekend. Gutted, but what a meeting. All credit to both sets of riders who left nothing in the pits. That’s all I wanted on Wednesday night too, but felt the track didn’t allow for it. That’s done though. I’m gutted we lost in such heartbreaking circumstances, but give me a tie over two legs and a loss in the race-off every single season if we’re served that sort of racing. An absolute pleasure. I hope everyone enjoyed it. This fantastic sport might be struggling, but Glasgow and Poole, take a bow. Both sets of riders were like gladiators.
  16. Gutted 2025 is over and can’t wait for 2026. Looking forward to the team building this winter. This season, we announced all seven riders at once (although several were known in advance). I’m not sure how I feel about that again; one-by-one announcements or all at once. Personally, I want Harris back. He’s remarkable. I’m almost lost for words, he’s that entertaining. As I’m sure every Tigers fan would, I’d welcome back Nagel, but I imagine he’ll have bigger priorities on the continent. Who knows? I’d also welcome back Flint. I was hugely critical of his early season form, but not only did he improve, but he appears to have become a big presence in the pits. I think Hodder has shown signs of development too, so I’d happily see him back at Ashfield next season. I can’t imagine Thompson will entertain the Championship next season and I’m still a bit scunnered by Howarth’s showings in heat 15 and the race-off, so right now, I’m not keen. Perry’s given 100%, but I think it’s clear he’s struggled, especially in recent weeks while Hodder has improved. New signings? Loftus from Edinburgh looks like he’s got a lot of promise.
  17. 😂🥸 What a meeting. Absolutely heartbreaking, but f**king hell, what a speedway meeting. As I said in the Poole topic, a massive congratulations to the Pirates who did as they so often do and deliver when the chips are down. That was a captain’s performance from Zach Cook. The racing was remarkable; some of the best I’ve seen. Inside, outside, Glasgow, Poole, ding, dong, back and forth. If you could bottle Friday night, British speedway would be prime time on Sky Sports. 100%. It had everything and more. That Harris pass in heat 15, the one where Harris passed two at the same time, Kerr on Flint, Harris versus Lawson, Lawson throwing everything at Howarth, Howarth bullying Cook and Cook responding by taking the trophy back to Dorset. Honestly, wow. What a sport. Speedway won on Friday night, not just Poole. It was a pleasure as always, Pirates.
  18. Massive congratulations to Poole. I’ve been vocal about Wimborne Road and will continue to be, but Friday night was a champions performance. It was heartbreaking as a Glasgow fan, but what a battle. It meant so much to both teams. The gradually developing Tigers versus Pirates rivalry is fantastic for British speedway. I thought although there was a lot of racing left, Cook and Kerr’s wins in heats 12 and 14 swung the momentum in your direction. The chips were down and those race wins over Thompson and Flint, sadly for us, were huge. Honestly, congratulations. Another stellar season for the Pirates which will likely end in a treble. Enjoy.
