Glasgow Tigers 2026
TheWellBehavedWorrall replied to SilentLurker's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Gutted 2025 is over and can’t wait for 2026. Looking forward to the team building this winter. This season, we announced all seven riders at once (although several were known in advance). I’m not sure how I feel about that again; one-by-one announcements or all at once. Personally, I want Harris back. He’s remarkable. I’m almost lost for words, he’s that entertaining. As I’m sure every Tigers fan would, I’d welcome back Nagel, but I imagine he’ll have bigger priorities on the continent. Who knows? I’d also welcome back Flint. I was hugely critical of his early season form, but not only did he improve, but he appears to have become a big presence in the pits. I think Hodder has shown signs of development too, so I’d happily see him back at Ashfield next season. I can’t imagine Thompson will entertain the Championship next season and I’m still a bit scunnered by Howarth’s showings in heat 15 and the race-off, so right now, I’m not keen. Perry’s given 100%, but I think it’s clear he’s struggled, especially in recent weeks while Hodder has improved. New signings? Loftus from Edinburgh looks like he’s got a lot of promise. -
😂🥸 What a meeting. Absolutely heartbreaking, but f**king hell, what a speedway meeting. As I said in the Poole topic, a massive congratulations to the Pirates who did as they so often do and deliver when the chips are down. That was a captain’s performance from Zach Cook. The racing was remarkable; some of the best I’ve seen. Inside, outside, Glasgow, Poole, ding, dong, back and forth. If you could bottle Friday night, British speedway would be prime time on Sky Sports. 100%. It had everything and more. That Harris pass in heat 15, the one where Harris passed two at the same time, Kerr on Flint, Harris versus Lawson, Lawson throwing everything at Howarth, Howarth bullying Cook and Cook responding by taking the trophy back to Dorset. Honestly, wow. What a sport. Speedway won on Friday night, not just Poole. It was a pleasure as always, Pirates.

Massive congratulations to Poole. I’ve been vocal about Wimborne Road and will continue to be, but Friday night was a champions performance. It was heartbreaking as a Glasgow fan, but what a battle. It meant so much to both teams. The gradually developing Tigers versus Pirates rivalry is fantastic for British speedway. I thought although there was a lot of racing left, Cook and Kerr’s wins in heats 12 and 14 swung the momentum in your direction. The chips were down and those race wins over Thompson and Flint, sadly for us, were huge. Honestly, congratulations. Another stellar season for the Pirates which will likely end in a treble. Enjoy.

redcar racing bears v Poole FTG pirates
TheWellBehavedWorrall replied to Coraldon's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The topic title.😂 -
Changing the name to Wimborne Library, given it’s been impersonating the entertainment value of one for years.

Mike, you seem like an intelligent bloke, but listen to yourself. You’ve just suggested the crowd may have impressed newcomers. Are you being serious? We follow one of the most dramatic sports on the planet. Glasgow v Edinburgh a few weeks ago was nothing short of remarkable. That is the spectacle of Speedway. I suggested two Dorset based colleagues go along last night and neither did, but one purchased the stream to watch with his boy and let’s just say he won’t be a repeat subscriber to BSN.
-
I spoke to him this morning and he said he had planned on riding in the UK next season, but changed his mind after last night. He said he’s not flying thousands of miles to play follow the leader. He said he wants to entertain fans. He also said tell LisaColette to stop talking rubbish in the Poole v Glasgow topic. He then said Ben Cook buys his race suits from Build-A-Bear.
-
Your naivety means you can’t see the forest for the trees. If you don’t have the mental capacity to process what last night would represent for the casual newcomer - our sport’s target market - then attempting to engage in discussion with you is a futile exercise. The on-going collapse of British speedway continues.
-
Does that make it acceptable and tolerable? Let’s not beat around the bush; instances like last night will be a catalyst for the death of this sport. As I said last night, I encouraged two Bournemouth based colleagues to attend or tune in last night. Non-speedway fans. One tuned in with his son and won’t be doing so again. To the neutral (our target market), it was a dire spectacle. Poole can enjoy their trophy cabinet in 5-10 years when their only meetings are exhibition ones, twice per-season, because UK speedway is dead. I repeat: that wasn’t home track advantage, that was racing prevention.
-
I’m referring to genuine overtaking during a race. If you want to count someone correcting a poor gate and selecting the wrong line as a pass within the first half lap, then be my guest. To be quite frank, there’s a lot to be debated here, but your comment is downright unintelligent. Don’t quote me again.
-
We shouldn’t need a centralised track preparation protocol, but Poole are forcing the sport’s hand. Home track advantage is one thing; it’s inevitable through regular racing, but what we saw last night was racing prevention. An utterly dreadful advert for a sport that is dying a slow death and the worst thing? It’s intentional.
-
Something has to be done. Should track preparation be centralised? Should the BSPA employ the track staff, so preparation is done in the interest of a quality product? Let familiarity be the advantage to the home team, thus allowing both teams to go toe-to-toe. By the way, one of those colleagues I mentioned from Bournemouth purchased the stream and watched it with his son. Safe to say he won’t be a repeat viewer of speedway.

This is the bigger picture. It’s selective boredom by Poole speedway. It’s short-term gain despite the inevitable prospect of long-term loss. I don’t know if they tuned in, but I recommended two Bournemouth based colleagues tune in to this tonight and if they did, they won’t be returning supporters. Why would they? This is boring. Middleditch just called it a ”great speedway meeting”. Stop talking out of your ass, Neil. Who are you trying to persuade? Us or yourself? We are about to enter heat 15, having witness one pass. I won’t stop mentioning that fact because it’s so bad.
