  1. 53-37, Tigers win. I’m in London for work, so had hoped to catch the meeting on a live stream, but don’t think the club has one.
  2. I can’t disagree with that. A patched up Oxford side gave a strong Edinburgh side a scare, especially with those back-to-back 5-1s. Really surprised by how poor Harrison and Scott were.
  3. Killeen was outstanding, but he definitely buys his race suits from build-a-bear.
  4. Well done to the Monarchs. Big win. Credit where it’s due to Kyle Thomson who rightly came in for some criticism at the beginning of the season; his last heat pass has just secure Edinburgh the win.
  5. What a ride from Killeen. Nowhere near good enough from Castagna or Sedgmen. You’re fuming if you’re the Edinburgh manager here. Your second and third heat leaders, plus captain in the last two heats; both of which end in 1-5s. Fair play to Oxford.
  6. A professional performance here from the Monarchs, although that 5-1 keeps Oxford’s hopes alive. I’m surprised by Luke Harrison. I’ve been impressed each time I’ve seen him, but he’s well off it tonight. Probably an example of where guests just don’t have the same impact as the riders they replace. Replaced here.
  7. ā€Victor Pavlovaā€ is superb from Dan Gilkes.šŸ˜‚ I quite like him on commentary. Insightful.
  8. Spot on. It’s painful how British speedway is frequently compromised. Once again, Oxford fans are witnessing their side not at full strength. They - and the rest of British speedways followers - deserve better. Who knows what the solution is? In most other industries, including other sports, they’d draft in a consulting body to evaluate challenges and implement improvements, like a KPMG, Deloitte, Accenture, etc. However, I doubt the SCB have that sort of capital. Speedway taking place at Oxford and it being live on BSN are two huge positives, but long/short term, the sport is facing longevity issues.
  9. I didn’t say all of them, I said ā€most sidesā€.
  10. Agreed. Not so much as a discredit to Berwick, but they’ve (Poole) done it again, haven’t they? They’ve built another formidable side. I wasn’t worried by their team building in the winter, but I was so off the mark. Add Cairns to that side and they’ll wipe the floor with most sides.
  11. Looking forward to this. The availability issue Oxford face definitely weakens them, but I understand a few of those Edinburgh riders have never raced the Cowley circuit, so who knows? I said it after we beat them at Ashfield; that Edinburgh has the potential to do damage. Palovaara was a genius signing and him moving into the main body of the side now affords a more ā€œestablishedā€ rider a less pressured role in the team. An Edinburgh win for me tonight, based on Oxford’s reliance on guests and the Monarchs’ strength in depth. Love that speedway is back at Oxford. I know it’s been a few years now, but the sport needs positive stories like that of the Cheetahs.
  12. What an interaction.šŸ˜‚ Do you mind if I go back to constructively discussing the topic with adults? I’d prefer not to engage in your low IQ nonsense.
  13. Let’s revisit what I said: Let’s see what I was referring to: You can’t even get being a smartarse right.šŸ˜‚ Thick as sh*t.šŸ˜‚
  14. A special mention has to go Ashton Boughen who was a victim of his own success. To find yourself in the main body of a Championship side at 17 years-old, having only taken up the sport three years ago, is remarkable progress. Seeing him almost lap (exaggeration, of course) Chris Harris at Ashfield last season - less than three weeks after his 17th birthday - was the biggest ā€œgiant killingā€ I’ve ever seen. Bigger than Powell versus Hamill and Hancock at Shawfield in ā€˜95. I think @IainB was spot on when he said Boughen is trying to run before he can walk. Fortunately, he has time on his hands and lots of it to fulfil what is evidently a huge amount of potential. All the best Ashton.
  15. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Let’s ignore the several comments that I’ve already ridiculed - ā€Leon was guttedā€ and ā€things weren’t helped by the amount of shale caking him and his bikeā€ - and let’s point out another. You said he changed his bike and felt comfortable, including in his fourth ride. What happened in his fourth ride? He was on the arse end of a shock 5-1 against Edwards and Starke.šŸ˜‚ Honestly wee man. Stop talking. You’re making a fool out of yourself.šŸ˜‚
  16. @SharpenRake do you want to have a word with the track staff before the Plymouth meeting, or will I? This can’t continue for poor Leon, getting ā€caked in shaleā€ when everyone else isn’t. It can’t go on. 🤣
  17. So that buffoon attempted to use Flint’s home average across just two meetings as basis to support his point?šŸ˜‚ Brilliant. A grown adult tells us he’s watched the meeting back and given us some of the most child-like observations I’ve ever heard, including ā€Leon Flint and his bike were caked in shaleā€, ā€Leon Flint was guttedā€ and ā€remember there were heavy showers that weekā€. He then attempts to use an average across two - yes, two - home meetings to support his point. All regarding a rider who regularly let the club down last season and has largely continued that trend this season. What a place this forum is. Tribal loyalty supersedes sense.
  18. Couldn’t agree more. Well said, unlike the post you quoted which was filled with complete nonsense, if we’re being honest. Your last point about the track being the same for everyone is universally correct.
  19. He’ll be up at 11.50 by the time we’ve had Plymouth and Scunthorpe at Ashfield. Assuming he doesn’t get dirty. Assuming he isn’t gutted. Assuming the track staff do their job. My personal favourite though, was this: ā€œthings weren’t helped by the amount of shale caking him and his bikeā€.šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
  20. Hi Steve. Has something confused you? You appear to be suggesting the comment ā€bonus points are used informally in reportingā€ - which they are, FYI, as they have no impact on the match result - somehow contradicts the my statement that bonus points aren’t meaningless. Being used informally does not correlate to being meaningless. Keep up. Okay, let’s exclude the Scottish Cup meetings, rendering his three home scorers as 8+1, 14+1 and 5+1. That generates an average of around 9.00, not 10.67. It is utterly bizarre that someone can suggest otherwise - also known as being wrong - while pedalling excuses about the rider being dirty, covered in mud, gutted or upset and the response? Defend him at all costs.
