2025 Torun SON and SON 2
Col replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Is Przyjemski likely to be fit? He's missed the last few weeks including the final of SGP2. I'm not sure I can be bothered with the SoN2, are any of the other nations (thinking potentially Denmark) likely to give the Poles anything to worry about? -

Like others have mentioned I don't think you will need much cash in Poland, maybe at the stadium if you want some fodder or drinks. There are things to do in Torun but it's not a big city like Wroclaw. Gingerbread Museum & Copernicus Planetarium (make sure you have an expresso before you go in) are worth a visit if you have not been before. You can climb to the top of the Old Town Hall for a panoramic view of the city & surrounding area. I was hoping KH Energa Toruń (Ice Hockey) maybe staging a fixture while I'm there, but sadly not this time. The local gingerbread & honey beers is good and available fairly cheaply in most shops but if you are after some proper beer then Deer Bear is the place to head to. There is also Torun Sour Soup which is pretty delicious, loads of restaurants around the square, had everything from an American diner filth fodder to an Indian & Thai previously but my favourite place to eat is the restaurant by the Brass Donkey (less cute than initially imagined.... it was medieval torture device). And there are a fair few pierogi places, not my thing but worth trying if you've never had them before. As well as the Copernicus statue & the brass donkey, there are brass cartoon dog, gingerbread woman (with dog) and brass woman with Goose to spot around the city and the dancing fountain is worth viewing after dark if it's on. Toruń Plaza is a sizeable shopping centre near the stadium also. -
Neither of them will be involved unless there is a spate of injuries to Bewley, Lambert, Kurtz, J Holder & Fricke which seems unlikely since fixtures are now few & far between.

Bydgoszcz in the play off... do we know which fixture (28/09 or 05/10) will be at Bydgoszcz, as the fixtures will sandwich the SoN which I'm going to and Bydgoszcz is not exactly far from Torun I may as well get a ticket (along with Grudziądz v Wrocław on 27/08). I might even do the Gorzów (or Rybnik) return fixture.

I didn't watch it, so can't comment on Zmarzlik's actual performance, he could well have gated which he's far from bad at and stuck in his position without trying to overtake any of the riders in front of him. 8 paid 9 from 4 riders is a bad night for a rider who averages 10.87 in that league. No rider will get on the podium over the course of a GP series if they can't gate, not everyone can be Artem Laguta or Erik Gundersen away from the tapes but every rider in the GP series ever must be capable of making a reasonable consistent starts or they wouldn't be capable of maintaining a spot in the series. Mountain dropped for Zischke last year is evidence that is not always the case.

What's wrong with Etheridge?

Except for Fricke & J Holder in the GP it doesn't seem like any of the riders involved in this semi final have any meetings on the continent this weekend, although there is a meeting in Krakow Saturday which I can't find a full line up for, I think it's a pairs event. Rasmus Jensen & David Rempała, Oliver Berntzon & Vadim Tarasenko and Jakub Jamróg & Szymon Bandur are the only confirmed riders but it's not inconceivable that Pickering, Douglas or Becker could be involved.

Zmarzlik only won one heat in the Elitserien semi final second leg at Lejonen (home track) on Tuesday night.

Well... I don't know if anyone has travelled south of Wolverhampton on a train but there are acres of no longer used delict ex-industry sites (they're a stones throw from Monmore). But it probably doubles the cost of developing the land for other use if demolishing & disposing of waste in such areas than developing on green space.

I'm afraid you are not going to get a new speedway stadium in the West Midlands conurbation area, there is simply not space for it unless an old disused factory site is used. Cradley are looking at somewhere in green space in Worcestershire, Wolves I'd imagine would have to do the same in South Staffs, by the i54 seems the most likely. Coventry have a chance as Brandon Stadium comes under Rugby Council who are supporting them.

Was that when he called Monmore his premiership home?

Belle Vue -V- Ipswich POSF leg 1
Col replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He's in his fourth year with Belle Vue isn't he? While I'm sure he did drop to in 2022, probably in 2023 (Lidsey had a few matches at reserve early that year) I'm sure he didn't in 2024 - Mountain, Zischke & Vuolas were the none RS Aces reserves none of those would have attained a higher average. After 4 seasons though his progress has certainly stalled. -

And if Kings Lynn had a 9 pointer instead of one of their 6 points they'd have to replace another 6 pointer with a 3 pointer. Completely different team. Replace two of their riders with Zischke & Bewley and tell me if you think that team is likely to finish above any of the 4 teams who did make the playoffs. -

Well... Jason Doyle on the exit from turn 2 with a motorbike wasn't a Cluedo tonight... I'll take that. Kings Lynn were never making the playoffs with that septet! No #1 ..two past it but entertaining (can't gate) former GP riders & the enigma that is R,3,2,0,R Kilndt. -

Well done Witches, I suspect the tie will be over by heat 8 of the second leg. If it's Witches face the Tigers in the final, you'll have my support. Not sure who I'll support if it's the Lions considering Leicester are now my local track. -

And that's it I feel even if Bewley & Kurtz come up with 10-2 return from 13 & 15. One points scoring ride from each of Blodorn, Zischke & Mulford was predictable, Lidsey scoring only 5 has been the killer for the Aces. -

At least they are only using the drone camera on replays.
