  1. Thanks for that Alan. Whilst I use Facebook, I don't spend a lot of time on Social Media, as it's far to time consuming, and can take over your life, if you let it. Lets hope the situation resolves itself to everyone's good, sooner rather than later. Thanks once again for your reply. Mike
  2. Who is actually responsible for the Rye House car park, which is now becoming a major hazard to both those driving in it, and those walking? Do the pub own it, or the stadium? Surely in the best interests of both parties, it would be worth them sharing the expense in filling in all those ever deepening holes, before some seriously hurts themselves. Driving at approximately 10MPH on Sunday, I was close to losing control at one stage, as a vehicle came towards me.
  3. I agree with most things said on here, even 'Old Parsloes' making his mistake with the score for Daniel Gilkes (Do hope the poor lad is okay, it happened right in front of me, and looked horrific...ANY UPDATES ANYONE ON HIS CONDITION PLEASE?) I'm really pleased that I made the journey from the seaside in Norfolk, and was impressed with the amount of Mildenhall fans that had made the journey. It's not the best British Youth Meeting that I've ever seen, but still more than worthy of the £5 admission money. In fact, if the ladies sitting at the table by the entrance, had waited another 5-minutes or so, they could of collected off another eleven people that filtered in within a few minutes of their taking their leave. The club lost £55 on that one, plus possible programme money. Although I could be wrong, I have little doubt in my own mind, that they waited and took their chance!! What did disappoint me however, was the overall attendance level, especially at a fiver a throw. Even though they are only youngsters, they still deserve and need the public support, because as more and more riders opt out of racing in the UK, they are the future of British Speedway. If you support them then, why not now, whilst they are learning their trade, not only for their own satisfaction, but for our entertainment too. Forgetting what Derek said about Kyle Bickley (I personally didn't notice it), the lad is a huge star in the making, along with Tom Brennan, and their are quite a few others making steady progress, and with our support, and the deep pockets of their families, they will get there. The next round is at Leicester, which I'm eagerly looking forward to, and last time they staged it, it did draw a big crowd, so lets hope this time will be the same.
  4. I know it's early doors folks, but seeing you had an abandonment due to rain last night, what do you think the chances are of the British Youth meeting happening this afternoon? I've got to think about leaving soon after 9.00am if the meeting is on. Thanks
  5. I'd estimate needing an extra 30-45 minutes for your journey, especially as EVERYONE will be using the same route, and the A17 is a pig of a road at the quietest of times> Hope you all arrive safely and on time.
  6. It's been raining heavily where I live, some 13-miles from the track. It stopped about 20-minutes ago, and the pavements are drying already, but concrete isn't shale of course. Think it's going to be another fingers crossed evening, but whatever happens, it will finish before 11.35pm, otherwise I'll be home tucked up in bed, like I was on Saturday!!
  7. I hope 6.00pm isn't going to become a regular thing, because I'll never visit at that time.

  9. Okay, obviously there's no seating within the stadium. Thanks for the info, and also very much looking forward to seeing the Falcons on track in the 2nd half.
  10. I wonder why speedway is losing all credibility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I'm making my first visit to Somerset on Friday, is there any seating, or do I need to bring a fold up chair with me?
  12. Forget King's Lynn 62 Buxton 27 last night, because there were no losers in this meeting, raced in the most atrocious conditions. Oliver Greenwood, Lee Geary, Shelby Rutherford, Ryan Blacklock, Jade Mudgway, Lewis Whitmore, Ryan Burton, Josh Bailey, Ryan Kinsley, Shane Hazelden, Tom Stokes, Nathan Greaves, Layne Cupitt and Scott Campos, you should all be extremely proud of yourselves. A great many riders/teams would have refused to have ridden, but every last one of you, faced what was put in front of you, and coped admirably. A pat on the back for team managers Jason Pipe and Dale Allitt too, who played their part, along with referee Mick Bates, for keeping things moving. You ALL did yourselves and the sport of speedway at National League level proud. THANK YOU.
  13. It's been raining most of the day in my area too Maureen, but I don't think they've had much in King's Lynn. Wrap up thought, cos it's bloody cold!!
  14. On paper, this indeed does look a very good meeting. The long friendship between Dale Allitt and Jason Pipe, both fine team-managers, should add an extra bit of spice to proceedings. One would assume that the crowd level will be low due to the Elite League side being in action the following night, which would be a shame if it is, because both sides contain some exciting talent in their ranks.
  15. Makes sense, thanks for that, cos I don't play with Twitter.
  16. What's it like in KL now please folks, as it's coming down by the bucket load on my roof?
  17. I see that the Poole v Leicester is already off tonight because of the inclement weather forecast. As you say, the forecast is exactly the same for the King's Lynn area too, and in fact we've had some rain 13-miles away this morning, and the sky is so black, I've had to put a light on. We're only a month away from the longest day, before things start going down hill again as we head towards late summer/early autumn, were on earth have our summers gone?? So it's fingers crossed that somehow tonight can go ahead, but it doesn't sound promising.
  18. Yes I know Maureen. I've just about warmed up now, and now getting ready to be chilled to the bones at Mildenhall tomorrow.
  19. Having just got home from Coventry after staying the night, I must congratulate the Young Stars on their brilliant performance at Brandon Stadium. They were quick to pick their heads up after the sound thrashing they took on Wednesday evening, and showed what a talented and professional bunch of riders they are, and a real credit to the promotion of King's Lynn Speedway Club. Make no mistake, Coventry 'Storm' are an extremely talented outfit, and well managed by Laurence Rogers, and I doubt many teams will leave there with three or four points in the bag. After a shaky start, and finding themselves 13-5 down after three races, skipper Scott Campos, who himself had a very poor first ride, rallied his charges, guided of course by team-manger Dale Allitt, and from that point on, there was no looking back. Whilst both Tom Stokes and Josh Bailey weren't the dominant force that they are known to be, it was more than made up for by the other members of the side. Certainly Nathan Greaves had his best meeting of the campaign in our colours, and the extreme talent of reserve Ryan Kinsley once again shone through. There were some very enjoyable to watch performances from the home side too, particularly those of Dan Greenwood, Ryan Terry-Daley, Martin Knuckey and Liam Carr, who sadly crashed out of the meeting in Heat 11, suffering a suspected broken scaphoid. It's debatable whether his inability to take his final ride of the meeting, made any difference to final result, but I somehow doubt it. But best wishes to the Berwick based youngster for a speedy recovery. The second-half saw a close run Midland Development League Match between the two clubs, with Coventry 'Vikings' taking a 5-1 in the final heat to a 19-17 victory. Eryk Borczuch notched a flawless maximum for the homesters, and is one to watch for the future. So all in all, a most enjoyable night of speedway, on what was a bitterly cold night. Apart from the injury to Liam Carr, the only downside was the lack of King's Lynn supporters in attendance. I walked the stadium twice (trying to keep warm), and unless I missed them, my wife and I were the only two there, which is a terrible shame for the riders. The previous Friday night meeting they lost at home was against Buxton, by a single point. So at the moment, I guess the bragging rights belong in East Anglia. Roy 'Laurence' Rogers 44 Jason 'Smokin' Pipe 45 Roy 'Laurence' Rogers 42 Dale 'I'll Avvit' Allitt 48 On the plus side Mr Rogers, I must say you looked resplendent in your Black & Orange cap, you little trend setter you!!!
  20. My first visit of the season to Peterborough.....superb entertainment.
  21. I'm setting off in about 10-minutes, how is the weather at the moment please?
  22. QUESTION: I saw the King's Lynn riders in their kevlars, but didn't personally see any Poole riders changed, did anybody else see them changed ready, in case the meeting went ahead? Having arrived at the stadium at 5.00pm, I could see the hard work that Buster had put in before the rain arrived. I also saw the hard work that he put in again once the rain had stopped, and it must have been so soul destroying for him, when those responsible, decided it wasn't safe to race on. I, and I'm sure that many of us have seen meetings go ahead quite safely in far worse conditions than those that were presented to the riders last night. Having said that, I appreciate also that rider safety must ALWAYS come first, but do ask myself that if that had been a GP meeting last light, would it have been called off? Star Lady mentions in her posting that she's told that Buster issues cash refunds on the day, and I can confirm that was the case last night. I wonder if all clubs have such an understanding policy? Anyway, I suppose if there can be a consolation from the postponement, it prevents casual observers watching on TV, saying what a load of crap that sport is, because I think it possibly would have been very much follow the leader stuff, and we know it isn't really like that.
