I've only just returned home after spending the weekend in Rutland. On Saturday I took myself along to watch this meeting, and have to say that I thought it was an extremely good meeting, with lots of passing. If this meeting was anything to go by, then I'm amazed when I read David Hemsley's column in the programme, where he says that crowds have stabilised this season at an ALARMINGLY LOW LEVEL. If the racing is like what we saw on Saturday, every meeting, then it's hard to understand why attendances are dropping off, and what these stay-away people expect from a race meeting. How you get them back, I really don't know, because every time I go to Leicester, the racing is no worse than any other venue, so it's a mystery. I've said before (last season), you've got a super venue there, that provides excellent viewing, no matter where you are positioned. I'm yet to see a race meeting that is any worse than other venue I visit, and I included my own club in that, and I just hope that somehow, those stay away folk can be persuaded to return. You went for years without a club following the closure of Blackbird Road, so PLEASE don't let that situation arise again. Your product is good, it just needs you stay away people to realise and accept that. I know I'm eagerly awaiting my next couple of visits later in the summer.

This fixture has now been put back to a later date, to make way for the Elite League match against Poole to be brought forward for that night.

I think John would be an excellent choice for the position, with all the years of experience that he has.

Although I'm not a supporter of Mildenhall, I am a fairly regular visitor, and would agree that the track yesterday was in a dreadful state, and yes, I wish I hadn't attended (hindisight and all that). Sadly, I heard people say, and some actually said it to me personally, that they will never step foot inside the stadium again. If they stick to their word, then that will be huge shame for both themselves and the club, because the bad meetings or track conditions are few and far between, and tell me a club that hasn't suffered such problems at time in the past. By my estimation, 80%-90% of the meetings at this homely little venue provide the highest level of entertainment and enjoyment, and I would ask those of you who made those comments of "Never Again", to rethink those sentiments. As I opened my posting up by saying that I wish that I hadn't attended yesterday, I'm equally saying that I'm already looking forward to next Sunday's meeting against the Isle of Wight, because hopefully, and I'm sure that the problems of yesterday will have been addressed, and we'll all enjoy an afternoon of high class action. In closing, I hope that all those who got hurt yesterday, make swift recoveries.

Double header next Wednesday it is. Lets hope the weather warms up by then, as it could well be a long night.

It's obviously going to be a tough year for you all at Leicester this season, with little prospect of things improving with the current rider shortage. I just hope upon hope, that attendances don't drop away to much, which could cause the ultimate closure of the club. You all waited a long time to get speedway back in your city, and it would be unbearable to see you lose it again. We're not the strongest at King's Lynn this year ourselves, but obviously not quite as weak as yourselves. We have punters that are not happy, but at least most seem to be sticking with the club, and I sincerely hope they do with you. I wish you good luck, and hope that if any riders become available, that would improve your situation, then providing we don't need them here in West Norfolk, that they finish up in the colours of Red & Yellow. Keep supporting your club, they need you.

Kings Lynn Stars V Belle Vue Aces 31/3
Mimmo replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Due to a recent prolonged illness, last night was my first visit to a speedway meeting this season. As a King's Lynn fan, like you all, I want to see my team win, and if I'm honest with myself, I don't think that is going to happen to often this year. To me though, the most important thing is that as long as we generally see a good race meeting, and there were some good races last night, even though they didn't always go in our favour, then that's more important than watching us romp home with 5-1's all the time. In any level of employment, everybody has their own minimum/maximum ability, and you're usually kept on in that employment in a position that suits that ability, assuming you're completely incapable. Likewise, when a rider is signed to represent a club, the management make their choices according to the positions available, in the full knowledge of what that rider is capable of producing, and if that person really is incapable, then you try to replace them. As the club have openly stated, its been a difficult winter trying to put a team together, and although I personally don't think Troy Batchelor is a good signing, I don't really see what other alternatives were really out there, that wanted to ride in the UK. Clubs in all sports have their good years and bad years, just look at Chelsea FC this season, but with the continued support of their fans, rather than the threatened "I'm not going to wastemy money on that", they are climbing out of the doldrums. So come on folks, lets accept the bad times with the good, and stand united. There are so many things more important in life than the result of a sporting event, so chill out, take it for what it is, and I'm sure you'll feel much happier within yourselves. My only real grievance about last night, was once again how long it took to get races on. I agree with Kelvinht, as soon as one race finishes, the 2-minute buzzer should almost instantly goon for the next race, in the same way it does for British Youth Meetings, plus those involving Southern Track Riders and Dragons Club Meetings. I got so cold last night, just standing around, that I did leave the meeting after Heat 13. I'm sure I'm going to get bombarded with "What an idiot you are" type responses now, but hey, we're all entitled to our own opinions, and I've just stated mine. UP THE STARS. -

Cheers Shads, my mind is made up.......I'm stopping at home. Hope for the sake of you local folks however, that you do get to see your speedway, even though I'll feel gutted for not travelling after all. Best Wishes -

Any news this morning please? Don't want a 5-hour journey and no racing. Looking a the terrible weather on the news around the Dartford Bridge, It doesn't look inviting. -
No Trees, the Somerset meeting is still on the 18th March, so it's a bit strange this one.
-
Thanks Bryn. I'd stopped looking at the website recently, as it isn't always up to date.
-
I wish clubs would get used to the fact that some people still rely on the BSF for news, and don't use Twitter. I've just been told that the King's Lynn v Stoke meeting will now take place on Tuesday 5th April instead of Wednesday 6th April. A nice fixture to open up the 2016 season with, and hopefully a good crowd to support it.

He's no better than Barker or Bjerre, so hope not.
-
I don't have SKY Star Lady. Following a quick phone call to our friends, I can now do the 22nd also.
-
Unfortunately, like a lot of people, I don't use Twitter, so we should be able to rely on our own clubs website. Sods law that only yesterday, I arranged to go out with friends on the 22nd June, happy in the knowledge that there was no speedway, now I'll have to see if I can let them down!! Bloody speedway. Cheers Speedball. I had no reason to look at another clubs website though, only my own clubs.

The KL website is still showing it as the 16th June.

John Wainwright is still a King's Lynn asset, and only a year older than Greg Hancock. He must surely be the answer to our unfilled No 1 berth!!

It might well have been Steve, and if it is, then fair do's. But as Simon hasn't made a statement to that effect yet, nobody really knows. What we do know is that from previous releases, he expressed his pleasure at linking with King's Lynn.
-
To be honest Gordon, I don't think anybody has persevered with Simon long enough to see if his career can kick on at the so called higher level. EL speedway has got itself in a terrible mess, and I just feel sorry that a youngish rider has lost a much needed pay packet, just because the very well paid stars, want to pick and choose what country they ride in. So much has happened, I'm losing track (down to old age), but wasn't the Draft System brought in to help promote British youngsters, and surely Lambert at twenty-six rather than Wilkinson at thirty-four, should have priority (I know there's a ridiculous points game to be played). I'm off to play my chosen sport shortly...........if I haven't been replaced by an 80-year old.....which is 8-years older than me.
-
I feel sorry for Simon, he's been pushed from pillar to post throughout his Elite League career. Hope he gets fixed up with another ride somewhere, as he's a real team player.

Very sharp answer that semion, good one.
