  1. But it stops average manipulation at the end of a league season(not including play offs)
  2. I agree as regards the 3 & 4's but need the Scorpions to turn up with no weak links. Has Palins move to no 2 done for the team or to give him an easier heat 8 or could it be with June averages in mind for a reserve berth for confidence. Either way, JP or ZK, could benefit team & riders going forward. Rob seems to be making the track a bit slicker whether it is a weather decision, rider decision or amount of shale available but the outside like is not as quick as it used to be towards the end of a meeting. Let us see what Harris can find. Scored 12 from 5 last year for Birmingham.
  3. This, as you say, could be biased either way(Home or Away) but it could slightly eliminate average manipulation for the following season if riders, in their respective teams, are already in the play offs. It might be a bit strange but most of the meetings in September & October will be Play Off or KO meetings which do not go towards your CMA's. My personal view on this is ALL types of meetings count but in 20 meetings, drop your lowest 4 scores as the PL only has 6 teams meaning 20 league meetings if the riders ride in all of them, similarly, in the CL 11 teams meaning, again, 20 league meetings if ridden in all.
  4. If you are going to make a post, look(troll) back & find some truths! In 2018, CHAPMAN was still the CHAIRMAN & GODFREY his VICE. http://scunthorpe-speedway.com/?p=8003 We did lose S Worrall early season but he DID come back late July, early August so NOT ALL season. Brexit was happening but we were ill prepared as our Prime Minister jumped ship & left a clown in charge. Hindsight is wonderful for the limit on top 3 heat leaders but it was a rule touted years ago but never implemented(plenty of riders back then. Is 6 man teams the way to go with unattatched riders as guests? Name an instance where the "cartel" has used influence? BUT, I do agree with an Independent Body(ex promoters, referees, riders). The SCB & BSP Ltd are separate committees.
  5. It is on the Scorpion website that Dougy has said he will be back for Friday. There is a little change in the riding order being RD, JP, ZK, JA, TA, RK,SL. For Oxford, Harris & Stoneman come in for Batchelor & MacDonald.
  6. I have just noticed that Newcastle have postponed meetings at home until the end of the month while track work goes on meaning our date of the 22nd is, now, not on(our programme(s) all 3 of them, have the date down as the 15th!).
  7. I would, personally, go with Tofty if a guest is required as at least you are not giving other riders track time as Plymouth have just ridden here.
  8. I would think the weather has played its part these last few days as Leicester had issues, also, last night. Strange that most riders had a 1st or 2nd & the "superstar" C Cook only 1 point from 2 rides tells a different story!
  9. A new rule brought in last year re Anlas tyres, apparently. Allowed ONE practice start(normally at pit entrance/exit) but NOT allowed any other tyre warming(spinning wheel on track) Rules & Regs. 04.2.20 Tyre Warming
  10. .......... and most of the time it is the top/better riders that are doing this.
  11. There has been quite a few instances on the updates site of riders giving up when at the back. (cruising round & not racing) What, in your opinion, would a race score be if a rider gives up(cruising not racing) & the rider in 3rd has a problem( engine, chain or fall) & does not cross the line. The rider in 4th continues round & crosses the line. Does he get that point? Note; do NOT check Rules & Regs for an answer! Opinions please.
  12. So now you are saying that the young reserves should not improve to displace older 2nd strings but be happy to keep hold of a reserve berth. That is why these youngsters want to step up and succeed. You have to start at the bottom some time & hopefully progress up the ladder. As I said before ....clueless. NB; "know" not "no"
  13. Onto the result of the meeting of which I did not see but followed via the updates site. Getting Howarth in for Auty did tip the meeting in Birmingham's favour, of which, the earlier posters commented on & for us to be only 8 points adrift after running 11 lasts shows us up to be weak in areas away from home. We knew if Kennedy scored point in a reserve position then either Lambert or Palin could move down. The no2 position is the hardest position in the main body but Lambert proved scoring 4-6 points it is generally enough for the team but riding with a recognised no1 in Douglas, a top 10 performer this year, his scoring was limited. A no2, in 3 rides, rides with his heat leader but, also, against the oppositions heat leaders 3 times, 2nd stings twice & a reserve so heat 8 is his easiest ride. Similarly, a no 6 has to ride with a heat leader twice & 2nd stings once( unless you put your 3rd heat leader at no4) & fellow reserves so heat 2 is his easiest ride. I heard someone say that last week Palin was carrying an injury from a training camp but wanted to ride on Friday. He scored well for Torun U24's on Tuesday so in Britain, is he still getting his head around the more technical tracks & is it affecting his confidence. If anyone says changes are needed, please put down your thoughts on realistic alternatives. H McGurk mentioned, & he has raced twice this season, both against Plymouth(NDL) & going by his results, is just behind Gilkes & Atkins.
  14. Absolutely clueless post & you have been around long enough to know the rules. Averages change on the 1st day of every month & your team position is dependant on it. The lowest TWO averaged riders HAVE to ride at 6 or 7 so NO ONE WAS SHAFTED.
  15. If you were there or had seen the stream, you would have noticed your "star reserve" win his first 3 rides.
  16. ............ and has been explained why by the streaming operator.
  17. It is the Scorpions v Gladiators at the EWR tonight. Redcar(Bear(s)) v Oxford at the ECCO Arena.
  18. ?????????? You have still got the youtube clip in your head.
  19. You might want to edit again. It is always from the 1st of a new month.
  20. The 1 pointed that Plymouth "gifted" Scunthorpe then, could prove to be crucial at the end of the season for the play off positions. I wouldn't have thought that an away promoter/manager would be allowed to take control of grading & watering unless asked whether he be the "Chairman" or not.
  21. Douglas increases his average, as we thought, Aarnio & Kennedy but it means Lambert down to reserve from 1st May.
  22. Remind us all. When was it that the "Turbo Twins" (Holder & Ward) last raced at Poole as they constantly complained about the track but got on with it unlike MANY OTHER riders.?
