Poole Pirates 2021
IronScorpion replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It also contains a lot of bitchiness & hatred towards Poole from certain posters with huge ego's & chips on shoulders rather than speedway talk. Also, why have they still a thread in the Premiership section, although there has been no more posts since it was mentioned before Christmas. -
Only around 2 more weeks to wait but I did hear that the promoters of the teams were making a provisional list in December then finalised in mid January, all done by the promoters & not a fixture planner. This year is not down to the BSPA or fixture planner(see above) & they will not be set in stone

Poole Pirates 2021
IronScorpion replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poole have always been one of the big names in British Speedway & that is why they signed so many riders on as assets(their registrations) then loaned them out. They did nothing to develop these riders & I would think, 30% of Poole's assets have never ridden for them. -
Championship Team of the Decade
IronScorpion replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I guessing that you did your homework & knew that Sheffield would not be beaten, that is why you started this thread. Well done -
Who do you think you are? Doctor Who? It is still 2019! .................. later

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020
IronScorpion replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Looking at the predictions thread, a lot of posters have us finishing in the bottom 3 as we do not have a strong no1 but we have 4 heat leaders from last years teams & our bottom 3 could easily score 14-18 at home & 12-16 away. We have strength in depth that could put us in the top 6. -
THJ was not the one to "let the cat out of the bag". Yes, he gave us a story with anagrams incorporated of the riders, but it was another poster that solved the puzzle.
-
he has spent his time away ............... now he is back. another to put on ignore
-
Slight disagreement to your post but Diamonds should have been acknowledged as League Winners but the Scorpions are Play Off Champions These are the Titles that we should be racing for.
-
Obviously a bit of jealousy in yours & HGould's predictions with Tero being in our team but with 4 heat leaders from last year, 1 with a home track bias & the other 3 having carried injuries in 2019, I think we will do well. Plus, probably having another rider that was on most teams wish list, another that improved no end when he got his confidence back & the NL's rider of the year, gives me, & I would think most of our fans, big smiles & optimism for 2020. But we do suffer our fair share of injuries so I hope they are kept to a minimum.
-
".......since they won the little knockout trophy at the end of 2012 when the Diamonds were LEAGUE winners " The "Knockout Cup" is the ONLY trophy I know of that we race for . Since the play offs were introduced, everyone knew what they were racing for, The Winners Trophy & that is what all records will show. However, I do agree that the League winners should receive something for their achievement & the playoff winners receive their trophy & medals.

With the Thompson boys not turning 16 until 22nd April, meaning a late start to the season, by the time they have completed 4H 4A to get a true average, it could be mid June.
-
It could be because they have signed riders that rode on a track that didn't suit them or that they were carrying injuries. You sign riders hoping that they will improve. We have signed 2 in Jorgensen & Aarnio with the view that they will improve. Similar to what we did in 2019 signing Lambert who struggled at Newcastle, riding on the open spaces at the EWR & getting his confidence back.

There has been 2 dates for meetings that start the season in 2020 & they are 22nd March(Josh Auty Testimonial) &29th March 90th(91st?) Anniversary at Newcastle. I would think there will be more so be wary of clashing dates. Josh did name a few at an after meeting talk but will wait for confirmations to name.

Posted 24 October I wrote a system down earlier in the year & it was based on Grades of A(3) B(2) & C(1). Teams are made up of a 6 man team but a 7 man squad. The team has a maximum limit of 12. This gives teams 3 x A + 3 x C, 2 x A + 2 x B + 2 x C, 1 x A + 4 x B + 1 x C, 6 x B The team also has a maximum average of 36 so no team is getting the top average rider in the grades. With this system, though, riders get 5 rides on average so the riders average would have to be per ride making an average between 0 & 3. The team average for this system would be 10. The 7th(squad) rider can be any graded rider but is used for injuries & unavailability ( riding in other countries) only. When used the maximum of grade & team average must be applied. Any riders not picked in the initial declarations go in to a "Guest Pot". These riders, also, have grades & averages. A "guest" cannot turn out for any team, in any competition, more than 4 times. This gives more teams a rider identity & removes the use of guests from other teams. Edited October 25 by IronScorpion

If it is similar to this year, the converted average is for team building only. His rolling average from 2018 plus his accrued scores during April 2020 up to & including the 23rd will give him a new average from the 1st May.
-
BWD 2018 final average was 6.00 so your promotion will expect a big drop when the new averages come out for May. No-one will put 2 points ON an average in 1 month so there will be scope for or if any changes are required during the first 2 months.

I had noted that he borrowed a motor off Masters & his scores improved. This is why he has said he will invest in new(ish) equipment & why he was given a spot.
-
A bit of a slanderous comment. Care to enlighten us all?
-
Probably will not remember what he has said or done. to much.
-
Can posters please shut up about Auty. He did well years ago at Birmingham, Sheffield & Redcar. He has, also, been used at Belle Vue & Leicester. He has said it himself, HE IS NOT INTERESTED IN THE TOP LEAGUE!

Birmingham Brummies 2020
IronScorpion replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not enough fixtures & too many free weeks in 2019 & now a few threads saying there might not be many free weeks. The Northern section have FOUR teams that rode on Fridays in 2019, Scunthorpe, Redcar, Edinburgh & Glasgow so will need to use alternative nights. -
Exactly. The guy has history, but that is it. IT IS HISTORY! We did not have a problem with Ben, rarely crashed, great with the supporters & had many guest opportunities.
-
His rolling average(20 meetings) CMA is 5.20 - 2.5% = 5.07 In meetings he had in 2019(9, 5 at home & 4 away) he averaged 3.76 & 4.50 respectively.
-
Nice to know some teams use alternative nights to get meetings on & out of the way.
