are Plymouth going to compete in the NL in 2014 or not ? ssupporters would like an answer, as already people have lost money due to posphonments.

Well done to the Storm, any win at mildenhall is hard to come by, yes you missed JJ, but on the other hand RR probably scored more than Brendan would have done, its still early days yet, lots to happen before the business end comes along.

King's Lynn V Belle Vue (mdl) - 16 April 2014
greyhoundp replied to Mimmo's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Hmmm, Nice to see Michael Neal back riding again, just a pity he is still unable to do a full NL season, he is far to good now for the Development leagues, much better than Young Scott Campos who is in the Young Stars Team, Im thinking there should be some good battles between him and Josh Bailey, for me i take Bv to edge this one. -
Scunthorpe V Cradley (national League) 13th April 2014
greyhoundp replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
I just ask one question, my final one on the subject. Why doesnt Mr Godfrey run the NL meetings as single meetings, rather than as double headers ?. I believe the answer is because not many will come to watch them at the present time. Yet other people on here expect supporters of other NL Teams to pay hard earned cash, to watch the self same team that the majority of Scunthorpe supporters dont want to watch. I say this with no disrespect to any riders or supporters on here, its for the NL to sort out, by bridging the gap that seems to have emerged this year between certain teams, it can be done, and has to be done for the future of the NL. -

Iv read somewhere only today, Sam has been riding for Milton Keynes, so Im only guessing, he could be another Teams assett. -
It doesnt really surprise me.

Its pointless having a minimum points limit, if you dont have the riders, simply just reduce the points limit to 35. It would also not be a bad idea to have a draft system for 3 point riders. That would curb to some extent, the Cherry picking being done by certain clubs, same as the EL, Team finishing top of the League has last pick. -

The scoreline wasnt important, what was, was the debut of a young man Sam Chapman, he scored 12 points including beating Tom Perry, Max Clegg, and Matt Williamson for a very good debut. -
Urgent Postponement Stoke V Buxton 13/04/14
greyhoundp replied to Swift Saint's topic in National League Speedway
if its that bad going into turn 1, maybe the Track could be taken out onto the old greyhound Track on the home straight, then just let the stocks use the original speedway straight where the problem is. -

Cradley V Kings Lynn - Nl Sheild (08/04/14)
greyhoundp replied to Hunty's topic in National League Speedway
Nope, neither as a Cradley or Speedway fan in general, its okay as an occasional event, but week in week out its not for me, i have reguarly been calling for a drop in the points limit to 36, i think it has to be reduced and possibly by even more, to try to get a more even balance between NL Teams, and there could even be a possible case for introducing a draft for 3 point reserve positions, similar to the EL. -

I really dont know why, but if memory serves me right, when the Young Stars came to Monmore early last season, they put in a dissapointing performance then also, as has already been commented on, Mallett, Cockle, Hughes, and to a lesser extent Rose and even Campos, now not meaning to knock the lad, but how many years has Scott Campos been around now ? still only a number 7 and none from five tonight, I would have thought there are better prospects out there. Josh Bailey is certainly one for the future. This was born out by the presentation to each Cradley rider tonight before the parade of £200 Donated to them by The Daughter of a recently passed away Cradley fan who spent many happy times watching Teams get Ommered, Then last week before the Storm meeting, all the kids got a free flag, its gestures like this which make TheTeam/Club what it is. -
I take it, he doesnt feel ready to win the British Under 21 final . I really dont know who is advising Robert, doesnt want to do NL bcuz he is to good, well not at Monmore he aint. Doesnt want to do PL, i dont know why, but wants to do EL where i think he will struggle away from The Norfolk arena, especially on Tracks such as Lakeside, and Monmore. Compare Bridger & Tai one took the fast Track route ie direct into the EL, and barely made any progress whatsoever, the other took time to progress through the Leagues, and ended up as World Champ. Robert has plenty of time to take in the EL, personally i would have advised him to do NL & PL for 2014, then PL & EL in 2015 after all he will still be only what 17? in 2015 plenty of time on his side.

I notice Kevin Shepherd ex IOW Team manager was asking if anyone had a Team managing role available, so if its to much for Jack to do the Two Teams ie Birmingham and Buxton, I dont know if Kevin would consider Buxton, or if Buxton would consider Kevin, Buxton may be a little far for Kevin, but then again anywhere is far from the IOW.

Leicester V Kent Kings - National Trophy - 6/4/14

A little bit rich coming from a Cradley Fan, ok you have mentioned the obvious one Lee Geary, Adam Portwood is another who comes to mind, the point Im making is WHY sign RESERVE riders who already have Team places ?.. A little bit rich coming from a Cradley fan Hmmmm, Im a Cradley fan by birth and by choice, however thats NOT to say i agree with ALL that goes on there ( I dont), for instance i would like to see us either run in the NT or put a Team in the MDL, the promotion have never come forward and said why they do neither. I would ask that just because i support Cradley on track, doesnt mean i agree with decisions made OFF Track. -

Leicester V Kent Kings - National Trophy - 6/4/14
greyhoundp replied to blueherb777's topic in National League Speedway
The Leicester (select) Team, were selected mainly from Cradley & Coventry riders, both will be up in the Play Offs, and its down at reserve where the Leicester (select) tale is told, how is it, that a Team in its 3/4 th season cant even find 2 reserves of its OWN ? there are plenty of unattached riders around, but NO Leicester chose to pick 2 reserves from other teams, which tells me Leicester (select) want to try to win the NT. To be honest looking at the Teams and form of the riders, if Kent had won this i would have been amazed, they were not disgraced in defeat, but definately you need Brandon back asap, and your other reserve Daniel Blake is proving to me what i thought when he was announced, he simply isnt what you need. -
Yes, Starkie can gate thats his forte, whereas Tom P couldnt and cant. Paul is a good team man to have around, never going to be a world beater, but can definately throw a spanner in the works against some of the bigger names, he is showing a good improvement on his average so far, and i would imagine the management are well pleased with his showing so far, keep it up Starkie.

Im expecting to see either one of Michael Neale or Lee Geary in the starting line up for Buxton.
-
What have Kings got to be complacent about ?, I think anyone expecting Kings to take the points this afternoon, will have got a dose of reality, yes Play Off contenders Champions ? that depends very much on Brandon Freemantle getting fit, and staying fit, without him weak at reserve, After Simon and Ben, your other riders are a little inconsistent.

Im really interested to see how Kent go in this meeting, it will give us far more of an idea, how they are going to perform over the season, yes they will do well over the season, Champs that remains to be seen, injuries i feel will play a big part over this season, for all Teams. -
Coventry V Scunthorpe 4th April
greyhoundp replied to boston five's topic in National League Speedway
So far as i am aware, all have retired except Young, Isherwood, Priest who just seem to have drifted away, and Marc Owen now i do think he is still trying to find rides, now he could do a job for Scunny, Yes i do believe he would have a long way to travel, but home meetings are on a weekend i believe, and he would have to do away meetings whoever he rode for, Marc has done the Under 21 at Plymouth, and is in the Final at Cradley so i think this shows he still wants to stay in the Sport, and i think riding for Scunny without pressure would be beneficial to him and Scunny, and he is due a spell without injury. -

I think most of us thought Smoli was there to make up the numbers, me included, well he has proved us doubters all wrong . I dont mind saying he thouroughly deserved his win, and it will be a great boost for Speedway in Germany, and an added boost for the GP,s. Well done Martin Smolinski you have proven that dedication can win through in the end, and that nice guys can win. smoli, smoli, smoli. -
I havent read the article, only the comments on here, he definately thinks he is better than what he is at the present time, i base this on having seen him ride in the NL play Offs last season against Dudley home and away. His decision not to ride in the Under 21 final wouldnt by any chance have something to do with the fact that he didnt ride Monmore Wood at all well in those self same Play Offs would it ?. I commented at the time, he walked apart from his Team mates towards the start line for the pre meeting introductions, he wore some flashy modern shades (not a problem) except that it was almost dark then he attempted to fire up his bike whilst introductions were still being made, that gave me the impression he seemed to have a rather large head on those shoulders. Hopefully after a few seasons racing he may learn respect has to be earned, and antagonising people is definately not an easy way to earn respect. Good luck Robert wherever you end up in your career.
