I'm just glad to see the racing back, given the awful 18 months we've been through and am prepared to cut them some slack as they're under some strain at present with restrictions and rider availability. Glass half full for me, not half empty.
-
Chin up. I just go to see some close matches or decent racing or incidents (not crashes) and am not so concerned by the scores/who wins. Things don't always go the way you might want but that's life, we walk on.

Stars v Panthers. Thursday 01/07/21

Feel sorry for Lynn tonight, decent guest in Schlein who comes off and only gets 1 point. OK, they were up against a buoyant Panthers but it could have been tighter. -
Peterborough v Ipswich 21st June

I think you know the answer to that. A team manager of course has an influence on motivations & rider interactions plus tactically influence the results and make them as best as they can but ultimately they have to deal with the team they're given and how they perform that season in comparison to other teams. Dealing with injuries and other factors external to that team means that the success of that team cannot be the responsibility of the team manager in the same was as it can perhaps for other sports. Therefore, I'd use criteria other than league titles alone to evidence the competence of a team manager. I'd be interested in how Daniel backs up his claim but of course it's just his opinion -
Does it say why - other committments or wonga?

Peterborough v Ipswich 21st June

No reason other than the weather - I haven't looked at the weather for Peterborough but it's been raining in Suffolk and parts of Essex for most of the day. -

If it goes ahead, I fancy Ipswich to win. -
Same at Ascot next week. For 'test events' no masks are needed inside the venue but two pcr tests and a lateral flow are needed.

Nothing to do with bike in my view, just too timid entering the corners, shutting off rather than full gas. He's young so has time to improve.
-
Didn't you set him reeling in Allen by using the grip on the outside in the middle/exiting bends. Just great riding, not an Allen mistake. For me, a rider using their brain and skill trumps fill throttle merchants any day.
-
Of course not. Wearing a mask is daft if outside and socially distanced but I can understand that when standing on the terraces, social distancing is difficult to enforce. I think someone from the council must've been there against Lynn because the stewards were much more directive and there were several PA announcements too. I'd rather comply to help the club than moan about it. 2000 fans is a decent crowd.

Wolves v Sheffield 7th June 2021

I thought it an enjoyable watch with some dices for places and a couple of crashes. Definitely prefer that type of meeting over fastest bike wins. -
Ipswich V Belle Vue 20th May
SPEEDY69 replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is a team manager doing his job to help the team score as many points as possible. There are precious few other things they can do. Kemp never looked like scoring after his first ride against the Aces and whilst Rowe started off great, best to use that to your advantage if you can I'd say. Blimey, Tom B was lucky in one of his races - a spectacular rodeo ride but I think he will make great strides. -

Don't be so sensitive, perhaps I should have said not an attractive area for walking around but the comparison was with a beautiful city centre all within an easy walk. Most fans want the experience, diehard fans want the best racing. For example F1 is awful racing but we'll supported. -

No-one wants to walk around houses though. Cardiff has such a great feel on GP day, the city is easy to walk around, easy to get food and drink plus its easy to get to/from. Belle Vue can't come anywhere near that experience. This is where promoters go wrong, people want atmosphere and an experience. Plenty of great racing tracks have struggled to get fans in. -

Belle Vue is in a dump of an area, nowhere to walk to and stadium facilities are awful. I assume you were joking. -

Would be a great venue though. -
OK. I'd have thought pay in premiership would be higher than in championship. No wonder people want to double down then.
-
Money will be the difference surely.
-
So do I. Should be lower than that.

Sad to hear of his passing, condolences to Linda. I went to many of his schools in the 90s progressing from his bikes to when I bought my own and progressed to STR and league riding - he used my photo for his promo leaflets. Great character, loved fried chicken, a drink or two and the odd swear word! Such a talented racer across many disciplines.
-
Such a shame. Obviously it wouldn't have been kept since 2017, not something described as a stadium - a fence on pallets maybe. I can only hope they do return in 2022.

Jeremy Doncaster works at RAF Wattisham which started with electrics many years ago but has widened a lot since then. He's also a machine examiner at Ipswich. Backtrack magazine is a good source of articles such as this thread, well worth a subscription.

Not much margin for under inflation when many only use about 5 psi in the first place!
