  1. That may be but if you never ride on a wet track, you'll never ride on a wet track, kind of self fulfilling. We know the aussies hate it wet. I'd much prefer wet to bumpy. Lynn is so smooth. I remember Andy Smith bombing it around there years ago in either a commonwealth final or something which was very wet. "Oh no, I may have to wash my bike and race suit, best come back another day when it's dry, no skin off my nose." Maybe halve their money for rain offs when they want it off? Tail wagging dog.
  2. Nope. Refs these days are easily railroaded by riders, backed up by their team manager.
  3. Once the ref had called it off then there is no point. How do we know they didn't offer to try out.? No point getting sheffield to try it, they'd have ridden like numptys on purpose.
  4. Riders have too much say these days. Holder will be fine in Poland, Batch better pack up for Aus because tracks are closing fast in the UK and they are not helping one bit.
  5. The riders should hang their heads. Had to be some whinging aussies involved as well. Refuse to ride, then nowhere to ride. I've ridden on swamp like conditions, you adjust and get on with it.
  6. My view is if the riders cannot make one league pay, then they get another job as well if they want to continue riding. This happened routinely in the past.
  7. I think he can have a legitimate complaint because the reason for sanctions against anyone competing at IoW or another non-BSPA track are 'not in the interests of speedway' but about being in the cartel or not. It is not really much different to Poland restricting their riders competing in leagues overseas but the difference here is that it's all speedway in Britain and the promotion and benefit the IoW brings to that surely has to be recognised.
  8. Erm no I don't! Just rely on them to tell me who's in the semis/final. If I was there in person I would though. Always good to see a good race at any level, passing or not, but the end result doesn't interest me (GP results that is).
  9. BSPA made similar threats to anyone in the past riding at Lydd, because they didn't operate as part of the BSPA cartel. It is wholly petty and very short-sighted. It's long since overdue that the P was removed from their name.
  10. Excellent, just got a ticket! Thanks. Bizarre for the ticket site to give out the sold out message and it may put others off attending.
  11. Tickets sold out online, I am thinking of coming up from Ipswich but don't want a wasted journey. Its it still a1000 maximum capacity?
  12. Should be a wolves win. Ostergaard is tough to cover for on the form he was in, great gating. Nicholls has dropped off a little recently.
  13. Jorgensen was pacy and reeled in Cook in one race so was surprised he didn't get ht 15 but if Riss had ridden a better line he could easily have stayed third.
  14. Depends what glasses you wear and what your expectations are. 5 of us went tonight and all enjoyed it. Cooks determined last to first coming out of bend two was great to see. Speedway is not all about overtaking and there were more passes than you state anyway. It's painful to watch Allen trying to ride a wide line, doesn't suit his style at all.
  15. He's always been that type of rider though in my view. If he comes out of bend 2 in front he can be fast, if he doesn't, he isn't and looks as if he's not interested. Confidence is a funny old thing.
  16. I see Nicholls tweeted that he has a bit of a shoulder injury, not helped by his fall last night.
  17. Was the best meeting I've seen at Foxhall for some time with two teams prepared to race and the track having more than one line. Congrats to all at Ipswich Witches. For the Crump moaners on here, he was injured, tried to ride once and was clearly not fit and he hasn't ridden since. Therefore a guest is perfectly legitimate and a team will always choose someone in form.
  18. I don't think so. He was in hospital so people know he was injured. A doctor never refuses to sign you off if you want to be anyway, ooh oww yeah just there.
  19. Having viewed the races (thanks Racers & Royals) I think only the first one (heat 4) was his fault. He took Kildemand by surprise clearly and he did do a bit of a Pawlicki and came down easily but there looked to be some contact (and Pedersen himself has done this many times as well when passed on the inside, particularly on the first turn). But, he definitely did not deserve to be exclude for heat 18 and 20. There was clear space and for heat 18, they went into the bend side by side and the rider on the outside should have known they'd run out of room. His questioning of the ref was justified but not knowing what he said then I cannot comment on the ban being deserved or not. It did always get people energised though when a rider remonstrated with the ref, whether on the phone or in person and as not as no serious threats are made I don't see the harm in that. I remember McEnroe in tennis using some choice language towards umpires/camera operators and other 'officials' which made him box office also.
  20. Was Shawn, who admitted he'd lost the desire/will to do it properly any more and was scaring himself.
  21. I can only think it's a mental thing. Once you lose that it's very difficult to come back from.
  22. I'm just glad to see the racing back, given the awful 18 months we've been through and am prepared to cut them some slack as they're under some strain at present with restrictions and rider availability. Glass half full for me, not half empty.
  23. Chin up. I just go to see some close matches or decent racing or incidents (not crashes) and am not so concerned by the scores/who wins. Things don't always go the way you might want but that's life, we walk on.
