  1. Sad to hear of his passing, condolences to Linda. I went to many of his schools in the 90s progressing from his bikes to when I bought my own and progressed to STR and league riding - he used my photo for his promo leaflets. Great character, loved fried chicken, a drink or two and the odd swear word! Such a talented racer across many disciplines.
  2. Such a shame. Obviously it wouldn't have been kept since 2017, not something described as a stadium - a fence on pallets maybe. I can only hope they do return in 2022.
  3. Jeremy Doncaster works at RAF Wattisham which started with electrics many years ago but has widened a lot since then. He's also a machine examiner at Ipswich. Backtrack magazine is a good source of articles such as this thread, well worth a subscription.
  4. Not much margin for under inflation when many only use about 5 psi in the first place!
  5. I don't buy the "Bewley has rubbish equipment" line at all. It's the way things are set up and the mechanics with him at those meetings would have made a difference, perhaps mentally as well as it could have raised his confidence
  6. Absolutely agree about the part I've put in bold. To me, it doesn't matter if they're 60 years old, if they're in your top two, then they should ride.
  7. I quite enjoyed the anticipation of unpredictability tonight. Birkermose looked good, as did Zmarzlik and Lindgren. Shame Kemp didn't get a ride.
  8. Sometimes yes but he has talent no doubt and time to develop.
  9. Bbc says rain due again there at 8pm local time?
  10. I quite like it, piston, rod, chain wheel, barrel and levers
  11. I've had nothing but joy and good service from plusnet
  12. I don't think he was team riding at all, just trying not to be passed himself. The guy in red was always going to win the race and Pawlicki was vulnerable on the outside.
  13. I don't think it does though. Teams will want to get first and second or first and third every race if they can, else they risk not being in the final.
  14. Disagree with this. First and fourth to me is the same as second and third - in no way are the two riders in second and third the better TEAM (not sure why we're using capitals but I'll go with it). First and second or first and third then yes, they are the better TEAM. Really don't like the points system at all as to me the whole point of speedway is to win the race. I'd really love for the final to be two riders from one country out in first and second, miles ahead only for one of them to have an EF on the last bend and the other nation wins, because they were the best TEAM - bet they'd re-think it again for next year.
  15. Do you mean individual world finals? How many times was it won with 10 points?
  16. Boring choices for wildcards, same old faces next year. Fricke and Thomsen fair enough - I'd have given Lidsey a place, as U21 champion. Feel sorry for Smolinski who was going to be in it this year but got injured. Glad Locktaev is a sub, deserved to get through the challenge. The rule of top six is clearly pointless.
  17. I'm a fan of the scoring system, adds unpredictability, something needed now most of the tracks are fastest bike wins. Scoring allows for an underdog to a great result.
  18. I don't think it makes it more likely in the slightest. Scoring more or less points in a race, if that's an option for you, has always been available. A scoring system makes no difference. Last year, who's to say Zmarzlik didn't offer incentives to others to defeat Madsen, or the other way around. If you want to manipulate the are always ways to do it. I think it's rarer than some think though. Team speedway in the UK always has conspiracy theorists over team scores, averages etc. Talking about a sport generates debate and interest which can actually attract media & viewers.
  19. Any format presents manipulation opportunity. In the old system, those who couldn't qualify for next year could help others, those safe for next year could help others. There's always room for manipulation if that's what you're open to.
  20. Whine whine whine, it's so unfair..... It's how they're doing it, live with it and enjoy the drama.
