  1. Then why does it have to be re-laid? Its not as though they've had 2 days to do it.. and why is new shale being drafted in? Rubbish. Heads want banging together..
  2. Exactly, this is suposed to be our stage for the season, heads want banging together..
  3. Well its not Rocket Science mate is it, if its not broke, you don't fix it...
  4. What a bunch of idiots, who's laying the track this year, because if its the same people they've made a right balls up with the shale, topsoil, or whatever it is.. Its not rocket science, you get the same shale as previous years, the red shale from Edinbourgh, or are we saving money and getting sand from Whitby beach!!!
  5. Interesting meeting to watch, if only you could cut part of the corner off out of turn 4 it would give riders a lot more scope to make long straights and cut up the inside, it looks rather narrow at that point.. Otherwise good meeting good crowd, puts some of the EL crowds to shame..
  6. I understand the NL rider bit, same applies to us, we can only have a 6 pt PL rider, but because its on Sky, it would have been nice to have two competitive teams to watch. It doesn't do Speedway any favours..
  7. Thats why the rules should be looked at for covering such absenties. With it also being a Sky meeting you really need the two best sides asembled as posible, it makes Speedway look a laughing stock.
  8. Shame, i was really looking forward to watching this meeting from another PL track. I just think some of the rules really do need looking at.. so its not just the EL that have this problem
  9. Mate, unfortunately you WILL need new Dranage and soakaways. Tarpaulin, there's Tarpaulin and Tarpaulin, we have heavy duty green stuff, but even that is not ideal. We lay ours on the entrance to bend one and bend three, but ideally, yes angled so all the water drains on to the infield, hence soakaways and drainage.. As for your last point, thats obvious, but you ever tried to predict this crappy british weather??
  10. Yeh but mate, you not taking into consideration a downpour like you had last night. You would have no chance. Im not saying covers can't save a meeting, they could and can, and yes, i agree what you saying, but you would need alterations to your corner fences, soakaways/drainage you would need strong covers, posibly rollers and my guess is the allround cost would be prohibited. And then you need the manpower, then say a rider goes through the fence a demolishes that and the rollers covers, you need spares you need 2 of everything, spare blowers 3-4 spare airfences, and eventually if the club do purchase airfences/ foamfences, they will not be cheap, depending what quality you go for. I don't know much about these foamfences, but imo the best airfence's on the market are the Swindon Airfences, and they cost. I know Bill owns the track and land, and in todays day and age that is a massive plus, no rent.... you also have machinery to be maintained, and that can also be very expensive. Yes you have a fair number of sponsors now, but i doubt Bill has a bottomless pit of money..
  11. Mate, end of the day it is not posible, one it would be a big expensive job, 2, you would have to get proper fittings for the fence, and rollers, and your fence on the bends would not be strong enough as its an extended fence, that would also need replacing. yes if you had prior warning of heavy rain before the meeting then perhaps, you could save the meeting, but as you saw tonight, rain comes down faster than a dozen humans could move. And you have to cover the whole track, even if you covered the bends like we did last week, that helps, but not if you get a sudden rain storm during the meeting. i do see your point, but cost would win the day..
  12. Think about it, lot easier said than done, especially if you get your Air/ polly fence!!
  13. That is correct, the PL will get Presedence. unless of course the Goalposts have been moved. But as Pirate Nick says...
  14. Must have been last year then, from £2.60 to £2.80.
  15. It had a re-vamp and went up in price.... I do hope, this year they push the boat out and give the British GP a good spread. This is supposed to be our flagship meeting. Good racecard, although we have to wait for the draw, maybe two three interviews with riders as to there expectations at Cardiff, statistics track size etc etc. Once a year we have this meeting, come on Mr Rising and co, lets make a big effort.. You might just sell a few more stars...
  16. Definately not. But i think its totally wrong, that Harris is given the Wildcard, and the runner up behind Tai at Wolves doesn't go to Cardiff, another balls up by the powers that be.. Becoming British Champion is one thing, but the biggest Carrot must be a place at Cardiff..
  17. Typical Tory, ignore him oldtimer, we all normally do....
  18. I nearly spilt my coffee laughing at this, take it you can't be, making your mind up... I know a song about that!!! Tell you what, i'll go for Doyley and Josh, who's open to a great deal of improvement.... Then again, it could be Doyley and Alex, or even Alex and Josh, or even Alex and Nick.. Nah, i'll stick with the first pairing..
  19. Its certainly not what you really want, that said, if you can get by reasonably well, that will be a bonus. Trophies are not given out in may or June... Hopefully Garry May will pull bunnies out of the hat, he usually does, problem is, you don't want to start pulling to many out . Its a sad fact of life that injuries do come in Speedway, its part and parcel of the sport. But, hopefully,,, you will get all your bad luck out the way now..
