Wouldn't it be absolutely fantastic if after a season of The Smugs and Somerset looking to have it between them , Berwick or Scunthorpe could spoil things and come through to be champions -

Exactly , you are just as liable to have your meeting rained off in July or August as you are in March or October with our unpredictable weather . Double headers are a last resort for promoters , but sometimes it just cant be helped . Hope both lads hurt last night make a full and speedy recovery , it's a cruel sport at times . -

Seems Rusty will be in for a busy night . After , hopefully , repeating his Derwent Park heroics from a fortnight ago against the Comets . He will be trying to repeat the feat in Somerset colours after the Tigers meeting -
Big welcome to our Cumbrian whipping boys this Sunday . This will be the second of our encounters with the ex-Tigers select after we attempt another glorious away win at Derwent Park on Saturday . Viktor and Kasper are back after their weekend on the cheap bevvy in Poland last week and we welcome Redcar's lunatic Pole , Rafael Konopka ,as our guest replacement for Dimitri . Obviously we canny underestimate the Comets as they always go well round our place , having fluked a win in the League Cup , but that humiliating slaughter we inflicted on them on their own track two weeks ago will leave them with mental scars that will have them in awe of every Tigers bib they see in the pits . Always nice to welcome back ex-Tigers after they fly the nest , for reasons no one can comprehend , so Josh , Mason and Wee Joe will play ball and not score many or else . Ricky Wells is another wannabe Tiger having guested a couple of times for us over in Overtaking Nirvana in the past . King Rusty and Theo will spearhead our assault on the points , and you never know Kevin might chip in too . Cracking meeting in prospect with the Tigers just shading it by about 6 points . Sundays teams are Derwent Park superstars 1 Viktar Palovaara 2 Theo Pijper 3 Kevin Wolbert or Kevin Wolbert 4 Tero Aarnio 5 King Rusty 6 Kasper Lykke 7 Rafael Konopka ( guest ) Our Bitches 1 Josh Grajczonek 2 Ricky Wells 3 Rene Bach 4 Mason Campton 5 Kyle Howarth 6 Joe Jacobs 7 Simon Lambert

That weekend was due to be Theo's testimonial , but i'm reading this morning that he's shelved it till next season . And given that , that weekend is the Glasgow September weekend , we could even race on the Monday if we have rescheduled a league meeting and the lads are struggling to get back -

It is one of life's mysteries why a sport so weather dependant , ends up having it's biggest encounters when the weather is deteriorating towards winter -

It really is time to bin the League Cup , takes up valuable race days at the start of the season and now we have the ridiculous situation of clubs racing weekly double headers . -

Sadly since " Glasgow's greatest ever guest reserve " had to miss his glorious return to Ashfield , why would you want the DVD ? -

As I said before , that rubbish on Facebook is only people trying to guilt trip those who gave it a miss . Was one of the poorest meetings of the season -

You had the brilliance of Pijper , but all from the gate . The usual couple of exciting races from Rusty when he missed the gate . The extravagances of Garrity locking up all over the place and the reliability of Kennett , except when Garrity got in his way . Apart from that you had two races in one going on . The two proper PL riders up front and Wobblers playtime going on the length of the straight behind . Only the predictable closeness of the scoreline kept us interested . If we are forced to go into a meeting against the Smugs in a fortnight , armed with a couple of wobblers , it will be a nausiating slaughter . Just thinking , was just as well Thomsen spat the dummy and we got Aarnio in cause Anders would probably have been at that rained off rubbish in Poland yesterday too . -

Those kind of Facebook antics are solely to try and make folk who stayed away today feel as if they missed something , they didn't . I'm glad I'm no longer on faceache and don't read the garbage on the speedway pages there . I'll stick to the garbage on here -

An unexpected three points , but very welcome nevertheless . The racing wasn't exactly rivetting , but our three own riders somehow came through . We badly needed Theo and Rusty to score over 30 between them to give us a chance , and boy did they deliver , both were immense . After a bad first ride Tero responded to give the necessary back up , and Aaron Fox despite riding a dodgy bike weighed in with important points . As for Rye , i think we were lucky they were the visitors today as i think every other team in the league would have taken advantage of our weakened team , only Kennet and Garrity gave us bother . Though Garrity was his usual erratic self , falling while in 2nd in one race and impeding his partner Kennett on heat 15's first and 2nd bend . There was a feeling we got out of jail today , thankfully the visitors were who they were . -

Suppose my thought processess are still stuck in a time where Britain was the centre of the speedway world . But regardless of that , what's on offer at Glasgow today is an affront to the Premier League and an insult to the paying public
