Famous last words -
Big warm welcome to Mad Machin and his Yorkshire Tigers in tomorrow's cut price speedway extravaganza . With Sheffield being the only place we've won away all season , obviously we had to offer cut price admission to try and tempt folk along to the expected mauling . With our play-off chances all but gone now , only pride is left at stake tomorrow . But with last season's greeting and moaning still fresh in the memory , we'll be keen to send the inferior Tigers back down to the Dales with their tails between their legs . Shame Joe Haines is injured again , because he's been a popular guest at the Veladrome this year , whether it's been for us or against us . Teams for tomorrow's spectacular for a tenner are - Glasgow 1 Joe Screen 2 Mason Campton 3 Josh Grajczonek 4 Henning Bager 5 James Grieves 6 Charles Wright 7 Filip Sitera Sheffield 1 Josef Franc 2 Hugh Skidmore 3 r/r for Sanchez 4 Richard Hall 5 Ricky Wells 6 Chris Schramm 7 Adam McKinna Weather forecast looks fine for tomorrow , so they're be no rain off / sun off / anything off tomorrow . Any Sheffield fan fancying to make the trip up can do so with confidence this time , but not of a win of course .

That's astonishing gestures , and why this sport is still so fantastic to be a part off . It's a shame so few Monarchs post on here , some have their reasons after feeling agrieved at some of the posts against Edinburgh . That's a shame , i especially miss King Jamie's amusing meeting previews . I wish they would come back , and although we never always saw eye to eye ..............not suprisingly , i miss the often intelligent and informed input they had to the forum . Which is a poorer place without them ...........................................................well ok maybe not without Snyper

Disappointing defeat for us last night , when i heard Doolan wasn't riding i thought we had a real chance . The track maybe wasn't up to it's usual standard , but there had been plenty heavy rain in the lead up to this . We started and finished with impressive 5-1's , but the bit in between was pretty average . If it wasn't for falls and ef's from Bears riders whilst in points scoring positions , then the final result would have been more emphatic . Summers , Kus and Oostergaard were pretty solid for the home riders , whilst Screen was excellent for us and was ably backed by Grieves . Campton also had his moments , impressively holding off Oostergaard in heat 1 . That was it for us though , we needed Grajczonek and Bager on their A game , but they seemed more intent with trying to knock each other off instead of troubling the Bears . Still Heat 13 gave us some value for our entrance money , that was a superb race . But the most pleasing aspect of the night for me was spending some time with the Bears fans who are a welcoming bunch and a credit to their club .

Agree with you mate , the sport was so much less confusing when the 2nd tier was made up of British and Commonwealth riders only . Dont suppose there is the sufficient number of riders these days for that though . Anyway , onto today . Is it raining there at the moment ? Saw on the weather forecast any rain was to clear by lunchtime and it's to be dry there after . Hope this morning's rain isn't too heavy .

Did Magnus Zetterstrom not get a ban for riding in Polish play-offs instead of Somerset a few seasons ago ? Cant keep track of what stunts foreign riders are allowed to get away with . We've got Filip Sitera missing our meeting at Redcar tomorrow because he's riding in the Czech Republic , but he's hot footing it back in time to guest for Edinburgh on Friday night . You couldn't make it up

No thread for this , so i'll start it myself . We should be along the usual lines of 1 Screen , 2 Campton , 3 Grajczonek , 4 Bager , 5 Grieves , 6 Wright , 7 Sitera . Unsure what the Bears' line-up is these days , but i'm hoping we give them a run for their money . Any weather info would be helpful thanks .

I see what you're saying , but if you do get an extra 500 through the gate there's a good chance they'll spend in the bars , food outlets etc . We're doing the same at Glasgow on Sept 2nd , though that might be looked upon as a last act of desperation . -

Put the spoon away -
Especially against a side who wont bring any travelling support

You couldn't criticise any rider on a day like today was . The rain started around an hour before the meeting was due to start and gradually got heavier until the premature end at the end of heat 12 . Tommy was on the pace in heat 2 , which is probably the best yardstick on which to judge the young lad on . A difficult day for all the riders , but i hope the young lad forges a career in the sport .

Newcastle V Edinburgh Pl Match Sunday 19th August 2012

Like what we watched at Glasgow for 12 heats today . -
Shame the rain ruined this a spectacle for the small crowd that braved the elements . But as usual for rain affected meetings , it was a non-event . Couldn't criticise any of the riders as they all had a go , but the track grew increasingly difficult and it was no surprise when it got stopped after heat 12 . Mr Tungate will be feeling a bit delicate for a few days going by the way he was bouncing up and down during heat 4 , the 2nd bend clearly gave him great difficulty to negotiate . Three points was the only consilation on another day of financial doom and gloom facing our club .

That's also true . There's nothing worse than being stood there ( sometimes for about an hour ) with nowt happening . Ok for the likes of me to spend the time in the bar , but folk with kids with them there cant do that .

Agree with everything the last two posters have said , but it's all down to costs . Suppose every track keeps things like that to a minimum .

Beautiful morning . We are due some rain later , but it doesn't seem to be as threatening to the meeting as what was forecast yesterday . So all systems go for what should be an interesting meeting . What was the problem with Taylor Poole at Workington last night ? Is he struggling for fitness after his long lay-off ?
