  1. Had a great night in the Leaping Salmon , didn't miss the speedway at all . Be back at the end of July
  2. True , had paid for the train tickets and bed and breakfast so decided just to have a day out in Berwick anyway And it was raining when I got off the train at ten past one
  3. Canny blame them , I wouldn't want to take us on without Leon Flint either
  4. Going by our recent away fixtures , we'll need to be 14 points ahead by heat 13 to secure the points . So we'll need Summers and co to keep doing what they've been doing for another week yet .
  5. Disappointed Tiger heading home , but today is why speedway is the best sport in the world , the best two teams in the league served up a classic on a brilliant track .
  6. This kind of thing never works . Seems a good idea on paper , but there is always a reserve who improves out of all proportion . I would imagine there will be a few instances this season where a number 7 will be " injured " just before a tough fixture . Smith's injury is a legitimate one as he crashed during the week , but I admit circumstances have fallen favourably for us .
  7. Not a bad meeting at all . Shame restrictions meant that the crowd was sparse because the racing deserved a better atmosphere . For us Cook was his usual dominant self , only losing his maximum to Wright from the coffin box gate 4 . He was well supported by Nicol , Ostergaard and Jensen . And a word about our guest , Danyon Hume , he was brilliant , and exciting to watch . For the Bears , Wright and Allen carried the main fight , but after all the Anders Rowe hype this season , he was very disappointing . The covid nonsense seemed to go smoothly and we were never harassed to wear a mask , which was good. On to Redcar on Sunday now
  8. Visiting reserve outscores home number 1 and visiting reserve gets criticised ? Only in speedway
  9. I have my ticket for Sunday and will be there . Its a joke I have to travel all over the country to see speedway when I'm not allowed into my local track
  10. The deafening silence coming.out of Ashfield makes me think we'll still be watching the telly again on Friday night . Which is nonsense
  11. Its an interesting experience going to a meeting as a neutral , you dont get wrapped up in the emotional side of things . Was impressed with how Berwick are coping with all the covid nonsense , it didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary being at a meeting . To be honest I didn't really notice that much difference in Berwick's track , but in saying that , there were some decent races , the highlight being Etheridge and Howarth in heat 12 . Don't think Berwick will come up against a better duo than Douglas and Morris again this season , so if Gappmaier continues his home form and Flint continues on his sharp upward curve , get Summers and Busk Jacobsen going and the Bandits will be a match for anybody .
  12. PEntertaining enough meeting last night, Berwick's strength in depth overcoming Leicester's three man team . Leicester unable really to cope with r/r for Bates as only the Thompson Twins and the woeful Proctor able to cover his rides . Cant be too critical of the twins as they're just finding their feet at championship level , but when Leicester needed something in heat 14 , they had to go with Proctor . Heats 13 and 15 were nailed on 5-1's as Douglas and Morris were just about unstoppable. So heat 14 was their undoing .
  13. Thats breathtakingly arrogant . Maybe those riders weren't at it because the opposition rode well and didn't allow them.to be at it
  14. Who is Glasgow's man of the match ? Craig Cook , Sam Jensen or Gary Havelock ?
  15. Are we supposed to guess who crosses the finishing line in the lead , in tight races ?
  16. The current and two former British Champions on show tonight , but the crucial factor could be our reserves and middle order . If Sam and Broc carry their form over from the Kent meeting we should have enough to see us home
  17. All we need is Goebbels in stillettos to let us into Ashfield and we're on.our way back to normality
  18. Tigers against the best heat leader trio in the league , will strength in depth prevail ? Wish I was there instead of having to watch it on the telly
  19. Having a wee break from watching speedway on the telly ( yeah thanks Nicola ) to take in some of the live and in the flesh variety . Should be a cracker against the reigning champions . Wouldnt mind Berwick lowering their colours though
  20. Whatever caused the feud between him and his brother ?
