Josh Auty And The Not 28 Day Ban
lucifer sam replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So.... if someone looked back to your 2008 posts on here, would they find you morally outraged about Hans Andersen being able to join Coventry after a 14-day-ban rather than a 28-day-ban, or would they find you saying "Welcome to Brandon, Hans!!" All the best Rob -

So you're now admitting that there has been a 14-day ban option all along Yes, for Andersen, I believe it was initially announced as 28 days, than reduced to 14, because the rider was willing and able to return. So another precedent in terms of what has happened with Josh Auty. All the best Rob -

Tomasz Piszcz and Hans Andersen are another couple of riders. I could produce a big, long list of them, but what's the point. 14 or 28 days are clearly both options. Facility to Scunthorpe was for 28 days. Rider can return (to same club) after 14 days. All the best Rob -

Was he on the MC when Peterborough's Hans Andersen was handed a 14-day-ban rather than a 28-day-ban in 2008? All the best Rob -
Josh Auty And The Not 28 Day Ban

Reading that, Pavlic only agreed to return after the 28-day-facility had expired. Had he wished to, he could have returned within 14 days, which would have been the actual length of his ban. Star Lady, well I’d never leave you waiting for a reply It’s because it’s the comparable example where a rider hasn’t switched clubs, but has actually remained with his original club, and where the original club wants him back and where the rider wants to come back. Which isn’t your typical example. Of course, it happens less often, so people are more used to seeing the 28-day-ban. But both 28 and 14 days have been about in the same years. Let’s take 2005. Klymakorpi moves from Peterborough to Coventry, Peterborough are given a 28-day-facility in order to replace him, and therefore he can’t appear for Bees until that facility is expired. And yet what the Henka Gustafsson example from later that year demonstrates is that had Klymakorpi wanted to return to Peterborough rather than move elsewhere, then he could have do so within 14 days. But it's not the way it's always worked, is it? How many days was Henka Gustafsson banned for in 2005? Simply answer me that question. It will give you a clue how long a 14-day-ban has been in place. All the best Rob -

You're confusing a rider wanting to join another club, and a rider returning to the same club. When a rider returns to the same club, it's 14 days. This hasn't been just invented. Take a look back what happened with Henka at Oxford in 2005. Admit it, you got it wrong, and confused two different situations. All the best Rob -

He has been banned. But SCB made a mistake in the first post of this thread. A ban is for 14 days, not 28. It has been since at least 2005. It hasn't suddenly been invented. All the best Rob -

Ban is 14 days. It has been since at least 2005, when Henka was banned for 14 days when he rode for Sweden (his hometown club were facing relegation) above an Oxford meeting. Was 14 days then, is still 14 days then. All the best Rob -

SCORPIONS SET TO NAME NEW RIDER HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions’ promoter Rob Godfrey will reveal the rider to replace the retired Josh Auty – from the centre green of the Eddie Wright Raceway! Godfrey will name his new signing during tomorrow’s (Sunday) Knockout Cup clash between Scorpions and Peterborough Panthers (start-time 5.30pm). He says: “I always like our loyal supporters to know the news first. “The plan is to announce the replacement for Josh Auty during the parade during the Scorpions v Peterborough meeting.” -

Disagree. The cream always rises to the top. When they tightened up on the rules on tape touching (previously you were only excluded for actually breaking the tapes) in the mid-to-late 80s, first at British domestic level and then at FIM level, the same riders were still at the top. Mauger would have been a multiple World Champion whatever the rules. All the best Rob -
I think it has to count doesn't it? It was a competitive meeting, despite the age of the competitors! In my case, that's how I can count Fundin and Briggs. All the best Rob

R/R + Nathan Greaves. Greaves is probably the best guest out there to use in place of Josh Bailey. All the best Rob -

That was one year earlier in 2006. Glad when we kicked out Rickardsson two weeks early and brought in Todd Wiltshire, who actually wanted to ride for us and was willing to help out the rest of the team. All the best Rob

From an Oxford perspective, probably the 2007 EL team before it went t*ts up. Massive and depressing home defeats to Coventry, Poole and Swindon. The 2007 season started on a massive low with the EL team, then we had a CL team which was like a phoenix from the flames and was hugely enjoyable and included one of my favourite meetings of all-time (the sheer drama of the play-off semi vs Plymouth), then the bombshell in November after the season ended. SCORPIONS SEEKING A LIFT AFTER A BLACK WEEKEND THE EDDIE WRIGHT RACEWAY stages a 33-heat feast of speedway on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon (3pm), with the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions hosting the Newcastle Diamonds in the SGB Championship, followed by the 500cc and 250cc classes of the second round of the British Youth Championship. It’s been a dreadful weekend for Scorpions, rocked by the shock retirement of the club legend Josh Auty, which came just 24 hours after youngster Josh Bailey announced he ‘needed time out’ to allow his injured shoulder time to fully heal. Both riders have quit with immediate effect, leaving Scorpions searching for two new riders. In the meantime, they will utilise rider replacement for Auty against the Diamonds at the EWR, while David Wallinger will guest for Bailey. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “Let’s not beat around the bush - it’s been a horrible weekend for the club, with the news about firstly Josh Bailey and then the huge bombshell regarding Josh Auty. “I’m absolutely devastated that Josh Auty has quit, and I know a lot of our supporters will be feeling the same. “The one thing that can lift us all is getting back on-track around the Eddie Wright Raceway, seeing some cracking speedway and witnessing a Scorpions’ victory over Newcastle. “It won’t be easy, but if were fire on all our remaining cylinders, we can take three league points from the meeting. “We have an extra 18 races with the cream of Britain’s youngsters taking to the track for the second round of the British Youth Championship at both 250cc and 500cc level. There are some great kids involved who have bright futures in the sport. “It should be a top afternoon of action, and maybe that will be the medicine that we all need.” Diamonds are led by British Under-21 Champion Robert Lambert, and also feature ex-Scorpion Steve Worrall. Bank Holiday Monday’s adult admission price for the double-header is £17. It’s just £2 more than a single SGB Championship meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway, for 18 extra heats of action. A full and exciting afternoon of racing is ahead. DON’T MISS IT! Admission prices for Bank Holiday Monday: Adult: £17.00 Student/OAP: £15.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £39 (2 adults, 2 Children 16-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for Bank Holiday Monday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Michael Palm Toft (captain), 2. Carl Wilkinson, 3. Lewis Kerr, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Rider replacement for Josh Auty, 6. Tero Aarnio, 7. David Wallinger (guest). Newcastle Diamonds: 1. Robert Lambert, 2. Ashley Morris, 3. Lewis Rose, 4. Ludvig Lindgren, 5. Steve Worrall, 6. Ben Hopwood, 7. Connor Coles. British Youth Championship (500cc class): Charlie Brooks, Kean Dicken, Elliot Bloxsome, Liam Little, James Laker, Drew Kemp, Daniel Gilkes. British Youth Championship (250cc class): Jordan Palin, Jacob Clayton, Dan Thompson, Jake Mulford, Nathan Ablitt, Leon Flint, Joe Thompson, Danny Curl, Jason Edwards.

To me, Buxton are the archetypal third-tier club. If they are struggling to compete in the NL then something has gone wrong. I know how passionate you are about this level of speedway. I feel for you mate. All the best Rob

Just to confirm that Josh Bailey has also quit Scunthorpe. All the best Rob

It's Mildenhall 2008. A team with a rather unfortunate record. All the best Rob
