  1. i don't necessarilly go along with the standard 'dropping' as there's good and bad racing in all leagues, but i wonder if those riders on a certain average have held out for more money and therefore taken up the wage spots that were there previously with the 'stars' of the sport. or it could be that the clubs are taking a chance at opening and with so many people being furloughed or losing their jobs they want to try to get as much money in as possible to cover what possibly could be lost on the terraces
  2. advertising within speedway has been a problem for many years, they preach to the converted, speedway star etc, the only times i've seen proper advertising was when Jonathan Chapman had the trailer/bikes taken around the area including the high street, also attended various events around town, and also had the tie up with the study centre to try to encourage kids and their family. i know Jonathan wasn't everyone's cup of tea but he tried. the other advertising i've seen is more recent with plenty of adverts for the Isle of Wight around the island, including flyers at the main beaches. the lack of advertising is certainly not a new phenomenon, but with the number of people around the country that have never heard of the sport, or answer when you talk about it that they used to go and is it still running, it's very worrying. it seems that too much is relied on the hard core support, and seeing the age of that hard core support it's got to be worrying. even when i took pictures at speedway i would get them online for people to see, it's all got to be an advert for the sport, but in later years even that was restricted as clubs wanted to only put something out when they decide. to me that was a poor decision that denied those that couldn't make it to a meeting, or stopped people seeing something that might make them want to visit.
  3. in my view the only London stadium to offer some of the facilities supporters in this day and age require is West Ham's ground. plenty of restaurants etc a 5 minute walk away, but i don't know about accomodation. Wembley would be a no-go because nothing interferes with the FA. as a Cardiff alternative i can only see Belle Vue, but would struggle getting a good crowd because of a lack of local facilities. Bradford would be good, used to love the track, but once again only lends itself to people coming in and getting out (quickly) so would be a no-go for a lot of the Polish supporters that swell the Cardiff crowd quite considerably
  4. are the IOW going to run at amateur level so not 'paying' riders, but maybe prize money? i would think maybe the best option is riders without a BSPL contract, and you never know it could actually do both of the organisations the world of good, i.e still give track time and bring on young riders ready to move to a club
  5. i'm guessing it's the Iwade track that has been there for years as a training (and briefly league) track
  6. maybe they want to see how things go and what sort of impact it would have on the speedway first? wasn't Debbie the one that resigned from the BSPL management team? ominous for sure, but at the end of the day business is business, although tracks as good as Somerset are few and far between
  7. https://speedwaygp2021.seetickets.com/event/2021-adrian-flux-british-fim-speedway-grand-prix/cardiff/1435110?_ga=2.241120067.1354768264.1618499446-2008580586.1618499446 actually clicking to buy says tickets not available
  8. i'd suggest it was used as a practice, is Andersen still interested in GP's?
  9. fair play, if you're going to be in and you need info on vpn let me know
  10. i watch the GP's and SoN on my pc using a VPN making it look like i'm in another country, that way i can watch the Speedway GP website live coverage with no cuts to the studio but getting all the interviews with riders instead. it's the feed used on the big screens at the track. the VPN i use is free
  11. JC had some decent ideas, not all necessarily, but in the process i think it upset people because he wanted to change things. the theme nights at Kings Lynn seemed to work, and the super seven events under one banner was a good idea
  12. ahhh ok, don't get the star so didn't see it
  13. i remember there being some sort of squad system, didn't think it was that far back though. was it a way of using NL riders how they wanted?
  14. careful if you do get it, the cover might fall off
  15. mine was Wimbledon, Hackney, Canterbury, Rye House most weeks
  16. lots of benefits here .. Richard has been around speedway bikes long enough to help if needed elsewhere too i expect
  17. if he's working for Buster then it will just allow him to cover a larger area for both clubs
  18. unfortunately i think there are a fair number of secret "i told you so" on this forum, just to prove a point if things fail
  19. i do know that when buster rebuilt the stands at Kings Lynn he even had disabled people in to get extra advice
  20. looks similar to what Milton Keynes did with Elfield Park
  21. was Connor not on the rising star list because his average is too high or did he refuse the conditions and get blackballed?
