Rather ironic that all the criticism of James Sarjeant he has after 7 heats has scored half the Glasgow score with 6 out of 12 -
They built it in the studio from the start line to the first bend .It was not well received by the Speedway fraternity and the leading player Dirk Bogarde who played Farr did not like motorbikes I used to think this was the only film with a Speedway theme until I discovered a film call "There is another sun" in 1952 and sometimes called" Wall Of Death" It starred Lawrence Harvey as a fairground boxer and Maxwell Reed as Rocky , a wall of death rider who needed to get a Speedway bike to win the Speedway invitation race at their local track, and win £100. Looking at the film I am certain that this was filmed at West Ham. Maxwell Reed was the first husband of Joan Collins and the film was directed by Lewis Gilbert who went on to direct "The spy who loved me" Oddly enough both film endings finished up the same.

Odd that Mel Stuart was still wrestling against Les Kellet a year later. I wonder how many 100's of times they fought each other around the country.

No Aussies In British Speedway 2018
mickthemuppet replied to rocketman77's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Surely all countries except Germany and Japan fought alongside Great Britain in world wars -
From Sky point of view they have nailed their sports coverage to Premiership football where the interesting is waning. fast They paid far to much for this and are having to cut back on nearly all other sports. They have lost all mens tennis except the grand slams to Amazon from 2019 so they are hardly going to go to speedway again

Why do people on here not understand that Speedway is and always been run to make profits for the promoters and the riders. Ask any promoters if they could win the league yet lose money or not win the league and make money .I know what the answer would be. At one time if you wanted a guest rider you would ask their promoter if this is possible .Now the promoter does not know where his riders might be. Do you think that Chris Harris cares a monkey how his team is getting on when he might end up guest riding for every team in both leagues For him it is money in the bank and good luck to him.

Jason Doyle is the best rider in the world at the moment but he will not be the next world champion as he takes to many chances and will end up getting injuried again -

As Ipswich have had up to 15,000 for world stock car finals and now have addition seating on the bacK straight surely this is higher than any Speedway track in UK -

I knew there was something wrong as I opened up on Betfair at 9/1 which I thought was quite generous. This gradually drifted to 17/1 with hardly any takers. All the money was for Tai and Jason who were both three figures losers in my book. So quite a lot of people knew
