  1. IN would not happen in the old days having Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger riding for team GB
  2. There is the added bonus of the Warsaw GP which preceeds this live Swedish TV match.
  3. Riveting stuff from Nigel and Kelvin on tonight's live Sky meeting about Saturday's GP. Great interview from Chris Louis with Jason Doyle about his Green Light exclusion. Or did I see Patrick Duffy just walk out of the shower
  4. If the riders withdrew their services after heat 12 then they have done untold damage to themselves. They should have carried on and just gone through the motions for the remaining heats. It is they that will suffer most especially in the pocket if people say we will not go to any more GP's. or it could result in the GP's folding completely. After Jason Doyle got excluded there were no more problems starting off on the green light.
  5. With the wrong decision not to rerun heat two add to the starting on the green light then going back to the tapes start which did not work properly. Then the track is now breaking up and a dispute between the riders and te promoters you can see that this meeting is finished from the night
  6. racing to continue 10/1 racing to be cancelled 1/20 racing to continue 10/1 racing to be cancelled 1/20
  7. At 20.40 it looks certain that this meeting will not reach it's logical conclusion tonight
  8. Seriously what a great Speedway meeting. It's like a murder mystery. Nobody knows what is going to happen next. Riveting Speedway or perhaps not speedway but what can happen next
  9. The tapes not going up evenly. Heat 2 it should have been re run. If there was not a problem why are they being worked on.
  10. I think this is a test match on 20th of May 1932 at the Buffalo Stadium(named after Buffalo Bill) at Montrouge, Paris This was about 4 miles from the centre of the French Capital. There were three teams which had one rider each. They were Ray Tauser(Usa) , Jack Parker (England) and Charles Belissent (France) who rode for West Ham as well. The meeting consisted of 5 races with the 3 riders. Jack Parker won three of the races and Ray Tauser won the other two. The track was 382 metres
  11. Surely the riders on gates one, two and three will not be too happy about. this. After all they are racing for money
  12. It's a pity that the tapes did not go up evenly. No wonder nearly everybody were getting flyers from gate four. Not the ideal scenario for a good meeting.
  13. Good win for Coventry tonight on a track they did not expect to do well on. No weaknesses throughout the team. 22/1 looking rather good already
  14. League Speedway should be taken off television. That's the only way the attendances will ever increase . I never used to miss a home match but I never went when it was on Sky.
  15. Semi Final and Final reverted back to points scoring of 4-3-2-1
  16. New Science Although Cheltenham is recession proof like Wimbledon Racing it is not booming. I think 2 years ago the average attendance was 831. at Lingfield. I think it will be the last year for my local Point to Point. . There would be no county cricket if the counties did not get Test Money . Northamptonshire just announced they lost £800,000 in the last two years. The football league attendances are less than half they were back in the 1940/50s Non league football clubs have lost at least 75% of the gates during that time Cinemas admissions have gone from 1,600,000,000 in their heyday to 1,250,000 today. How many cinemas or theatres are left today. There used to be over 100 greyhound stadiums down to 33 today. not counting the unlicensed tracks which are nearly all gone. How many boxing and Wrestling promotions are there today. Very few So it's not just Speedway that has it's problems. How many sports are booming? So it's not just Speedway that is suffering.
  17. Speedway on Sky Sports 3 this afternoon (Wednesday) at 15.00 to 16.00 2003 Elite League Riders Championship 2010 Coventry v Swindon 2009 Poole v Coventry 2005 Coventry v Belle Vue
  18. Yer ,the Sun going to have loads of London Speedway to talk about in 1964 when their were only two London Clubs left Ii the Nation League compared to 6 in 1949. All the big Speedway coverage in the National/London papers dropped once Wembley ceased racing.
  19. The Sun would have had a job publishing Speedway results in the 1940/50's as it never started until 1964.
  20. There is a Tubby Issac's in Clacton Rumour has it that the Labour Party will be having their party meetings inside there now Douglas Carswell has taken everybody's votes
  21. When Speedway was at Wembley just after the war the Evening News would have the whole back page full of that evening meeting with pictures of all the riders and a write up of them and the all the heat details. . The atmosphere was terrific outside the stadium where you could buy favours, rattles, scarves and badges There were usually 50,000-60,000 there for a normal league match and once I think there were 87,000 there. Happy Days. The next morning the Daily Express would carry the result of the meeting and the scorers.and a write up of the meeting. There were more write ups in the morning papers on Speedway than there ever were about football.
