This is great fun. I dread to think what the reaction would be if something important happens!! -

Looks like some people have way too much time on their hands. The site clearly states it's scope but some still seem surprised and alarmed. I've no interest in the third tier and do not count it as anything more than junior racing. That's my view and stance. It 's not going to change because a couple of people see fit to whinge about something they don't have to look at. Easy to whine about something that has cost them no effort or time. With regards to the database queries. Unfortunately my db skills would fit onto a postage stamp. More than happy for someone with the required knowledge to help exploit the usability of the data if they wish. -

Doesn't purport anything of the sort. The extract below is the website Introduction: "The following section is posted with enormous gratitude to Frigbo who has allowed us to use his extensive rider database. It contains all riders from the top two British leagues from 1965 and lists details of every appearance (including guest appearances by 2nd division riders for 1st division teams. Guest rides undertaken in the same league as the rider's club are not included), as well as individual honours. In the case of GP appearances, a "wildcard" could mean a rider who has come in to replace another. As you can imagine, this has been a time consuming project for us, as well as those who should also be named and thanked for their considerable help - Subedei, kevh, hatcham and genghis. So for this reason, I would ask that our copyright is respected. We would also like to thank Doug MacFarlane for allowing us to use his photos. Again, please respect his copyright. We have also been working hard to archive full results for as many meetings as possible. Results for junior meetings have been indexed on the same thread as the senior meetings to avoid having too many threads on one board and for ease of viewing. Likewise for National Championships - British, Swedish, Polish, etc, finals are all on one thread. The indexes in this section should provide quick links to results and riders in the database. Please let us know of any errors or omissions so they can be corrected as soon as possible. Read more: http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/2931/introduction#ixzz2lOqu6ecA" Need to pay more pre-rant attention next time Mr P. Maybe you missed it as you're so busy collating all of the third tier rider and meeting data?? Give us a shout in 4 years time when you've pulled together as much as we have. -

I update the rider element of that site. I haven't included the third tier because in my view it is the equivalent of junior racing and is of no interest to me. Similar to Parsloes' insult in many ways. -
The lads at work commented about it. Basically "that kid who won the speedway looks like a right mess and sounds foreign!!" was the general concensus.

Hawksbee And Jacobs - Talksport

They were right. The majority of speedway races are settled after the first turn. -
Guests are undoubtedly my single biggest 'bugbear' with Speedway. R/R, although not ideal is a far better option as it means teams utilise their own side.

Swc Perfect Rules - Any Ideas?
frigbo replied to krompa's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A reserve is a must - max of 5 rides - all riders in main team must have a minimum of 1 ride. Reserve can't take joker ride. Joker at 10 points down - that way two successive heat wins still mean team trailing are behind (9 point swing max), cannot be used after heat 16. No tac subs. World Cup to only be held every 4 years. It's devalued by taking place every year. -
I think it's blatantly obvious that we are anything but a Speedway super-power at the moment. Similarly it's blatantly obvious that we should not be losing to teams like the Latvian and American sides on display last night. In my view, Middlo is a poor Team Manager at both club and international level. He is tactically woeful and appears to lack the required levels of drive and man-management to get the best from the limited resources he has. Team GB are about the 5th strongest nation when all are at full strength, any finish below that is unacceptable and an under-achievement. The BSPA treat Team GB as an add on for one week of the year and the whole setup is geared in that fashion. Middlo appears to have no ambition or appetite to challenge that and put am infrastructure in place to improve things. That's what a Team GB Team Manager job is about, not picking a bunch or riders and holding a clipboard for a week in July. Middleditch treats the job with the same apathy as the Management Committe and must go.

Who Should Be In Gb World Cup Team?
frigbo replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If anything Harris is the dubious call on 2013 form. Kennett is far from world class but the options are limited. We're not going to win it so may as well have chucked Worrall in too, particularly at Lynn. -

Exactly how I saw it. Freddie being discluded was a poor decision. -
Vaclav Milik never rode for a UK team.
-
That's not true. The Watford analogy doesn't work because the players were on loan and not just stepping in for one match. This compares with Eddy Kennett being on loan to Swindon for example, not teams full of other sides' riders as a one off. The Workington match last night was ridiculous, the Comets were significantly stronger by picking the low average, in form riders from elsewhere.
-
Definitely Petr Vandirek to the left of the three.

It's disgraceful that British Speedway still finds time to entertain riders like Mitchell Davey. There have been countless foreign riders who are sub-standard but shift around from team to team, without ever improving. The PL isn't about being a meal-ticket for the likes of Davey, Jade Mudgway, Max Dilger, Alex Edberg etc. Two seasons or over 21, averaging less then 5 - get rid!

Riders' First Names Trying To Identify

Phil Cornwell failed to score for Paisley at Crayford in 1976 in a 51-27 defeat.
