  1. First signings https://www.berwickspeedway.com/news/leading-the-pack/
  2. I have long maintained that £15, a pound per race, is about right for Championship level speedway, even more so now if the product is to be watered down to increase that gap between Premiership and Championship. As you say a concession price of £18 is an still expensive night out for many, as by the way is £20 for full paying adults, but we hope that the promotion have done their research and this is the price they consider fair to the paying customer and to bring in much needed regular revenue. If you want to watch speedway then we know the price on the ticket, you either pay it or you don't.
  3. Workington seem to be on a secure financial footing at National League level, with the NL all but disappearing they had the choice to move up or stay in a league of few clubs. Obviously Championship speedway will cost more but I think Workington speedway are here to stay. Less sure about Birmingham, I`m sure they have received all the help possible from the BSPL for them to make to move to Premiership racing but if the crowds don`t significantly improve then they may face a very uncertain future. Oxford seem financially secure but three league racing is, on the face of it, a move to far.
  4. You can cross Mildenhall off that list, they have announced that they will not compete in 2024.
  5. Happens every season, where just about every rider is rumoured to be heading to Glasgow. Don`t see Pearson ending up at Glasgow as it would leave Pearson and Pijper as the Glasgow bottom two which is weak IMO.
  6. Attracting fans over from Wolves on a regular bases could be make or break for the future of Birmingham speedway as if the crowds Birmingham had at Championship level, they were no where near big enough to support Premiership speedway you would've thought. Either that or they attract enough sponsorship to cover any losses and big or even medium sponsorships are pretty thin on the ground.
  7. Sheffield announce the signing of Chris Holder.
  8. Another Tigers signing incoming, they`re certainly not messing around at Owlerton.
  9. *TRANSFER WINDOW: The traditional end-of-August transfer cut-off has been replaced by a transfer window, which will close when a club has completed 75 per cent of their regular league matches. This is idiotic, they have created a situation where every club could have a different closure of their transfer window creating an advantage for those who have a late window.
  10. Sheffield confirm Jack Holder and Tai Woffinden as their first two signings.
  11. If clubs now have the option of using a guest or rider replacement to cover any of their top five, I think next season will see a guest fest of incredible proportions.
  12. Unless Oxford have an impressive list of major money sponsorship or have an owner who is happy to pump money in to the club to cover inevitable losses, this looks a receipt for disaster.
  13. Wouldn't be surprised if the Czech GP was Saturday June 15th.
  14. Wonder if Glasgow would have an interest in Leon Flint.
  15. So would I, but as with many riders his commitments in Poland with Gdansk would make racing for a Saturday track very difficult.
  16. Giving the amount of time, money and effort it has taken to get Workington speedway back up and running I feel they were left with little option but to go Championship next year, especially when it is obvious there wont be a third tier league anymore.
  17. Glasgow have had numerous years to take the jump up to the Premiership, when conditions were more favourable to do so. Why would they take the jump now when its a complete shambles in the Premiership. Probably a case of the Premiership needing Glasgow rather than Glasgow needing the Premiership.
  18. Ritchie Worrall was close to joining Berwick a few seasons ago and he would be a decent signing, thing is he has a fixture to attend with the SCB. If that goes the wrong way for him he probably wont be signing for anyone any time soon.
  19. Throwing good money at average riders is never a great idea.
  20. There isn't a Berwick fan out that would take Etheridge over Flint, my own opinion still hasn't changed, even with this managerial change. I hope Leon Flint looks for pastures new for 2024 and move on and up with his career.
