Brandon Update

Firstly, I was not referring to any of your posts, it’s was the one which was claiming it will never happen. I have never said a return is imminent, just that maybe closer than we have been what with everything but a long way from imminent   I’m not party to anything specific but I know things are going as well as they can at this stage, as has been detailed in press releases from the group and interviews which are in the public domain not least on the NBNF podcast with Jeff Davies.   I know first hand what it is like to lose a club, I’m a Bradford fan so you don’t need to tell me about super domes and roofs. Even more frustrating is they have a shale track down and still no speedway but that’s another story.

Should anyone wish to hear the interview with Jeff Davies it is in this episode here, it’s a few weeks old but nothing has happened in the meantime to make this update any different or less positive at this stage.

So whilst not getting anyone’s hopes up but the to say it will never happen is equally wide of the mark. Let’s see, this is not just a petition, people are working to try and make this happen and they deserve our support. Many have supported it, we’ve spoken about it on BSN to help drive the campaign for public backing, and the support has been excellent.

We all hope it has a good outcome, anybody can say it won’t. One of us will be right 😂🤷🏼‍♂️

I know you didn't say a return was imminent and I didn't say you did, all I said was that I was getting the impression, with some of the language being used, that it almost seemed a return was imminent and that maybe you knew something we didn't. I agree with everything you say about the campaign and the point that they are at and the effort that has gone in. I've never seen @R87 post anything positive about Speedway and while I don't share his view about it never happening I also can't get too excited until I can see moves are being made to acquire the stadium.

Maybe I'm suffering from a bit of Brannan fatigue... I go to the Speedway and you're on the pa introducing the teams, you're then back on the pa with your NBNF highlights podcast, I come home and switch BSN on and you're commentating on that, I go to listen to my Speedway podcasts and you're on them all at one time or another, I watch the GP and I can hear you introducing the riders, I come on here and you're posting, I switch the radio on and your yelling "Pets in a Pickle" in my ear during the ad breaks!!! It seems like you're almost omnipresent in my life 😉😂

I'm joking of course but you do have a wide reach within our sport, so every time I hear the positivity I keep asking myself how can the stadium be purchased, especially while "land banking" is continued to be allowed in this country.

Anyway keep up the good work for all you do within Speedway and who knows maybe a return of the Bradford/Coventry league and cup matches of the past. 🙏🤞

Read my post again, I didn't claim he said a return was imminent... seems like you want an argument though, so you'll read what you want to.

I'm well aware you are just a troll.

However you were the person who said "We are being given the impression that a return to Brandon is imminent."

When I asked who had given you that impression, you named Ian Brannan.   However Ian Brannan has said no such thing.  I asked you to provide a link to where Ian Brannan had said anything to give such an impression, and of course you didn't, because you couldn't.

So it remains that the only person inferring that a return to Brandon is imminent, is you.

But hey, keep trolling if that's what turns you on.

The rest of us will keep up the fight to save Coventry.

Is English your first language? It doesn't seem so, the only person to use the words you've quoted in the order you've quoted them is you! Come back to me when you've learnt to read and understand the English language correctly and maybe we can have a civil discussion. Until then stop bothering me!

@R87 is the poster who said "good riddance" when Wolves closed lets not forget.

There is still much work to do in the fight to keep Coventry running again.  While Brandon is still there though (albeit decaying) never say never.  I wish them well.

I wish SCS well in their efforts to return Speedway to Brandon and they have done some amazing work, however the ball remains in Brandon Estates court and until such time as they wish to proceed with anything it is all a matter of wait and see and prepare, however it is my belief that BE will just sit and wait until the Stadium becomes beyond repair, I cannot for the life of me see them leasing out the Stadium because if they do that then the Stadium will need to be refurbished and brought in to a useable condition which will then defeat their end game of developing the site, purchasing the site for me seems to be the only way forward can SCS obtain the financial support for this to happen? that is the 6 million dollar question, but with Speedway in the UK down and almost out I for the life of me cannot see a business plan that only involve Speedway and Stocks generating enough income to support the purchase (were it for sale) of the Stadium, any business plan would need to include something more than just Speedway & Stocks most likely would at the very least include some development of part of the site, Yes it is possible to see Sports return to Brandon but somehow someone has to get Brandon Estates to accept an offer for the site, until then it is a waiting game and time is on Brandon Estates side.

Exactly.  There is optimism and then there is delusion.  This group fall into the second category.  Its gone for ever.  Accept it and move on

Of course the ball remains in Brandon Estates court, the statement from the campaign group acknowledges that.

A housing development is also delusional at this stage.

Can Brandon Estates wait for 20 years or so  to get something  back from their speculative purchase?

What is the land worth now 20 acres of Greenfield  or Brownfield  not sure, with a massive clean up needed .

Im sure its in Brandon Estates interest to negotiate for some return now and retain the development potential if motorsports  fail in the future removing the need to protect the stadium.

You have to retain hope anything else is just embittered.

Listening to Phil Morris on the NBNF podcast... it sounds like there's a CPO planned/ going through?

It'd be great if there was.

Although if that is the case it reads as though the judges and lawyers are going to be involved again.

But it does also suggest the council feel, very much legally, that they are in a position to say...

"We've had enough of this bollox, time to put an end to it, and it reverts back to being a sporting venue"..

Take the money on offer or " EFF off" could be the only option for those who own it...

Just doing a quick Google about CPO's and there could be another round of judicial reviews and secretary of state involvement, if BE were to appeal against any CPO.

I don’t think Rugby BC would go down this route if they didn’t have all their ducks in a row legally.

Brandon estates are in a corner  now trying to play poker with no cards.

It’s certainly a pivotal time , looking back at the closing statements from the appeal even hooper from the dark side BE admitted that a compulsory order compensation could be zero due to the investment needed to return Brandon to a motorsports venue.

So take the offer that’s been made already.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

CPO's against "big challengers" are certainly not taken lightly..

Terraced houses to clear an area for regional economic development and growth?   Not a problem...

Individuals generally dont take council's on...

Can only be good news if the coumcil are confident of resolution through this course of action..

Absolutely, the legal fees could be substantial if the matter ends up in the lands tribunal. Be interesting to see if the Council are prepared to do this in the current financial climate.

I wonder what offer they'd make for the CPO? You'd pretty much expect BE to appeal whatever it is though
