THE DEAN MACHINE
Here is a strange question you don’t get everyday, on the back of the speedway star this week there is an advert for the Ben fund meeting at Glasgow and in the corner there is a picture of a statue of a man on a horse with a traffic cone on his head, why ? I haven't been to Glasgow since 2022, but think its old Arthur Wellesley (Duke of Wellington) similarly in Edinburgh ( a city I visit regularly as my lad lives there) the statue of Adam Smith in front of St Giles Cathedral always used to have a traffic cone on its head - the cone was actually removed for the Queens lying in state etc in 2022. I think its a mix of student and local humour!

The traffic cone is on the Duke of Wellington statue in Glasgow is a beloved, decades-old tradition started by students in the 1980s, symbolizing Glaswegian humour and defiance against authority; despite council attempts to stop it, public outcry and iconic status made the cone a permanent, evolving feature, representing local pride and even current social messages people change the cone to various football colour but goes back to normal after a few days 😂

martinmauger
Still awaiting my w/e 3rd Jan ish, none in local Asda or TJ Jones either. 'Tis 'the post' tho as a Christmas card from Exeter took 10 days, while same to Florida, USA was 18 days. As a matter of interest my all-time record of fastest post to FL, USA is 5 days, think they held up the 'plane just for me....
