scaramanga
At times last year batch was better than cook and At times cook was outstanding and batch not so good Personally don't think there's much in it On track Maybe batch is lot cheaper than cookie and that had a part to play in it Dont think the teams that bad to be honest
SCS
Has anybody thought that Craig might just be a expensive rider who like people are saying let the team down. I know if he rode against us at Redcar Workington would have won. May be that made Workington chose Batchelor instead of Craig ?

Not really a fan of cookie but maybe he didn't turn up because of monies owed to him by Workington, difficult to be motivated when not being paid on time. Two sides to every coin! scaramanga
always such rumours in speedway and often at workington last year tales of late payments Kept poping up might be something in it or just might be tales from people claiming to know whats going on

Maybe Troy is easier to work with ? Or maybe last season it was the reserves who didn’t get enough points so the promotion have changed the balance of the team. tate and antti should improve further to cover the loss of cookie. Wee Eck
Is it a coincidence that for three years in a row, Craig has been “let go” by his previous teams? And, regardless of press releases, always for the same reason - unreliability? Was there not a suggestion that, when Leicester signed him earlier this year it was because they knew his top league average meant they’d be able to get decent guests when he went missing? How many meetings did he end up racing for Leicester?

Pinny
It cant have been that big an issue for Cook regarding not being paid as he didn't bleat on about it and by all accounts wanted to return to Worky . Him missing meetings has became a trend over recent years has it not? its well known a lot of clubs don't agree to pay weekly - riders are self employed and anyone who is self employed will know that its rare to be paid every 7 days. Some clubs do pay every week, others don't. All depends whats agreed pre season in their contracts. Do you really think Craig Cook is the type to be owed money beyond expectations and not cry about it online?

Woke23
There could be a lot of reasons on why the promotion chose Troy over Cookie. I wouldn't be surprised if it was down to wages though. Workington are running on a limited budget and Mr.Bains has been very vocal about backing the team and bringing the numbers in. I really hope speedway at Workington is here to stay for the foreseeable but it doesn't seem promising after only two seasons.

Time to be more positive in your posts, get behind the comets and stop bitching about what if so and so signed. We have speedway for another year get behind the team, if you can put your hand in your pocket and do some sponsorship to help the promotion out UTC

Would imagine all clubs are running on a limited budget just some more limited than others. One thing I would say that doesn't apply to Andrew is that he is very vocal. A generally unassuming guy who loves Speedway and achieved something worthy of praise. He has done this through sheer hard work and a shrewd business eye which has enabled him to acquire services and materials at a cost that has made the project achievable. He is probably not in a position where he can afford to suffer sizeable financial losses every season. He wants Championship level speedway to be sustainable while supplying the fans with top entertaining racing in the process. The least we can do is support the club.I believe it is a 10 year project so don't understand why you feel it doesn't seem promising after only 2 seasons. At the very worst the future holds NDL racing. Edited December 27, 2024 by SteelShoe
