Dean,

I massively respect your opinion.

In this instance i'll have to agree to disagree given there is a big difference between a "training track" scenario and a full scale Speedway Fixture held under the governance of SCB / BSPL that requires the Promoting Company to be an Active Registered Company under valid Companies House authorisation

If northside training track ltd were the promotion and has been wound up the bspl/scb and all the relevant authorities would of known and the meeting wouldn’t of took place, so either they are not the promotion or a new company has been formed in place of it and the necessary change of paperwork to facilitate hasn’t been completed for the visas, whatever the reason the overriding factor in all this is money and when you get a crowd of 250 that’s when alarm bells ring out, I’m not privi to the finances of Workington or any track but from what I see there and hear from the horses mouth if you can’t make Workington work where can you make it work ?

I think 250 is a bit off the mark, but 3pm on a sat is not ideal for alot of fans .

It was 450 the meeting before but I’m told it was 250 v Plymouth but either crowd isn’t enough

Maybe sat 3pm is a factor, lack of continuity but overall the biggest factor is price and it’s happening everywhere

On examining the records at Companies House it is interesting to note that striking off the company was listed in the London Gazette on 1 April 2025 (no joke).

In the circumstances this company should not have been used to promote Workington Speedway this season let alone since 17 June 2025 when it was struck off.

But speedway is better for me in the evenings ,better under lights but we aint got any.

100% 👍🏻

Maybe 6pm starts in the summer could be an option? I know it's still not under lights but maybe add a few quid onto the burger and beer sales.

Because they put off by price when times are tough and once they out of the habit they tend to stay out

Belle Vue have the same issue, although I'm not totally onboard with what @THE DEAN MACHINE says regarding pricing, I think it's certainly a factor and vfm is very much an issue. The cup semi final at Sheffield on Thursday night was pretty well attended by general crowd levels these days.

Picking and choosing meetings, Sheffield v liecester localish derby, attractive fixture ?

As others have said, interest has unfortunately dropped off this season as there's been lack of continuity due to a combination of rain offs and not enough teams in the league to sustain weekly fixtures, don't think Saturday afternoons and cost have much to do with it as plenty people seem to be able to put time and money aside to go to football/rugby, there's definitely a lack of reporting in local papers and TV compared to when the speedway was at Derwent Park, and maybe the location has something to do with it being 'out of the way'?

Absolutely, that's my point an attractive fixture can and will attract a crowd. I can see next year being 2 leagues, a north and a south

Cost is a factor

20 quid don't sound much

But a family can be 50 quid plus extras burgers ice cream

Not many family's can afford that on regular basis

Need to make kids as cheap as possible they are future paying fans

Has anyone thought or found if there's 2 company's

Training track and speedway as separate im sure it's not uncommon to run as 2 separate

But id be more inclined that it is something more like this paperwork as non payment as non payment in speedway is more common than some like to admit

or to be a bit more fair payment on time
