Oxford Spires 2025

So Premiership 2026 looks like  the best season in the "top" league so far in the history of the sport. No worries about p.off  qualification .... top 4  go straight into p.off semis

So 2026 p.off semis look like :-

Ippo

BV

KL

Leics

Look forward to  AGM decisions on points limits .

So does Scott Nicholls signing for Plymouth add to the rumours that Oxford Cheetahs might in the Premiership next year? He was almost certain to return to Oxford I thought, but perhaps there was no place for him again as there is no Championship team?

Not if you read this post below! Plus Lewy said Oxford wanted him but he chose Plymouth.

If his TV career is over, he'd probably be looking at 2 leagues?

This signing this early tells me Nicholls knows something we don't.

There will either be the same league format as 2025 or he doesn't have a TV job in 2026.

I am surprised though that he's not back riding for Oxford next year in the championship.

to be honest scott signing for plymouth means a stupidly low points limit where sam and scott would be unable to be in the same team i really hope thats not the case as it would chase more fans away but the bspa sho should be sponsered by bandaid will no doubt know better and think the sport is in great health

TBH I'm surprised more clubs haven't adopted & adapted 'the Oxford model" of operating 2 or more teams out of the one track.  Like, keep essentially the same riders in each team, e.g. from Championship to Premiership level, swap out say a reserve / 2nd string & add GP level rider.  So regular speedway each week, watching the same riders with no "he rides for your track one week, against you the next week in a different team"....

If Oxford had adopted that model, running in all three league might have worked. Part of the problem was the exact opposite of that. It was very weird watching Sam Masters for Leicester, Charles Wright for Redcar, Jordan Jenkins for Ipswich, etc.

Heard this consortium wanting to run Premiership at Oxford in 2026 under another name have looked at Oxfords historical rival clubs in Swindon and Reading, not sure how much the locals would support and if those from either club no longer running would travel that far for a ‘home’ meeting.  Maybe a more generic name like ‘Thames Valley Titans’ (other nicknames are available 😜)

Is this real?

Do you mean....

The most obvious, credible thing to do?

Never catch on that.   :D
