Glasgow 2025

Did only Glasgow and Edinburgh sign up to race this year?? Assuming no rain offs this weekend that will be 6 of Glasgow's first 10 meetings against Edinburgh. And its 6 times before the first change of averages. And then half the rest were against Berwick! (So that possibly makes 6 appearances for Drew Kemp in those 10 meetings)

I get that there are less teams about these days but it would be good to get a bit of variety in so we are seeing too keep interest levels up. All well and good having derby matches but not every time

And only two of the six meetings staged at Ashfield have been on Fridays, a really weird start to the season and not one to establish a regular speedway going habit among newbies ... Or indeed regulars.

But what happens if the Champ goes 2H & 2A like many want? With 4 Friday clubs, there wouldn't be regular Friday's even with more matches!

Of course one answer is to run a NL/NT team on blank Fridays.

You could expect 8 home matches in 11 weeks, which is better than we have now (3 Fridays out of 9).

Where doe Ashton go from here. Hes been really struggling lately so going to struggle to get another team place on his average,

Think he'll have a team place tomorrow. Everyone knows there's a talent in there. Plymouth once klindt gets an average? Scunny if Lambert has another bad meeting, next injury the average fits either way he will get a place unless he steps back imo

The speed at which this name has appeared has to suggest a deal was done a few days ago, possibly after the under 21 qualifier at Glasgow.
Ashton seemed to lose confidence towards the end of last year and has simply not ridden as expected in 2025. Such a shame as he looked fantastic when he burst on to the scene and it’s only to be hoped he finds his motivation again.

Don’t think many will be keen on what they have been watching.

Last season at Poole in the KO cup final he smoked Lawson by 100 metres to win his third ride, but was tailed off in his other three rides, throttling right off as he came to a bend.

In the playoff final, it was the same, two tailed off lasts before beating Lawson by a straight.

If he gets in front he is very fast. The trouble is he is lacking any nerve to physically mix it if caught in a first bend tussle. Whether he can get over these issues or not will determine whether he has what it takes to become a speedway rider of merit. Certainly has the equipment and raw talent but that alone is not enough when there are riders out there who will make up on a lack of talent by having bigger balls.

But there could be more to his issues than that. Why throttle off entering bends throughout a race when there’s no one near him?

Signing Ashton after his performance in the play offs last year was mental. Bottle had gone then.

Hope he beats his demons. Remember he is still a young guy.

Got to agree. The writing was on the wall back then but I suppose everyone was hoping it was just a blip. Sadly not the case though.

Nope, club haven't signed anyone

Possibly nobody has put pen to paper but I would be pretty surprised if a club as professional as Glasgow, who have lost a rider (one way or another) do not already have a replacement lined up.
