Ruthless from Scunthorpe.😂

While I wholeheartedly agree, it’s somewhat unprofessional if that is indeed a direct quote from Scunthorpe’s official website.

As I said last night, there’s more to this situation than meets the eye. Your captain and number one doesn’t fail to complete four laps across four races without in his mind, reason.

Three weeks ago, Workington were applauded for their judgement and in their decision to retain Batchelor over Cook who, as far the paying public knew, was still AWOL at Berwick. It’s a funny old game, speedway.

I don't think its unprofessional. Tell it like it is / was.

Unless he gives the supporters some sort of explanation, that is what we witnessed.

I think this is a bit of a naive/immature perspective.

Yeah, I can understand people feeling like that when reading it. I just like it straight, and I think that paragraph sums up the feeling. Troy might have a reason, though he is a repeat offender of this kind of performance and fans get tired of it, particularly when you've paid your money to watch a supposedly decent number one at work.

Quite agree, while every word is probably spot on it's neither appropriate or professional for a club to lay into an opposing rider in their own match report like that.

Personally, I don’t see why not. He has a long history of the same (couldn’t care less about the fans) attitude and has been getting away with it for years. Good on the club I say for telling it as it is…….it’s long overdue. He was a good rider back in the day but his attitude was always in question. These days he thinks he is a cut above the rest and can behave how he likes. He’d be as well sticking two fingers up to the people who support speedway and pay his wages.

The article on the scunny website about the meeting was frank but very true, this is what they put.

Troy Batchelor was awful at No 1 for Workington – probably the worst-ever leading visitor to the Eddie Wright Raceway. The former Grand Prix rider looked completely disinterested, did not finish any of his four outings and even blocked team-mate Vuolas while pulling out of Heat 13. His lack of effort was an insult to travelling Workington fans who made over a three-hour journey to back their team.

Meanwhile... taken from the Workington website: "                                                  "

Please explain how you ”don’t see why not”.😂

Spare us the criticism of Batchelor because there isn’t a single poster on this forum who would suggest he’s anything other than a disgrace.

Anyone signing Batchelor knows what's coming at some point, you have to feel for the Workington fans who travelled over to Scunthorpe last night, they didn't deserve their No1 rider show little or no effort. Hopefully that has been pointed out by the Workington management to the rider but I rather doubt that.

And sign who exactly? Isn’t easy getting a number 1 to commit to Saturday racing. Tried to sign Riss again for this season but he couldn’t commit to weekend racing.

thing is its not just a disappointment for the away fans its also same for home fans, the home fans want to see some effort from an away rider no.1

And the home fans can hammer him until the cows come home, that's fair enough after that performance.

But it's not the home promotion's place to do that in what is supposed to be a professional sport.

Just watched the meeting back on BSN.

I’ve never seen a rider purposely retire while in third place, subsequently blocking his fourth placed teammate in the process. One of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen in speedway.

There’s more to it than we know. There must be. Your number one and captain doesn’t put on a show like that without reason.

Whether there is more to it or not, your no 1 and captain should never ever put on a display like that.

But knowing Batchelor when he rode for us, it only surprises me that teams entertain signing him in the first place.

Will Scott Nichols be fit any time soon?

Very bizarre  from Batch, and Troy almost shoots himself again, because everyone knows he has top class equipment and always had and turned up with immaculate bikes ,maybe he was minus a pit crew member but even then to be given 4  rides you would have thought someone would have had a quite word in his ear about going out for his 4 ride, but that was his worst of the night. Can you imagine if this had happened in Poland what the reaction would have been?!!!
