But before Cairns got injured they had 16 NL/NT riders available. Anyway, all I said is could they have ran the NL fixture instead of a match with multiple guests?

Even if it wasn't two complete NL sides, would that have been a better alternative to an Oxford Champ side with only 2 of their own riders?

So, a similar situation then, if not as bad as it is, still bad?

Most fans are complaining about Oxford using 4 guests & a r/r, you don't normally get so many objections if there was one rider missing from both sides.

You seem very negative to my question would running a NL fixture instead of the Champ fixture have worked, but you've never once said what you would've done? Run the match as it is? Postpone it for another day?

It's very easy for you to dismiss any suggestion I make, but you never make an alternative suggestion?

It is what it is, unfortunately, but I would suggest that whoever complied the fixture for today, when it was possible riders would be riding abroad, are partly responsible.  However, they couldn't also see the riders getting injured (obviously), so a "double whammy".  But, with all the blank dates in the calendar, you would think common sense would prevail and they would postpone it until later, but as you are probably well aware, common sense and speedway rarely goes together!!

I don't think riding in SGP/SGP2 qualifiers is taking the P out of British speedway. It's up to British speedway to schedule its fixtures better.

Yes but are the SGP dates known before the fixtures are compiled? . If not they should be.

The slight difference here being that when this fixture was announced none of the missing Oxford riders would have been expected to be missing.

the SGP2 qualifier date has been moved twice, Gusts wasn’t in the team and realistically the expectation would not have been that Knudsen would be riding in the Polish top tier.

The argument on whether once these were known could the fixture be rearranged is a more complex one but the issue with that being things like the cost of the things that putting a meeting on requires would all have been booked and paid for, sadly speedway clubs in this country can’t afford to take the hit on those.

As it was Oxford we’re still competitive albeit without the backing to Masters required to ever really challenge.

Would a full Oxford team have done much better? I’m not so sure,  they got 15 from Gusts and McDermid’s replacements which would have taken a fair effort from two Armadale debutants, Scott was only beaten by Palovaara x2, Palm Toft and Thomson x2 so not sure Killeen would have done much more and the same for Knudsen as Morley was beaten by Palovaara x2, Sedgmen and Thomson

If it had been called off due to rain, with two full teams expected...

It would have just been rearranged like all other call offs...

Meetings get called off prior to the day of the meeting due to a "dodgy" weather forecast, so why not call them off due to a "dodgy" team full of guests?

They run "guestfest" meetings like this simply because they can...

And that is fine when fans pretend with them that it is a bona fide competition..

But those promoters, and those fans, cannot then moan as the sport slowly disappears due to the lack of sufficient crowd numbers.....

We have already had an NDL match hastily replaced with a Premiership meeting on Bank Holiday Monday, due to a Polish rearranged fixture, which will now need rearranging..

And, I am confident, given history, that others, particularly nearer the end of the season, will get replaced as the top leagues rush to cram their fixtures in...

These NDL meetings will therefore, more than likely, take place with guests who can make the restaging's, replacing those who cannot...

Therefore. Another quickly arranged NDL meeting using guests, wouldn't have been a huge issue would it?

Jacob and Lasse most definitely helped keep the score much closer than it should have been. Thought Grahn and Sedgy both dropped silly points.

Track didn’t help much last night either thought it was utter rubbish, no grip down low coming out the corners or out wide made it really difficult to pass. Was prepped like it was NDL meeting or as if they were expecting rain which there was none forecasted, not the first time this has happened recently.

Not sure about the team managers decision not to give Masters the tac sub ride!

Ok Jenkins was missing in heat 13 - just use Hook, then Sam as a tac sub for Hook in heat 14!

I think you should apply to be asst manager at Oxford, they need your help. It is getting beyond a joke now Shroek cocks up at least once every meeting.

Did it affect the crowd level.

That is always a difficult measurement...

As, what we have today, week in week out, is pretty much down to the "hard core" who, basically, will turn up regularly to watch "anything" served up..

A section of the crowds these days being "die hard club fans", and the other being "generic speedway fans"..

Both sections just want to watch "some speedway" with one section judging their enjoyment of the night due to the result, and the other, judging their night on the racing..

The more difficut to quantify measurement is his how many are not there from the numbers of say 20 years ago?...
