Well done to the Monarchs. Big win.

Credit where it’s due to Kyle Thomson who rightly came in for some criticism at the beginning of the season; his last heat pass has just secure Edinburgh the win.

Yes indeed  but they hit best night to race Oxford

Knudsen and Gusts would surely scored more than the 2 that the two guests got between them!

Think his scores will pick up when Erik returns to number 5.

Good score from Leon I must say.

The definition of a one man team currently. None of them with the exception of Victor look fast enough. Paco needs to engage his brain more - coming off in ht14 when on a 4-2 was just really poor riding. Kye is miles off it and struggling to beat reserves. Grahn hasn’t shown anything yet although if he drops to reserve that might change. Justin is useless unless he makes the start. I’m worried that Polis just might not fancy it - grippy technical tracks isn’t what he’ll relish.

We can point to misfortune tonight certainly but there was more to it than that. I don’t think enough of them are that bothered.

Was considering purchasing the stream but given the cost and the fact the Bears have a much weakened team I’m not sure I will now.

Unfortunate for the Bears to lose Riss at such a late stage and not be able to get a guest. If the Bears can keep it close for the aggregate point that will be a decent effort.

I can’t disagree with that. A patched up Oxford side gave a strong Edinburgh side a scare, especially with those back-to-back 5-1s.

Really surprised by how poor Harrison and Scott were.

Monarchs had three riders who had never ridden at Oxford before, including one 16 year old making his Championship debut in the UK. Add in that this was also only Palm Toft's second meeting this Season upon returning from injury, so imo,  Monarchs did well to achieve this victory tonight.

Yes I agree especially Scott as it seems he was on the pace  for Kings Lynn the other day although he didn't score too many but in this league he should be scoring better.

I'm sure Jody will be a bit disappointed with a single point but it must be noted that after the reserves race his opponents were Palovaara, Thomson, Castagna and Sedgemen. Understandably Killeen got the easier rides so perhaps it's not surpring that he didn't score after heat 2.

My first live speedway of the year and it was an interesting encounter with a few decent scraps and the track seemed to settle down eventually after being difficult early doors.

Gates 1 and 3 were a ridiculous advantage all through the meeting, which made the match swing to and fro as the gates favoured each team at different times. I'd certainly be choosing heat 15 at Oxford to give 8 1 and 3s as opposed to 7.

Credit where it's due Thomson was a good choice for Edinburgh in heat 15 as he looked fast all night and Victor unsettled McDiarmid going into the first bend to give Kye his chance to pass.

The enigma that is Castagna scoring points at Oxford was where the match was won for me as he usually struggles there and he rode a clever line out of bend 4 in 14 to block the faster McDiarmid early in the race. Monarchs riders generally did well when they had the decent gates and not so well when they didn't - good all round team display. The new youngster was understandably beaten round the first bends but was attacking the track well in his last ride.

Masters was dominant for the home side after his opening heat defeat to a very smooth Victor. Heeps rode really well given it was his first match back from his horror crash. McDiarmid looks a talent but not sure he was the right choice for 15 given his relative inexperience, can only assume Heeps was unavailable for selection.

Oxford are missing out on my (and my son's) semi-regular attendance after dropping their 10 match pass from last season. I just don't have the same desire to shell out for individual matches. Last season we spent £400 odd up front and were able to pick and choose between Spires/Cheetahs fixtures, this season's running total £44. Whilst the 10 match ticket may not have had a huge take up it certainly worked for us and over the course of this year we won't be attending anywhere near as much.

Rico

Yes true but it just seemed he was a bit off the pace last night.
