I'm going for 50-40. At least the news is out early... A sensible decision given the meeting on Saturday... I remember when you only found out that one of the main riders was missing when you got into the stadium, so good news for the Aces fans in particular who can now decide whether or not to travel... Several on the FB page have already intimated they will now give it a miss, meaning no getting there and then frustration...

I still wouldn't want to use Fricke at 8 against a "rising star" though. If Douglas & Howarth had to ride together, I'd then put r/r at 5. Use Howarth in heat 4 (meets a reserve) Use Fricke in heat 7 (against opposing number 1) Use Douglas in 11 Use Masters in 13 (as usual) Swap Douglas & Howarth around (Douglas at 4 means he avoids two-on-the-trot with his r/r outing). Still have a heat leader racing with a reserve (except heat 4) in r/r outings, plus 3 extra strong heats when Fricke & Masters are paired together? Hackett
Don't blame the rider , blame the game ... Poland will pay for his treatment and rehab, pays riders thousands more than they earn in the UK + the tracks are generally slicker than a strippers bikini line. Plus - no travel time = more time for rehab + physio.

But if he does then fine, people need to understand riding tracks like Leicester and co is totally different to riding belle vue or Poland, its so much easier. riding these trick tracks in Uk is only doing more damage to the club they ride for as well as themselves, because they will struggle to score the points they have been signed to score Edited June 19 by PhilTheAce 1

If the meeting tonight had something riding on it, and he was (at best), 50/50, then I am sure he would have risked it... Given the play offs are pretty much a given for the Aces, (and even if they don't make it then "Ho Hum"), a defeat tonight won't make much difference to the top four.. Given the consequences in Poland of reaching, or not, the play offs, and tomorrow he is still (at best), 50/50, then it is worth the risk given the size of the prize on offer over there... And if still 50/50 come Saturday he will be a shoe in for the GP.. Edited June 19 by mikebv

It’s not like anyone is surprised he is missing He will ride the GP and Poland tho. That’s a cert. Doyle you could almost say you would expect given he has dislocated his hip TWICE in the last month. Kurtz will be another one soon that thinks he is too big for the UK.
mikebv
You could also question why Premiership matches are getting run on the Thursday's before GP's... Is it only 9 weekends this year? With BV being x2... Therefore, given so few meetings, and every Monday is "UK exclusive", have these 9 Thursdays blank, or let Div 2 use them if they want to.. I am sure the riders would appreciate the time to prepare and not have the impending GP on their minds whilst racing the Thursday before...

They should ban him for being injured... So one of the few genuine World Class riders willing to ride over here, misses even more meetings, so even more fans can not see him ride... I am going to become a BSP consultant with that plan...

Phannan
Speedway in this country is dying a slow death. Poor crowds , poor stadiums and tracks, except the obvious one. The riders know it , that’s why they’re not into it 100%. And we the supporters know it deep down. If there was a possible light at the end of the tunnel, a Barry Hearn character would have jumped on and grabbed it. The fact that nobody has says it all . We can only reminisce about the good old days that will sadly never be repeated. It’s not all doom and gloom though. What gorgeous weather we’re having ☀️👍
IainB
If you're injured, you're injured. I'd take Doyle over Kurtz in my team every day of the week. Kurtz letting Belle Vue down again for a 2nd season and the Captain too!
TheOpinion
Imagine getting angry about something that hasn't even happened. Wroclaw posted the exact same thing last time and he didn't ride. Clearly not 100% and you can afford to miss a league meeting more than a GP, especially if you're 2nd wanting to be 1st.

Rider of the year and led us to another league title, but we didn't win the KOC. For that I'll never forgive him.

ouch
If he misses the Kings Lynn meeting on the 23rd I’ll be annoyed, that’s if he completes league meetings abroad. He has never done that and I don’t see him starting now. I think fans and the BSPL need to appreciate that riders following injury will return to league racing when they feel ready and given some riders compete in several leagues across the world, that come back might not always be in the UK. Our injury jinx continues. I’m hoping Belle Vue’s fine away form continues and we can once again contribute to a close competitive meeting, with hopefully another win on the board. Having said that, if the racing is great and we lose then I’d be happy as racing at other tracks really needs some entertainment to brighten up the league in between Aces home meetings. rocketrod
I’m not a Belle Vue or Leicester fan. Digging out Kurtz when you clearly saw the crash that caused his injury is very petty. First and foremost every riders dream is to be world champion. That would be his number 1 priority given the situation he finds himself in. So if there is a chance he can ride Saturday then he will naturally do it. Every day with an injury of any kind is different, I know this from my profession. We all know the setbacks and risks on a rehab journey. You have to prioritise the risk aversion. And that includes every time there is a meeting no matter what the team or country. I cannot imagine Brady or any other rider being too happy about missing any meeting despite what people think. It’s why they’ve chosen to dedicate their lives from an early age to pursue their dreams. As fans of course it’s disappointing but riders missing has happened since league racing started. And yes there are dodgy decisions. But you cannot simply say he is being disloyal by prioritising his injury for the best possible outcome for him.
