Just want to say what fantastic news!

Can't wait to visit as it's not too far from Norfolk.

It is a team of gating tarts though :)

A couple of down and outs in the side🤣

Good luck to the Cobblers …. Let’s hope they might attract some former Panthers fans back to the sport .
Should get somenovelty value of fans from nearby Leicester, Ippo and Lynn taking a look at the track for the first time… but spectator facilities look pretty spartan  standing on grassy banks on a cold evening. Memories of freezing on the grassy slopes of the Arena Essex racebowl.

Love watching from the grass banks at Mildenhall with fish and chips.

Track looks a bit long and tight, so might need some gating tarts, but wait until Bartosz signs up and lets loose on there!

Facilities look decent.  OK, the grandstand isn't covered, but it looks good.

As an aside something was bugging me earlier today I was trying to remember the name of a danish rider from a few years back apologies details will be sketchy as this was a period  when I had drifted away I wasn't really following speedway apart from the odd sky meeting.

This rider would have been a promising Danish youngster it was around the time Jepsen Jenson signed for Peterborough this lad I think might have turned up on the scene a year later.

I have a feeling he rode as reserve in a world team cup meeting for Denmark I thought it might be Michelson but I'm pretty sure its not he was a rider who many thought was destined for big things but seems to have disapeared but he was around that time when Jepsen jenson and Michelson were coming through.

Apologies for lack of detail but I will recognise the name if anybody has a clue who i am on about it could be it is Michelson but I'm 90% sure it isn't but the name eludes me at the moment.

My mind goes to 2 riders:

Mikkel Bech, who has already been mentioned

Jesper B. Jensen who later changed his name to Jesper B. Monberg, and who won the 1997 World Under 21 Championship.

Mikkel Bech was around MJJs time but was never on his level although he thought he was.

he was about at the time there was loads of young danish prospects like MJJ, bach, larsen, kildemand etc. didnt Bech end up at plymouth and use them as a convenient cash cow when he could be arsed?

good luck to a new club opening up. Hopefully the backers have deep pockets.

Thats him what happened to him I do remember at one point he was touted as the next danish sensation ?

Mikkel retired maybe 3-4 seasons ago but has just announced he’s signed back for Slangarup in Denmark for this season so on the comeback trail

Can't wait to see @R87 thoughts on Northampton opening, considering he spent the majority of the last year telling anyone that would listen that we will NEVER see a new team open up again in the UK, the optimist that he is!!

Willing to give credit where it is due @R87 ???!!!

Or will silence be golden?

Last rode in 2019.  So 6 years ago.

Looking froward to visiting a new track.

Good news we have another club but I don't understand why the promoter hasn't been named , never mind a team line up. Any new promoter has to interviewed and vetted by the clowns running the sport so we must assume this has been done so why the secrecy ?

A team must also have been sorted as you don't announce your running without one !

Greater media impact I'd have thought.

If you say it all now there is far less to reveal between now and May.

It is all a bit typically "UK Speedwayish" isn't it?.;)

I would think it is a really important event for the sport in the UK, hence the desire to make it happen...

Those tracks trying to come back can now point to Northampton, and use it as an example of the sport  not being in "terminal decline" as developers around the country have suggested when requesting planning permission..

It obviously also ensures both leagues can keep going as doubling up can still share rider costs...

Let's hope it's a success, keeping in going will certainly change the optics somewhat as to the current downward spiral of closures...

Buxton and Northampton, two "new" tracks for 2026....

Over to the UK Speedway's Director of Marketing and Media, and their team, to go into overdrive to let the wider sporting world know about them!!!;)

But you know as well as I do the lack of professionalism and clarity within this embarrassment of a sport over here, it's like it's some big secrecy act!
