King’s Lynn Stars vs Oxford Spires - 18.08.25

Serious change is needed at Oxford if they're not paying riders.

They get battered every week so the wage bill can't be that deep, Imagine what it would be like if they actually managed to be competitive and win meetings.

Oxford riders have told promotion they want the money owed before the TV meeting next Monday this is why no riders want to guest in Premiership or Championship as don’t know when they will get their money

And when you hear the amount of what some riders are owed it makes you wonder. Where will they find that money before Monday.

not really, as far as i can see it's still only hearsay...seems very strange this has only come to light after a riders engine failures on Monday night.

@flagrag is pretty much in the know generally

Maybe said rider has decided to not spend any more money on his UK kit until he gets paid?

From Day 1 I said it wasn't financially viable to run in all three leagues.

Higher ups need to take some responsibility in this as well imo and maybe they should help Oxford out financially.

It was their own business decision and was almost heralded as being a great idea as it meant "weekly Speedway", which for so many (who don't have to actually fork out for weekly Speedway), seemed almost utopia at the time...

The reality is that the "novelty" of their return has worn off as it always naturally does at every new track, and paying for sometimes two meetings a week, (more if fans go away too), will always be a challenge...

Just the two leagues next year? 2nd and 3rd tier?

Yes, but... I dare say that if Peterborough and Wolverhampton were still in operation then Oxford would still be riding in the CL & NDL only. They came "up" with Birmingham when the 2 aforementioned clubs ceased operation to make the numbers up for a viable PL to operate and keep the TV people happy.

I was at Oxford on Sunday for the worky fixture, thought the championship crowd level was poor around 500 this includes lots in the posh bit behind the glasses, but very patchy on the normal terraces, and this team is slightly more successful than the premiership team. . Have also heard rumours of riders not being paid.

What's gone wrong Phil it would appear they are still getting some of the better crowds in Speedway and they were supposed to be backed by a fella with deep pockets ? is it running in three leagues that's balls'ed things up ?

Been doing some digging and looks as if Boothby took out a questionable couple of loans from Tallaght Financial Ltd recently. Not a good sign.

On the surface you would expect Oxford finances to be healthy. Good crowds (although they have wained somewhat through this season). If they can’t afford to pay riders on the basis of that, something is definitely wrong. I would suggest all is not well in the Boothby camp. Where is @Bojangles, he seems to know what’s going on behind the scenes?

Pete's interview on BSN would suggest Premiership racing.

Maybe they'll sack the Championship off.
