Is that the rider who has increased his GSA by over a point this season? Who scored 7 or more in 13 consecutive matches prior to KL away? Who has the 11th= best away average in the league this year?

He seems to be criticised for not passing when not making the gate....

File his name with 90% of all riders then...:D..

Not many riders were passing last night and the racing was pretty rubbish...

Stadium two thirds empty, meant zero atmosphere, (I must have missed the local marketing focus over the weekend).:D.

And did Ipswich have a taxi load of fans in attendance?

(Get a good few away fans at these events and you may get some atmosphere)...

An increase in prices was "genius" too....:D

The Aces are a four man team at home and a three man team away so no chance in the away leg, with the Aces, even with TS's averaging just 36 at Ipswich..

Let's hope Brady and his "wing man" Dan don't take any undue risks and ensure they are both ready for Saturday...

They were only qualifiers and the four who qualified were known from the start, but we were never going to trouble the other three over two legs, i was surprised some Witches fans were actually worried about last night.

Because our record there with this bunch of riders has been absolutely wretched in recent years. Consistently battered there the last few years until a victory there in the cup (when the track was wet and heavy and a bit of a leveller) and a draw when you were missing a strong home heatleader. The one time we did face you this season when you were at full strength and the track was like it normally is, it was an all too familiar outcome and we lost by 14!

Despite spurious claims that we should be disappointed we didn’t win and win easy, everybody connected to Ipswich Speedway including Chris Louis and Ritchie Hawkins, would have snapped your hand off if a six point defeat was offered up before the meeting.

Not quite sure what people are getting at here, BV have won 2 of the last 4 titles 🙃 plus they are still in the competition for 2025!

Sir Jim reference about saving money and increasing prices at Old Trafford

Going off our performances at your place i wouldnt have been confident with a 14-16 point advantage tbh.

Fair play to Ipswich a fully deserved result.

To be honest at the mid point of the meeting I was just hoping that somehow we'd get a home win. Blodorn and Mulford gave me a little bit of hope, but the Witches fought back well and rode sensibly. Doyle in particular had a great meeting.

Virtually no chance for the Aces on Thursday but always thought that we're the fourth best team in the playoffs.

On to next season with several changes for Belle Vue, irrespective of the league structure.

Pull up as many stats as you want. 5+2 at home in a playoff sf isnt good enough for an experienced rider.

I would have snapped your hand off for 10/12 at the end of Heat 8.

I thought it was a tremendous team performance to draw the second half.

Beaten twice by an impressive Doyle, once by Brennan in the heat where Cook dropped his only point of the night and by Thompson who of course in his previous visit beat Kurtz

So 5 paid 7 where your main partner scores 11 out of 12 isn't so shabby in reality

I was one of those predicting a bigger victory for the Aces.  Maybe, like Lemon, I was expecting Blodorn to score what he's capable of - I seem to remember him putting some big scores in in previous seasons, I wonder what's gone wrong there?  I also witnessed Ipswich riders' lack of confidence at Foxhall and the defeat to Sheffield exemplified this.  Although it's still not over, Ipswich are obviously strong favourites now.

That's the thing about "3 and 4" that many don't get...

It's their total points when together that can change a meeting..

Both positive and negative...

Doyle was moved for exactly that reason when Dan T was put at four...

Ipswich were far more confident he would cover Dan than Tom B would...

Lidsey wasn't the issue, the issue was clearly the bottom three who are quite possibly the bottom three riders left in the competition...

When you go into any two leg race off against a "good side" you simply cannot carry that level of rider and hope to prevail...

As I have said, I am amazed the Aces won given how out of their depth (and that is at home, not even away), almost 43% of their team are...

So, fair play to the other four for the win on the night...

Blodorn has had cover at second string since being an Ace with Tom B and B Cook..

This year, with Z Cook taking a good while to get going he has had more pressure...

Other years he has been able to drop down to reserve one or two times a season to help him regain some confidence if needed..

This year with the two Aces reserves running so low averages he hasn't had that opportunity...

if they did have a bonafide No1 it would have been even more interesting.

And if Kings Lynn had a 9 pointer instead of one of their 6 points they'd have to replace another 6 pointer with a 3 pointer.  Completely different team.  Replace two of their riders with Zischke & Bewley and tell me if you think that team is likely to finish above any of the 4 teams who did make the playoffs.

Brennan winning heat 9 felt like a key moment for Ipswich. Coming off the back of conceding that 5-1 in the previous race, he hadn't looked particularly quick himself at that point so it seemed like a great opportunity for Belle Vue to extend their lead to 10. He did a decent job in 13 as well to hold off Bewley long enough that he didn't have time to chase Sayfutdinov.

Doyle deservedly rider of the night though, excellent from him in his last 3 rides especially.

He's in his fourth year with Belle Vue isn't he?  While I'm sure he did drop to in 2022, probably in 2023 (Lidsey had a few matches at reserve early that year) I'm sure he didn't in 2024 - Mountain, Zischke & Vuolas were the none RS Aces reserves none of those would have attained a higher average.
After 4 seasons though his progress has certainly stalled.

You keep saying you are amazed the Aces won which is absolute tosh

You have the world number 2 and 3 who fly at home and although they can score 28 they are usually good for 25

Lidsey and Cook are usually good for 16 between them at home

That’s 41 which leaves 3 riders to score 5 between them to win at home

I admit that bottom 3 are poor but to say teams should be winning at your track is garbage

Emil with even 75% of what was expected of him would have seen an Ipswich victory...

Allied to that...

Ellis at reserve should be a virtual cheat code, even more so when riding against the bottom three Aces..

And Danny King v Blodorn and Mulford should be a "gimme" for Danny, home or away...

So. Given all that. Yes, surprised the Aces won...
