Chips Posted June 22 Report Share Posted June 22 Personally I'm very conflicted by Garrity being there. I'm an avid supporter of the club (I designed their bulls logo) and I'm over the moon that they're back as they're now my local track - I was there Saturday for the FGA meeting (great day, sunburnt to hell) but having an ex-convict ride there with the crimes he committed doesn't sit well with me. Then it's a question of assessing the potential risk factors and measures taken to help prevent relapse and are they working and sufficient. Except it didn't, he came into Speedway with Chris Morton and David Gordon taking him as a Belle Vue "Trainee" which kept him out of custody at that time. The probation service stayed close and he got off to a great start in the sport only to be poached away from his mentors and then slipped back into his old ways until it all caught up with him. He's bitten plenty of people along the way, mixes with the wrong folk in the wrong places which is why his early release failed and he was recalled. He is a very likeable lad though. The intellectually limited amongst them will be the ones shouting "hang him" but as soon as Garrity signs for their team and starts banging in the points he'll be the hero of the terraces. Just wondering as after the match on May 24th, when they announced an interval, at 5.15, after only 12 races, I packed up and went home. Is it worth bothering with them again. Events on any given Sunday can be different from week to week. Track breaks are after heats 4 ,7 &12 with 12 being the interval. That's a set routine and barring events taking there toll these still have to be followed. It is hoped that events don't make things move at a slow pace and everything goes smoothly thus making your day more enjoyable.
