TigerIain Posted yesterday at 04:10 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:10 PM It is likely to even out the league. Last season, the was a clear difference between the 'have top heat leaders' and not in both top leagues. So, on one level it makes sense. The question I have is do these nine 8+ riders all want to come back to the Championship, and can clubs in question meet wage and add on demands? If one of the nine doesn't work out a deal, does that render the whole thing pointless?

I also think that he has already signed for Poole (2 year deal last year). Personally, I'd have Howarth back after the season he had last year. After our experience with Nagel this year, with him missing about as many matches as he rode in, I'm not sure that we'll have a young Dane in our team next year.

Berwick went out and won 2 meetings against Workington where it might have been better for next season to not do so (have Peter or Jonas scoring a lot less points keeping his average under 8 so they would have the option of keeping both). Sure before the 2 Workington meetings Berwick had 3 riders over 8 point average but noone was above 8.2.
mac101
Only really 2 teams started with more than 2 over 8 pointers this year Berwick and Redcar so won’t really make much difference this year, will it? With all teams having 40 points to build if you have a top heavy team your weak at the bottom , its all really how the team is built from the start Edited 22 hours ago by mac101

When Nagel signed there was possibly one fixture clash it only went pear shaped with rain offs in Poland and play offs. I would have him back in a heartbeat the boy is box office , sadly can’t see it happening.

His team had two over the 8pt average in the team at the time. All teams build to same points total. If a team uses more points on its heat leaders then it may well be stronger in that department but potentially weaker lower down as a consequence. If one of the nine doesn't work out a deal, does that render the whole thing pointless? Not really, still stops a club picking 2 or 3 of the top riders in the league & sharing them out. Will this ruling stop the top riders asking for more money than clubs can afford? Once the 8+ riders get signed & spots fill up, the remaining ones will know it's sign for a "leftover" club or miss out, less options than normal. Could be 7.9 or 8.1!

Normally I'd agree with you, but in recent seasons it seems to be the same clubs with string top ends always near the top & the same strength in depth clubs always near the bottom. Could argue it'll make the racing better, with the top riders in the league riding against each other rather than with each other?

Fromafar
Don’t think 1 rider over 8 is really necessary when you have points limit.Makes 2nd string heatleaders ask for better terms .Clubs with money will look for 5 pt foreigners.Sticking plaster stuff as usual.( if all these rumours are true ) 11 hours ago, SteelShoe said: would think it more likely to lead to some average manipulation toward the end of the season depending on the Greensheets. s
Colsimmo58
Now we know that there will be 2 Leagues in 2026, why doesnt 1 promoter have the Balls to admit there will be 2 leagues and not wait until Nov 12th,at there AGM. Also ,if all the rumours on this Forum are TRUE, tell us who told you and from what source you know this. This only having 1 rider above 8 pts,is crap. Why should the likes of GLASGOW,POOLE and REDCAR pander to promoters of other teams who have a crap 1 - 7. If the points limit is 40,build your team to 40 or close as,if some Promoters cant build a decent team of 1 - 7, thats not GLASGOW,POOLE or REDCAR's fault. Promoters should build teams within the points limit and riders they can afford.

While I partly agree with you, look at what's happened in the Prem, possibly down to only 5 clubs & that's if Sheffield get a new owner. Truth is the top clubs need to help to weaker clubs to survive, or they'll have no-one to race against. If that means a 1 over 8.00 rule, so be it.
