Four and an individual. Plus years of Young Stars/Boston/Norfolk Braves up to 2016. And training schools, practice sessions etc. You Poole folk really should do your research before trapping off and looking daft.

Was that not a Poole junior team that ended up losing a shed load of money? Poole then made the decision to concentrate on what they’re good at, which was to pay for developed talent, which was undoubtedly good business for lower and same league teams. This route is sadly now lost due to the unnecessary (in my view) collapse of the retained list system. Anyway, can we move on from All our Yesterdays and get back to Poole 2026 1

I was referring to recent years not 10 years ago before you go trapping off. I am not a Kings Lynn fan so I would not know about Kings Lynn training schools, I didn't think they had them anymore, only one I know of is in Scunthorpe. Happy Christmas. As far as I know they have all sorts going on all year round, the advantage of having 24/7-365 access to a stadium.

Paul Johnson
Poole take emerging youngsters like fjoord, cairn, rushen because they can see the potential, they have already developed from youth leagues and amateurs...bit like Scunny had with Harrison...Poole sign them and shout out to the world"Look what we unearthed" they may refine them and mould them into better riders but seem to want the credit of finding them

You really must be deluded if you think it's nothing to do with the money. Nothing wrong with paying top dollar that's the way it works but don't keep denying it.

The whole package is worth much more than a big points deal what is interesting though and has seemed to be the case for 30 years or so is that Poole sponsors are loyal to the team rather than the rider. so when a Poole rider moves on the sponsorship goes and is given instead to a incoming rider. most riders tend to keep sponsors going forward despite changing clubs. True to a degree and we do the same, we tried it with a none Poole rider this year but it didn’t work for us sadly so have gone back and sponsored a Poole rider for 2026. We have experienced so many times in the past, we sponsor - give the money and rarely hear anything from the riders until the time comes again when they need fresh sponsorship for the next year. Not all riders, we dealt with some cracking riders one in particular was exceptional. But with money not so freely available, riders should probably learn quick on that, how many are driving around or flying daily, how long does it take to send a simple text once in a while? Don’t need to be wined and dined but a personal message would go a long way. I hear the same with clubs too. Appreciation goes along way and we don’t put money into riders for the business we do it because I love the sport and want to help riders progress in a small way and hope it helps. Better incentives to join? a quarantee of a van? a place to stay ovenight?maybe pay more travel money...Poole is a big fish in a small pond, its akin to liverpool dropping to the championship. riders would still want to ride for them, its the draw of playing for a successful team,, but you cant say you have unearthed another talent,,some one else has done that and its a plus if based down south Edited 9 hours ago by Paul Johnson
